  1. (1) Well, I would think that as they are calling this a "joint" sponsorship deal, they must have someone else ready to sign. (2) Previously, as EW had a BoJ of $1.9m an FoJ sponsorship would have had to have a higher value, but as expectations must have since been lowered (given the extraordinary circumstances) and again, as the words "joint sponsorship" have been used, I am assuming that FoJ and BoJ will be allocated a similar value.
  2. Can we have two users with the same name? Unless things change on WebJet's search engine, I will be using Flight Centre for travel to the US (LA & NYC) via Guangzhou. Unfortunately WebJet isn't bringing up China Southern on their list of available carriers which would make the Guangzhou leg a no go (and for Michaely's benefit, I checked SkyScanner and they were the most expensive).
  3. So I suppose that might translate as approx $1.5mil p/a...and as there is a joint sponsor coming on board soon, I would assume it would be for a similar figure, which would mean a total annual sponsorship of around the $3mil mark, which is nothing to be sneezed at.
  4. Yes, I would say it is a guesstimate based on the 2 year extension going ahead.
  5. According to an article now appearing in Real Footy: "The amount was not revealed, but it is believed to be worth several million dollars." Full article is here: http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/dees-fly-with-new-sponsor-20120412-1wwyz.html
  6. The tweets coming out from the club say"joint major sponsor"... what exactly does that mean? Can we expect a follow-up announcement in the not too distant future regarding another sponsor?
  7. No pleasing some people! Even good news must have a down side.
  8. Yes... hopefully seeing Green sent to Casey will put a much needed rocket up Davey.
  9. Well, if it's a large amount, what are the chances someone close to the MFC leaked the Polis FB info - EW were a possible liability due to issues with payment and if WebJet had been engaged with prior to this, well... who knows? I love a good conspiracy :-)
  10. Tweeted by Sellar "Nice relaxing day off. Light session tomoz n bring on Saturday... First game on the MCG for the dees... - I'm assuming this means he knows he's in the selected side.
  11. This week against the Tigers may well be a pivotal game, but I am more interested in seeing how they present themselves next week against the Doggies... it will be another emotional day and I am hoping they see this as a chance to redeem themselves after their atrocious performance against the Lions when the emotion of the day could not lift them.
  12. As this topic seems to have a lot of posts raising the issue of time and long suffering supporters (of which I am definitely one), should it not be renamed to: "Requiem for a Heavy Wait"?
  13. Agree... I think that what Davey provides is the "perceived" threat... opponents can put pressure on themselves because of Davey's reputation rather than his actual current level of performance.
  14. Funny.. but then again, that could have described half of our team. But if we want to name names, I believe he was known as Ralphus Maximus, close friend of Biggus Dickus and his wife Incontinenta Buttocks.
  15. Yes, just like we could have won the game against the Lions (Eagles game was a bridge too far regardless), yet we lost by 41 points. Unfortunately this game is no push-over, although I do believe it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we could win; I just wouldn't be putting my house on the result, that's all. However, I do find it amusing that as we get past the halfway point in the week after a >100 point drubbing, the wailing and gnashing of teeth makes way for the fanfares ushering in what is certain to be a certain victory and a turning of the corner :-)
  16. Actually, the rumour I heard was that a rather tall young team mate threw up on him... no idea how true that is though.
  17. That only equates to 1 goal 4 points, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
  18. Had the following tweet response from @melbournefc: "we thought the logo had been removed. We're working with the AFL to get it removed asap."
  19. They have got it wrong... no doubt about it. The date of the last update according to the "Play Store" is 22nd March. They were promoting it today on twitter and I responded informing them EW is still appearing, so between all of us communicating with them in one way or another, they will be sure to get the message.
  20. Perhaps wattsup has the iPhone version - I have both, and there has definitely been no android update made available, yet there has been an iPhone update that removed the offending logo.
  21. In the past five and a bit decades of following the Dees, my character has been deconstructed and reconstructed so many times I'm starting to feel like a KFC nugget.
  22. Following rounds 1 & 2: "It's only a flesh wound!" And some sound advice to all and sundry on this forum and down at the clubhouse: words and music by Eric Idle Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse. When you're chewing on life's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best... And...always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the light side of life... If life seems jolly rotten There's something you've forgotten And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps Don't be silly chumps Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing. And...always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the light side of life... For life is quite absurd And death's the final word You must always face the curtain with a bow. Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow. So always look on the bright side of death Just before you draw your terminal breath Life's a piece of [censored] When you look at it Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true. You'll see it's all a show Keep 'em laughing as you go Just remember that the last laugh is on you. And always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the right side of life... (Come on guys, cheer up!) Always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the bright side of life... (Worse things happen at sea, you know.) Always look on the bright side of life... (I mean - what have you got to lose?) (You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!) Always look on the right side of life...
  23. Now I know very little relating to how businesses run, but I would have thought that the fact ASIC sat on this for so long without doing anything, and the fact that major Energy companies who I would imagine stood to lose a lot more than the MFC became involved with Energy Watch, would indicate that no amount of "due dilligence" around a potential sponsor, would have turned up enough for the club to shy away from such a sponsorship arrangement.
  24. I didn't get the wrong impression at all... I thought you probably did like him... I have to say I'm a bit of a fan as well, just as I have been of Jones since he first started with the club and he became everyone's favourite whipping boy... perseverance pays off in many instances, and I have hope that Spencer, like Jones, will do himself and his team proud.
