  1. Week in, week out, it's the poor decisions and turnovers that are killing us. Hard to see where to go in the short term, hard skills to teach outside of actual games.
  2. Not sure if it's equally true of our game, but commentary was the worst we've had this year. We're getting the B-team.
  3. And another constructive post from Mr. "Allison's reviews on the Casey players are too negative, I'm going to write to the club". No-one, and I mean no-one, trashes the club more than HH.
  4. Ball coming in leaving a lot to be desired though.
  5. If no club rates him first round, we only have to worry about clubs who finish lower than us on the ladder rating him round 2: i.e. St Kilda, GWS, Lions - at the moment. Anything other than that scenario would see him go Round 3.
  6. Says the poster who is always first to trash the players, club, coach etc.
  7. You're making any number of assumptions there.
  8. ... exactly. It explains why Barry earned promotion. He executed the run-with, shut-down game asked of him. Odd premise though ... what are you suggesting, that Roos and co. want to promote the least-likely candidates? The key to understanding what's going on is in the JKH review: play your role, do what you've been asked. That's all that it's about - it has little to do with number of disposals, as Sam Blease has been finding out.
  9. Most players who never play well at VFL, never do at AFL level either.
  10. It's not about who "is" the better player. No question ... at the moment. It's who will be the better player for Melbourne over the length of their career - and with all due respect, i can't see how you or anyone else is in a position to even begin to judge that at the moment.
  11. The point about F/S is that in theory you get a player for a lower pick than what they merit. Given that it's not about "best in draft" but rather "best available at the pick", you'd have to say the weight of probability of him coming to the Dees is well on Billy's side, simply because he should (easily) be "best available at the pick". Hopefully Round 3.
  12. Was just going to edit my post to include Cross ... bigger loss than perhaps we realised. Forgot also about Spencer, though not sure he has reached "notable" stage yet.
  13. Selective. Both Trengove (ex Captain and number 2 pick, obviously hampered by foot problems for the last 18 months) and Tommy Mac would be automatic selections. So, key forward, key back and key mid out ... I don't know, I'd call that notable.
  14. All this Toumpas talk. Don't get it myself. Dane Swan played 30 not-particularly-noteworthy games in his first 4 seasons - that's four seasons. The only point the "Wines is ripping it up" argument establishes is that different players develop at different rates. As was posted above, the time to judge a player's career is at the end of that career. We only have to look at what has happened this season to players like Dunn (never going to be anything), Jamar (he's finished) and Pedersen (whoever drafted him should be shot) to see how true that is.
  15. The two Macs in ... for Terlich (injured) and AN Other out. Salem? Subbed off last week, and didn't do all that much this week. Going to be a player, but it's a long season. Not sure why anyone's calling for wholesale changes, when it's obviously not the way of the new coaching regime. Also not sure why anyone's calling for Garland to be dropped either. He may not quite be the Garland of old, but 20 possessions, 9 marks, 5 tackles ... time to stop judging players by their mistakes, no matter how horrendous.
  16. Well, they say you learn from your mistakes, so on the basis of that we won't lose another match this season. We found ways to butcher it when there weren't any ways. Lowest 3 disposals to Terlich, Salem, Kent - all forwards (today). Therein lies a tale. And for all the bitching about Tom McDonald, back line doesn't look the same without him down there - though Garland just isn't the same Garland, which isn't helping either.
  17. Dom Barry to come on and kick the sealer with his first kick?
  18. Not saying it's the case here, but Dom Barry was promoted on the back of an 8-possession game. Not all in the stats, depends on what targets they were set, and what they were asked to do. Maybe wait for Allison's review before getting the rope and pitchforks. Good to see JKH back amongst it. Tapscott ... a positive at least it would seem, but it's not the first time he's ripped it up at VFL level.
  19. From BF: "Interesting stat. There are 10 Casey blokes playing (not including Troy Davis, cos he was ours), to half time only one of them has more than 6 disposals."
