  1. For example caps, pins, T shirts, pens, radios, or may be a snuggie?

I hope I am right in picking up the sarcasm in that comment, but please don't go giving them any ideas!!!! The day the MFC put Demon Snuggies on sale is the day I dump a tonne of cow manure in front of the rectangular stadium/Casey/MCG offices.

  2. Yeah you're right, although I reckon we would have a few Gold Members (myself included I am quite proud to say ;). I know this is a little OT, but is there a level above Gold? I can't find any references to the levels on the club's website.

I am all for a return to a "demonic" logo. I think end of next year would be a perfect time to reintroduce it as we start our ascent of the ladder and other teams start fearing us. This is, of course, on the proviso that it is a fierce, fearsome demon and not some cartoon character.

  3. Number 3 gets my vote. Number 2 is almost exactly what you can buy at the merchandise stands around the G and 1 is just horrid.

Maybe we could come up with a new piece of clothing/symbol of recognition instead of the scarf. Whilst I like it, I have that many at home I simply don't know what to do with them. Would it be worthwhile to somehow add the level of membership (Bronze, Silver, Gold etc.) to the scarf to recognise and distinguish longer-term members?

  4. Robbo's time is up and it has been for a while. Thanks for the memories but you are not part of the future or the culture that is required with it.

and exactly who do we replace him with next year?

  5. I do need to say it because I think over his career he has been a fantastic player for the MFC, but I thought at the start of the season he was a horrid choice as captain. Seemed as if we chose him because he had been around the longest. I have heard a number of his teammates reinforce in interviews that "he is a good leader off the field". That's all good and well but I want a bloke who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way on the field every week, and at the moment Junior looks like he is really struggling under the added responsibility.

  6. I agree that Miller is in a lot of trouble at the end of the year. Unfortunately just has not produced enough over his career at the Demons. The one who I would hate to see go is Cam Bruce. I understand there are many haters out there in Demonland, but save for the odd wobbly kick I think he adds so much class and composure to our half-back line moving into the midfield. Despite what many may think he reads the play magnificently - if you want evidence of that just watch the West Coast game. Knows when and where to run, when to give a little linking handpass and provides much stronger leadership than Junior Mac (as much as I hate to say it). Also, he has kicked some classy goals this year. With a little work on his footskills I think he can be a really important player for at least another 2 or 3 years.

  7. Absolutely no doubt that he loves and bleeds for this football club, which is exactly what you want from a culture perspective. The thing I have been disappointed with this year is his "sookiness". The Queen's Birthday game was a shocker, where after flying for an impossible speccy he landed on his a*se and thumped the ground without getting up to put in a second effort. It is not the thing you want our youngsters to be seeing. He also made a point in media interviews prior to his return that he was raring to go and would be back to his best, which in my opinion has not been the case.

HOWEVER...I think while we continue to lack a strong, power forward there is no point getting rid of him. His ability to pull a goal out of his behind and split open a game (as evidenced against Sydney a few years ago) gives him that X-factor which is half the reason I go and watch every week. I would love to see him go out on a high as he has been a great servant for the club. With a solid pre-season behind him, who knows what may happen?!

  8. The thing that annoys me is, at least in the MCC Members, you can hear the crap they play from their "Worst Pop/Rock of the 80s" album during the pre-match, but as soon as the theme songs are played someone fiddles with the volume. Credit where credit is due however, when we won on Saturday it was blaring out of the speakers behind us. No better feeling than pumping it out with 200-odd other MFC/MCC members/supporters. Not a feral in sight ;)

  9. Sometimes I really wonder if I have been watching the same games as half of you!?! I can't count the number of times I have seen Ricky on the Members wing surrounded by 2 or 3 opposition and put in a super effort to hold them up or lay a tackle and bring the ball carrier to the ground. His second and third efforts have been tremendous, and his goal kicking is a far sight better than that of half our other forwards.

Let's not forget this is a kid who at this time last year suffered a life-threatening tension pneumothorax which no doubt hampered his pre-season. I am really looking forward to him proving his critics wrong by bulking up over the off-season and really becoming a target down forward or even moving into the midfield with a bit of speed training.

  10. Quote (Brettmcg in the car on the way home from the 'G on Saturday):

"I have only watched him for 5 minutes, but I saw nothing to indicate why he should have been the #2 draft pick." ^_^

    Bit of deja-vu really.

Honestly though, anyone who expects an 18 year old like Jacky-boy Watts to split open a game in his first, second or third game - especially in a losing team and with the added pressures of VCE etc. - is kidding themselves. Lets wait a few years when he will kick a bag and win us our 13th, 14th and 15th premierships!
