  1. Yep. Good to remember. Some nice positives for the boys, but we aren't going to be winning this one I suspect!
  2. Maybe, but it's not necessary that every player is "perfect", or has great stats every week. It's just important that they do the job that they have to do, which would hopefully be a job that takes into account their individual strengths and shortcomings. It is, after all, a team sport, and the sum of the parts etc. etc.
  3. Everyone's always talking about how they have to "earn their place", yet when a player gets dropped, there are posts like this. Jordie didn't have a great game last week so .... ??? But he's still young, and sure he'll learn/improve/bounce back.
  4. Yes, but going to Yuendemo along with Jurrah etc., the guys who are basically not playing.
  5. Casey don't play this week. Imagine he would only be dropped if he's a) really out of form (??) or B) injured (??). Re the above, a bit tough for Hughes if true. He didn't do all that much, but wasn't alone. Wonder if it'll be the same "you've got 2 games to show your worth" for Watts. We may not have any more outs, at least one of the above would be an emergency, and as they're probably wanting to play as many indigenous players as possible in Darwin, I wonder if Morton could be carrying the drinks.
  6. Listed as "test" today (18th), so maybe will come up. MacDonald for Bruce would be OK, but would prefer Bate was in.
  7. Yes, really looking like a great pick. Hard to see him getting in this week though, because Miller and MacDonald are probably more likely, and then if they want Wonna in to play in Darwin, that doesn't leave much room. Against that, there's no Casey game this week (Interstate match), so he might as well go to Darwin, even as an emergency.
  8. And just when you thought the Jack Watts threads couldn't get more ridiculous, along comes someone to spoil your day.
  9. That about covers it, so same for me. Not surprising that it's the backs getting all the votes, the game was played in their forward line.
  10. Good post. Not limited to Jack Watts either, the projection of what's going on inside the heads of the team/players/coaches is just mind-boggling at times. For mine, thought he looked very good for first up in a team that got belted. Not a lot of result for his efforts, and in truth, not even all that many efforts, but you can see what all the fuss is about. As an aside, up the other end, WCE had their own "Jack Watts" in Kennedy. Drafted no. 4 in 2005 and now, 5 years later becoming the focus of their forward line and a "star". Yes, it can take that long.
  11. Pity there's not a "delete this thread" button. Self-indulgent BS.
  12. After a couple of early goals, Rivers kept Kennedy goal-less for the rest of the match ... and that when they were all over us. Team was flat, a bit like the North game. Not used to being favourites, and perhaps not ready to take on the responsibility of being winners. I almost get the feeling that they'd rather be losing honorably to Geelong every week. Very nervous about the next Richmond game now!
  13. Must have heard what's been happening at the G ... a few of the Dees playing for a place next week I'd imagine!
  14. Weak effort .... from pretty well the whole team. PJ looked out of his depth, but there were quite a few others who seemed not particularly interested. Really good lesson for them. And Port away next week ... could be a few changes i would imagine. Watts did enough in a poor side, needs to play now to get experience/confidence. In the scheme of things, a weak loss.
  15. Not done, we haven't even started! Backs are doing well, but under the hammer the whole day.
  16. Excellent response sir. Keep up the great work, and looking forward to seeing you at the game in the leathers.
  17. It's got nothing to do with objectivity. To start a whole thread based on one BS journo stirring the pot with a story which is not backed up anywhere else is just a waste of space - especially when there are plenty of JW threads already. Reminds me of the off-season, where we spent the whole time discussing hypothetical "what ifs".
  18. Good to see Jetta in the emergencies, another one pushing ... maybe they're worried about Sylvia coming up. Thought we might have seen Gysberts there, but with our JW in, probably looking for more experience.
  19. It not just looks poor, it is poor. To do a hatchet job on a player in the context of a team review is perhaps one thing. But to single out an individual given what he and the whole team did last week, and then to start a special thread about it, is really weak. Even the use of "another" in the title is unacceptable. It implies he's some kind of serial offender when there was a single incident a few weeks back. His courageous and committed performances since then would suggest that either that was an aberration, or he really was cramping at that moment. It's very easy to sit back here and pass judgement. Too easy perhaps.
  20. FFS, don't we have other things to talk about? He takes the biggest, most couragous mark of the game in a pack situation, and you want to drop him to the seconds to teach him a lesson. This anal, microscopic dissection of every single play, looking for mistakes is bad enough, but then to propose "send him back to Casey" as some kind of solution to these imagined shortcomings is just mind-boggling. It's always like this mid-week. Sheesh.
  21. For me, pleased to see that they're learning to play (well), and play together. Learning to win (when it counts) is still a little further down the road. Taking positives from a game that we lost isn't an endorsement of losing.
  22. Eagles? Hmm. a) need to find a place and B) a certain NN would be asking for comparisons that perhaps Jack and the club could do without for the moment. But ... emergency perhaps? However ... Casey play on the Sat arvo as well, and then there's no Casey game the following week. So, if Jack was emergency, and then didn't play for MFC, he wouldn't get a game back with Casey till 2 weeks later and could start to miss out on game-time. I'd say he'll do another week in Casey, with a view to bringing him the following week.
