Delistings/trades at end of the season
Will be interesting to see if someone gives Fitzy a second crack. 1-2 year contract on minimum payments mightn't hurt, for a tall he's still comparatively young. Either that or he finds a home in the SANFL.

Movies/DVD's
The Theory of Everything, the film based on Stephen Hawking's life/relationships is worth a look. Remarkable acting from the two main characters playing Hawking and his first wife, Jane Wilde, mutterings of Oscar nominations etc. etc.

Ahem, having lived in Belgium for a number of years, it's both. Almost. The official name of the town is Brugge: it's in Flanders, and "brugge" is the Flemish (i.e. Dutch) word for "bridge". Bruges is the French version of the name, and the one that is used internationally - at least for the moment. Which reflects the history of administration in Belgium, which was French-speaking until the Flemish had had enough around the time of WWII. The local first division football team there (not too shabby either), is Club Brugge. FWIW, the same situation applies to a number of Belgian towns/cities. Perhaps some here might have heard of the WW1 memorial in Ypres ... though if you go there, the only signs you'll find use the official, Flemish name, Ieper. Similar towns that might ring a bell are Leuven/Louvain, Liege/Luik, and some which get rather odd: Mons/Bergen. Think of it as a bit like Ayers Rock/Uluru, or even Mumbai/Calcutta - complete with all the political subtext and baggage that that implies.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
It'll take more than one pre-season.

He forgot the 3 in front of that.

Dayne Beams
None of us know the exact situation, I wouldn't be too quick to judge. These are professional footballers, with a short career that could be ended every time they step onto the field. I don't begrudge them their right to maximise their income. In any case, not sure what more Beams could have done to get to Brisbane? But now the cat's out of the bag, hard to see him going back either - though Dustin Martin tried his hardest to leave Richmond and had to eventually back down. On that note, will be interesting to see who calls whose bluff re Griffin/dogs.

Jack Watts
Well, if I may, we don't actually know. His grandfather died, and along with a few other players at the club, he'd been sick with some gastro thing. Quite how much the two affected him, only those on the inside would know.

Jack Watts
Nothing gives you the right to highjack every thread. Make your point. Make your point once. Then drop it. You're getting really really tedious, and I for skip your posts because you just say exactly the same thing (player manager, blah blah, Watts, blah blah, Neeld, blah blah) over and over. You are not doing your argument one iota of good. As for being desperate, it's a football club. Desperate is when you don't have enough money to feed your kids or pay your rent.

Freddie Clutterbuck
Interview with the man himself: http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/east-perths-freddie-clutterbuck-invited-to-train-with-melbourne-demons/story-fnb7bkh3-1226208346862 "Clutterbuck had an outstanding season in the WAFL, playing all 20 games for the Royals as well as making three appearances in the Foxtel Cup. The 21-year-old midfielder averaged 22.3 disposals per game to clinch the leagueβs Rising Star award at the end season." ... and some random quotes: "Freddie Clutterbuck (26 touches) was superb on the wing for East Perth and kept Fremantle-listed Jesse Crichton quiet" "East Perth was led by skipper Michael Swan's six goals and 42 possessions from Brendan Lee .... and 39 from Freddie Clutterbuck."

Neeld pours heat on Demons
Where the hell is the evidence that he's pissing the boys off left right and center? Especially given that all their public utterances have been completely the opposite. e.g. Trengove's tweet today: "Massive session today. I have a feeling we are going to be some fit blokes come xmas! The boys are flying and loving the whole new set up!"
-
Neeld pours heat on Demons
FFS, he has spoken to the players one on one, and presumably in some detail. And he hasn't cast "aspersions on their prospects at all". I took it as positive encouragement and direction more than anything else. Sorry, but really bizarre post IMHO.

Neeld pours heat on Demons
The cynic in me instantly went back to one of Clark's first interviews where he spoke of wanting to 'earn the trust of his new team mates'. Still, good on him. I feel it also goes to show how important it is to have real A-list stars and senior players around to set the pace. In spite of everything, Brisbane still has a couple of those, whereas we're in pretty short supply. Reading some of these articles makes me amazed that we actually did as well as we did last year! Talk about a shonky outfit (off-field/FD) ...

Neeld pours heat on Demons
Yes, it's going to take 12 months ... but I'm still excited by 2012. How can we not be, whole new FD, fitness dept, maturing players ... Really looking forward to it. But Neeld ... certainly talks the talk. To publicly start naming names like that ... ouch. Aaron Davey must be looking for a hole to crawl into ...
