  1. Dogs delist Daniel Cross, Nick Lower, Lukas Markovic and Patrick Veszpremi.
  2. A few more pieces to fall into place yet: FD director, finalise the Board, AFL compo, AFL priority pick - suspect that all or most of that needs to resolve itself before we can categorically sign/announce a coach. Once that's done ... Range Rover time.
  3. Thanks. Thought the 6 game rule applied to all finals.
  4. Casey just played Geelong in the first of the finals, Pedersen played, therefore he must be eligible. What am I missing here?
  5. Injured presumably. Why would he not be playing otherwise?
  6. Tudor makes sense, he's been at the Swans for 2 years now, Roos would know him well. Though he's also been linked to the Lions as Senior Coach. Feel a bit for Neil Craig in this, could be a few announcements over the next week.
  7. How could we announce anyone else now? If that happened it would always look like we were knocked back by Roos and had to settle for second best. And who else have we spoken with multiple times, as is the case with Roos? Not Craig, and not Williams if reports are correct. Roos might as well have said "I'm going to do it" - except that he would lose leverage in ongoing negotiations if he did.
  8. FFS, ridiculous hyperbole. Have a look at the injury list for starters. Who the hell should be playing tonight who isn't??? Sellar? Casey were never going to have much of a chance down at Geelong in any case, and next week everyone who is available will be available.
  9. Makes it hard now for any other candidate, Roos is obviously the one we're after.
  10. Depends how you define untried. Leigh Tudor is not lacking in experience at AFL level. Up to the coaching panel. Wouldn't be ruling out anyone myself, including Worsfold - or Craig. It's not going to turn around in a season or two though, no matter who we pick.
  11. And with an "informed" comment like that, glad you're not deciding either.
  12. Unfortunate way to end his career, and will be missed around the club.
  13. Lots of specialists in Sports Science out and about today. No point working on skills if you don't have the fitness to execute them under pressure, over four quarters and for a whole season.
  14. This list can take the club forward. Just not in the short term, and that's the difference. Well, that's how I read it!
  15. Not disagreeing, but not forgetting either that both Dawes and Clark not only missed significant slabs of the season, but effectively missed most/all of the last pre-season as well. If they'd been knocked from pillar to post in 20+ games of footy, with a full, hard pre-season before that, suspect that they'd be looking to sit on a beach somewhere for a while rather than start in early with extra training.
  16. Rodan needs development? And if Bail still needs to play in the VFL for his development, after being drafted in 2008, then we're in worse trouble than I thought.
  17. Even if Craig did coach the club next year, he said the talent on Adelaide's list when he took over was lacking at the Demons. "The quality of players that were in that squad, (Mark) Ricciuto, (Simon) Goodwin, (Andrew) McLeod, (Tyson) Edwards, Benny Hart – there was a lot of quality in that squad," he said. "We are a long way away as a total footy club."
  18. There are no messiahs. Fixing a broken team takes years - even if it is possible. For me, there's no way of judging Craig, one way or another on current results. You only have to see Tom McDonald's game today to see how frustrated and down on confidence the players are. I would say they're pretty well all completely shot. If it's been a year from hell for supporters, I can only imagine what it must be like at ground zero, and even a walk-on-water coach wouldn't be able to do much about that in the short term. I also think much of the current discussion undersells just how much work and time it takes to teach a whole team a way of playing, and of getting them to execute it day in day out in the heat of battle. The idea that Craig was going to come in and in a week or two undo two-odd years of trying to master Plan A is also, it seems to me, completely unrealistic.
