  1. Just on Zomer, I was suprised by his size and athleticism for Casey, today. He may still have a future.
  2. The thing about Moloney this season, in comparison to others, is that to me, it seems he's actually playing smarter footy. It past seasons, he'd just bomb away, using his long kick to slam it 55, but to no one in particular. This year, he seems to have lowered his vision and instead of worrying about just kicking it longer, has sumed up the situation a little better. In other words, I'd agree he has improved, but like you say, he's not an elite deliverer of the ball and that's what we need a lot of, IMO.
  3. Come to think of it, he did look a bit ginger during and following a few contests, right in front of us, on the wing/forward flank.
  4. Actually, if you look back over the past 3 seasons, we've been consistently hit with injuries. Hopefully, we'll get things right when we start pushing for the big one.
  5. True. I'd really like to see Bate play across half forward and even Watts and Jurrah on occasion.
  6. The aspect I really like about this team is the potential for fantastic delivery into our forwardline from that midfield...with the exception of Moloney. Green and Davey are arguably the best kicks in our side, Grimes is no bunny and Sylvia can do it all. Add Scully and Trengove and you'll see our efficiency inside forward 50 sky rocket, as the delivery will be quick and accurate.
  7. Make sure we get the picks. Not worth the risk...unless the only team we beat is Carlton.
  8. I heard about this. Are we not paying the school fees for a school in another state? If so, it'll be Jack Viney, as he's attending private school over in SA.
  9. Spencer excites me. He's raw, but he has a lot of upside. I don't think we lack depth in our backline. That is the one area of the ground that we do have depth. The beauty of guys like Frawley and Garland is their ability to play on smalls, as well as the bigger guys.
  10. A number of people seem to be addressing the idea of having a stay at home full forward, who basically does nothing else but provide a target inside 50 and kick 4 to 5 goals a game. Is Butcher not that player then? It's funny, because people have knocked Butcher for being one dimensional, yet a lot of supporters seem to want a stay at home full forward. Which do we want?
  11. I still believe Bennell is the quickest player I've ever seen. He could easily develop into that player and rotate through the middle. You've also got Jurrah who can do it all. In the air, on the lead and on the ground. Versitility is what we need. Makes you very hard to match up on. It's certainly what Bailey is promoting. Furthermore, with a bit of confidence and when he feels he belongs, Watts will be able to get the ball on the deck too.
  12. There's no way they'd get rid of Fev. Without him there's no team. Who's going to kick the goals? Eddie Betts? Besides, would Scully fit into their midfield? Anywho, we wouldn't go for the deal, so I dunno why they're seriously bothering to entertain the thought.
  13. I figured as much, this week. One week too early to be in the team.
  14. I'd prefer PJ over Seaby. At least he has some upside...Seaby, frankly has bugger all.
  15. I'd prefer T.McNamara, R.Bail, P.Johnson, and S.Buckley. Give Sylvia one more week.
  16. I don't think this is such a strange move. I want to see Jones get more tagging roles, because if he doesn't develop that part of his game, I don't see him playing many when Scully and co arrive. I thought someone was tagging Cousins...what he did he did extremely well, but he didn't get as many disposal as I thought he would, particularly early on. He only had early 20s? I think he must have had someone tracking him. Once again, I think these are arguably good, inventive moves. The sort of moves Daniher would never make. Johnson is extremely quick and I believe could match it with Riewoldt and an aging Brown. He's lost the confidence to ruck properly and play forward, but giving him a job, where he is to just beat one player and nothing else, is probably good for him at the moment. A lot of people (especially in the papers) don't seem to be giving Johnson credit for his speed and agility. Okay, so he's been disappointing this season, but he certainly boasts those two characteristics. I've gotta say I didn't notice this. Good pick up. I was genuinely enthralled (almost nail biting) and hoping for a loss that I didn't pick up a rather obvious detail like this. Having said all of the above, I agree with you. Massive experimentation, but I still think a few of the moves that have been pointed out, aren't quite as bizarre as some would have you believe. Furthermore, in term's of player output, Carlton's was absolutely woeful, whereas we tried our guts out. Don't do this. Robbo is the sort of player that would do well against a struggling side, but no one else. He'd probably move himself to full forward anyway. It seems you might get your wish here. Bail hardly had a touch in the Casey 1sts last week, but apparently he may play this week. Whilst, Zomer apparentloy had a good one, by his standards this season. Once again, this is ideal. I think Moloney will be out for one more, but there's no way we can keep Sylvia and Morton out again. Although, the media hasn't picked up on Morton yet, but they're hot on Sylvia. Agreed, though.
  17. This is a surprise, I must say. Peter German said they might have brought him up a week too early to the Casey seniors and now all of a sudden he's going to get an AFL starting berth? Well, I suppose that is clever list management. Good luck to him.
  18. We tried getting Seaby (was it last season or the one before that?). I don't think we'll have another go, because Bailey and co seem to be focused on purely young talent, not rejects. Still, I could be wrong.
  19. That makes me feel a lot more confident. Thanks for that, PeterJames!
  20. Scully is an inside mid, but he's also an outside mid. I'm not sure which video you've watched of him, AzzKikA, but are you sure it's Tom Scully? He wins the ball on the inside and also racks up possessions running past players. He can win the ball anywhere and everywhere. If he keeps the ball on a string, like he's done when I've watched him, at AFL level, then he'll be a superstar. To say he's just like what we've got is ridiculous. Colin Sylvia and perhaps Jack Grimes are the only other two players, on our list, that have shown me that they can win the ball out or in.
  21. Well said, Redleg. I strongly agree.
  22. This is an interesting topic actually. I was thinking about it myself, yesterday. Whilst, watching the Eagles v Essendon match, Worsfold used this tactic a number of times, to allow free players on the wing.
