Seems like a lovely kid, but I've made my peace with Toumpas not making it. We move on. I think he'll be traded at year's end.

It's actually quite similar to the team that beat Geelong... -

Reckon he'll get one more year to prove himself, but not sure he's going to make it. -
What do we trade for Prestia then?
-
Who the hell is this guy? Haha.

I'm sure that's what PJ told him yesterday before he became an Olympic-level back pedaller. -

Melbourne Football Club Supporter Syndrome. ie. Constant negativity, due to years of failure. -
Some serious questions asked about Paul Roos ...

How the [censored] would Thomas know any of that? Pipe down, Thomas. You were a failure as a coach and an ordinary footballer. -
Not that this is the point, Collingwood won a flag 5 years ago and Richmond are looking dangerous this year. Hardwick is the new Daniher. His teams will never make it, but they'll win their fair share to get to finals. Not particularly apt comparisons. Further, I don't want an apology for the past. I do want my team to play to an AFL standard now though. Is that alright with you?

The problem with this is that it's a blanket statement and it shits on the supporters who don't have MFCSS like say... me. And many others. Clearly you don't suffer from MFCSS either, rpfc. -

It's interesting. I went into the Geelong game thinking we had absolutely no chance. My sister thought we'd win. I then went into the St Kilda, Essendon and Carlton games thinking we'd spank them. I was wrong. I'm at the stage of thinking we could just as easily beat Freo this week, given how pitiful we've been. I think I've been reasonably positive this year. That's why I've found it so frustrating. If you go in with low expectations and apathy, you don't end up being as negative. If you have expectations, you end up being incredibly negative when your players dish up crap. Obviously, the negativity that we're talking about is the self-pitying, no-hope attitude, but personally from the top of this season I had higher expectations. For mine, this can't be an excuse this year. When your side is so inconsistent, you approach every match with some sense of dread. -
Doubt it. I reckon he'll stay in Melbourne.
-
People aren't taking into account the inconsistency of a younger side. Many Demonlanders predicted we'd win games that we wouldn't be expected to win and drop games we'd be expected to win. That is exactly what has happened. Doesn't make it any less frustrating and it doesn't excuse the pitiful lack of effort on the weekend, but it does go some way to explaining it. The 7 win internal target would have factored precisely this sort of form into the equation.
-
There's a difference between being ruthless and being utterly stupid too.
-
Well, there it is.
-
Each to their own, mate. I think 7 was a perfectly reasonable target given where we've been. I thought we'd win 6-8 games, so realistically I agreed with them. Next year for finals is aspirational.

Turn it up. I've never voted a board in or out. I probably had faith in Gary Lyon (despite it obviously being misplaced) because I was 'supportive' of the club and I applauded footy in the 2000s, because I was a supporter and we were winning. So you're saying it's our fault for not supporting them, but at the same time, you're also condemning us for supporting them as well? Nice logic. And well done for painting us all with the same brush. I'm not being paid to play for the MFC or to coach them, but I do pay my membership every year and pay entrance to bloody Etihad, Skilled Stadium and any other hell hole we end up playing in. The fans deserve a little bit of respect for sticking by this club. Take a look around the league. Half of Carlton and Essendon's members have jumped off in two lean years. We've had 8 or 9 of them. We're still here.

[censored]. How do the supporters possibly induce the players into negativity? Anyone with half a brain could see we weren't switched on from the first bounce against Carlton. Roosy has been brilliant for our club, but if he's going to take criticism from the supporters personally, he shouldn't be responding to emails. Do not have a go at the supporter base. You do not want to get them off side. Not to mention it's unprofessional. Just cop it on the chin. You're being paid a mill per annum. -
The Geelong and Hawthorn examples aren't comparable. Both teams were playing in finals semi-regularly. We've been pitiful for almost a decade. That's when defeatism naturally sinks in. We are not to blame. It's the [censored] players and the coaches inability to empower the players to put in consistently.
-
Why is Gardner commenting? Who cares what he has to say? It's not like he was a past great. His comments only seek to undermine Roos, which in turn is a stab at the hierarchy of the club. He can't come out and say PJ has done a bad job, because PJ has achieved more off field than Gardner did at any time. It's calculated white anting.
-
Thing is Gardner has destabilised the club before and finally we have a bit of stability and he's trying it again. [censored] off, Paul. Take your ego out of it. Your tenure was a failure.
