And so another demeanIng chapter closes and we move on.
Hopefully it gets scrapped now, but I think they like having it up their sleeve. For what circumstances is anyone's guess.
It's for when the teams with huge fan bases and provide all the $ need one.

I find this whole dressing up "tradition" quite cringe worthy to be honest.
I think it was Geelong who started it after winning a Grand Final in what 2007 (?), now it seems every single team has to participate for some reason.
I don't know, maybe I'm just bitter that we are now going into year 9 of being a completely garbage team that has sucked seriously dog's balls once again.

Anyone remember the word Ponzi.
George Soros once said;
"When the tide goes out (i.e a run on the "money")everyone gets to see who isn't wearing any clothes".
Warren Buffett?

I agree. He's switched on. He'll coach to our strengths.
We have strengths? News to me.

The Defininition of "List Management/Tanking" 2009...Let us remember to always put that date with either of those 2 words...very important.
Will be the Numero uno issue for our lawyers at this stage...the recanting or back Tracking of B. Mclean should be a close second...on this point i applaud him, he may now realize just how serious those "off the cuff" remarks became.
However frustrated he may have been the club played within the 2009 rules unless the AFL can prove otherwise, and it was the MFC who paid Mclean's wages at that time.
Maybe the chiefs at Carlton had a little word in Brock's ear before he went back to be interviewed. I doubt Carlton would want the MFC raising their name in any response we put together to the AFL's supposed evidence.

As a MFC member, I expect the players to live their lives as a normally as possible. If they choose to go to the Boxing Day test, why not! 65,000 other supporters did. If they chose to drink on their holiday, why not! 99.5% of people on holidays have a bevy.
The REAL QUESTION is, Why are MFC players celebrating with ...........
.............McLean factor only
Brock wasn't with them, just some fat bloke that looks like him.

So what bothers you more? The fact that they were having a few beers on their break from pre-season training, or the fact that their names got mentioned in a media beat up?
What bothers me most is the fact that we've been virtually unwatchable for the last 6 years, that the club crap on about elite performance, that they decided to sit in bay 13 at the cricket, that they thought it would be "fun" to put together a beer cup boat, the fact that they were drunk in public and the fact that they were ejected in public.
The simple FACT is we won one meaningful game last year and I'm god damn tired of it. This sort of stuff makes me wonder if any of them give a shyte about us going to every single game and watching their sorry ar$es get handed to them every single week.

I find this thread very disturbing, and i'm not referring to the behaviour of our players.
Can't believe people get so riled up about such a non-issue.
Me either, I mean who gives a stuff if we're crap for another five years or so. The whole "elite performance" mantra the club is trying to employ is complete bollocks anyway.

<blockquote class="ipsBlockquote" data-cid="680122" data-author="The Song Formerly Known As"><p>who cares.</p></blockquote><br />I reckon Mark Neeld would care.<br /><br /><br />

I'm not sure it was Neeld in particular that didn't like our senior players, more the club as a whole.

Relax! We've got this.

NFL
in Other Sports
Insane amount of upsets this year. Over 60% of underdogs have won this year including an amazing 11 of 13 on Sunday.
-
People forget quickly just how rubbish Melbourne were this year. Being worried about pick 20 being "overs" is silly, we would be getting an experienced, strong and proven forward who would be a pillar to the team's structure.
Totally agree - what are we gonna do with pick 20 other than draft Addam Maric 2.
-
The AFL will remove this now that Sydney have their flags a la Brisbane.
I bet it will somehow cost more to live on the Gold Coast and a certain and specific pocket west of Sydney soon though.

Some people on DL are just over optimistic sometimes.
We ll have to decide between Viney or Toumpas
I'm am so far from an optimist when it comes to this club it isn't funny mate. It does seem like we're doing a good job at making them believe though.
In the end we will use pick 3 because we're a loser club. It's that simple in my eyes. Is that optimistic enough for you?

Suns list manager Scott Clayton on Jack Viney: "As much as his family has been very Melbourne ... things change."
Excellent. Hopefully they're starting to believe we won't take him.
-
I can understand why he is saying this. The club too often treats people like commodities and is willing to throw them to the wolves when they are no longer of value. I think that he is sick of being arsed around. Give the lad a commitment and end all the BS now.
You would be the worst poker player in the world!
-
Great idea! GET HIM!
Let's also get Ablett and Jobe to go with him!!
-
Hahaha - funny stuff.
-
GC have plenty of players to trade, if we can't broker a deal that see Viney at second round,
then our blokes aren't much chop.
If Essendon were in this situation, or Collinwood, what would happen? They wouldn't be using pick 3 put it that way.
Exactly right.
Axis - Collingwood would make their FS refuse to meet with GCS and if he did he would make it clear that he would return to Melborne the day his contract finishes. Their president would be on the radio saying "if they bid, it's war, he's clearly not worth pick 2" and then they wouldn;t bid on him and get him back to Melbourne as soon as the contract is finished.
We will get owned by GCS, I'm very sure of it.

So we have picks 2 & 3! Woohooo!
-
Good chance he may have to come back to Melbourne, cap in hand, if he wants to continue playing AFL football; by putting us offside he's effectively burnt his bridges but we may have something if all else fails, who knows.
Moloney is done at Melbourne - I guarantee it.
-
Is Martin a bit of a jack of all trades and master of none? I see him as very versatile but only just average in the forward and backlines and fairly average in the ruck and around the ground. He can look good and then the complete opposite a minute later.

Demonland Podcast will return for the Draft
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
@ GrapeViney towards the end of the podcast last night you said you were going to Bali and were worried you wouldn't be able to watch the footy as Australia TV channel had the Dogs vs North game on. When I was in Bali last year a bar we went to had a dodgy stream from far north Queensland showing the Collingwood vs Melbourne game so I think you will definitely be able to find a sports bar doing the same thing. Shouldn't be any need to download the AFL app or anything. Just thought I'd let you know.
