    Had a similar thought.

Whilst none of us appreciate their shenanigans Freo, in their own fashion are just shopping with what they have( and will have ) . From their standpoint they're trying to maximize their bang for buck. Good for them. That's beholden upon them to do so for that club.

It's actually up to us and others to negotiate better deals. No one gets a free ride. This is pure market forces at work.

    Trading ain't finished yet.

    Have some faith people.

You can't shop with no money and a dodgy credit card like these idiots are trying to do

Why not do your trades get your credit then spend it on Hogan What was the rush to declare interest in a player you cannot afford?

That means they won't be trading their 2019 1st round pick to us (or anyone else) as the Future Pick Trading rules prohibit the trading of future 1st and future later picks.

Hopefully we get the Neale pick #5 and #11!!  Otherwise the Hogan deal starts looking awful!!

    Who are Port after?

I've never wanted him to go, while I thought he was committed to the club.

Now it is clear that he is not committed, so I want him gone.

There is no point holding onto even the best players, if they are not firmly embedded in what you are trying to achieve.

If Hogan signs a 4 year extension and stays, and doesn't umms and errs about his future every year, I would be thrilled. But he has never done that, and we now have a chance to trade him to significantly better our list. It's time to go.

    Could not agree more  Jaded

This has been an ongoing sore ever since We got Hoges

Best to finish and move on. By the way team balance is better without him

Hope Freo can make him happy and get him to lose the poor attitude and bad body language

I for one would rather he go

Oscar might not be as dashing and agile as Frost but he has the better skills and is more composed with ball in hand. Much more composed. He may not be the finished article yet but Oscar played some very good footy this season, especially when Lever was up and about and he could play second fiddle back there.

Add May to the back six, get Lever back from injury and watch Oscar thrive with main glare of a key defensive spotlight off him. That’s the added blessing of having tough-ass gorilla-minder like May come into the side. Takes some of the heat off Lever and OMac.

Frost will be the one pushed to the back of the pecking order if May is brought in. Skill level is not at the level for a side with premiership aspirations. Couple of those fumbly turnovers and wonky 30m passes against an Eagles or Tigers and wooshka ... it’s game over.

    put frosty on a wing?

just as i suspected. looking at his draft number and stats only. maybe watch some games. brayshaw didnt have a great debut season, especially compared with cerra.

I suppose you watched him  intently the whole season So yes I looked at his Stats  and his coaches comments only sorry for that.

not sure why everyone is talking about brayshaw? Cerra looks double the player. Some people look at his surname and live in fantasy world.

Pick 2 in a reasonable draft and had equal numbers with Cerra. What's not to like

Interesting you say this but I would say it matches a lot of what I’m feeling about all this. Given the time this has played out and the fact that Hogan is still yet to make a decision leads me to believe that a strong part of Hogan wants to go home but not at the expense of his footballing dreams.

All parties might well feel this is his best opportunity to get home, but Jesse himself may be feeling like Melbourne is his better chance at a premiership (that would be my opinion as well) and he isn’t as desperate to get home as others have in the past.

He’s toured the facilities, he’s heard the pitch, he’s surely been told all the bells and whistles, and hopes and dreams. If he isn’t convinced by now he could be leaning towards staying.

However if he is to stay I’d be looking for at least a two year extension, one year seems pretty pointless to me and I would prefer longer.

HAS HE MET ROSS LYON YET? THAT MAY CHANGE HIS MIND!

Without meaning to be too cynical, this sounds exactly like Paul Johnson’s bio when we picked him up from West Coast. Not saying the result will be the same, just pointing out that annointing him the solution to both our ruck problem *and* third tall forward problem (as belzebub did in reply) is setting the bar very high.

If he was that good he’d be in the Norf ones and not getting traded. There is risk involved and the trade, and our expectations, should be weighted accordingly.

I’d still be looking at rucks in the draft, even if we get Preuss. (Edit: forgot about Bradtke on the rookie list, so maybe that’s enough project rucks on the list.)

    How about Doyle?

With the delistings, retirements and rumors swirling about vanders, Hogan and Kent it makes food sense to lock him up. He could be in the mix for round 1 given the potential list turnover.

    I'm hoping he has a massive 2019

    There are rumours about Vanders?

  10. Long Lunch at the Bot. Walk down Anderson Street in the sun, no jacket required

Find my seats get a beer and ready  ready to rumble. Honestly doesn't get any better than this.

So relaxed now we are in Finals and  result today doesnt matter as much but  still want to smash the Hawks.

Can someone please tell Garry Lyon to shut up. We have been a basket case for so long now. Now that we are a good team again i would like us stay there. I don't care even if we somehow pinch this years premiership i wouldn't trade him. Why not try and have a successful era like Hawthorn etc. He says he he loves the club well he doesn't show it. I wish this guy would shut his mouth. If we somehow pinch this years premiership and he presents the premiership i will throw up.

    Could not agree more

Has nothing to do with MFC has no inside and honestly his opinion is worth zero

During a discussion ON THE COUCH this evening,  it was interesting to hear Roos proffer and then promote the idea of playing Jesse at CHB. I got the feeling that this is what he'd try if he were still coaching.

Garry brought up Jesse's lack of forward half pressure and how the forward set up had improved since Jesse's injury. This is undeniable IMO. But the others interjected and rightly said our Jesse-less forwardline also coincided with us playing 6-6-6, so it wasn't as simple as Garry suggested.

However, I'd say at least playing Jesse at CHB would ensure more combativeness from him and the need for a pressure game.  His lack of tackling is really an issue for us IMO. And after playing a few games down back, he could then take this back to the forwardline with him.

Although, I'm still not convinced you can take a 40+ gun forward out of your forwardline...

On the fence as usual, A F.

He is already out of our forwardline isnt he?
