  1. Port Melbourne struck a bit of a purple patch dominating play with the wind scoring four goals before Casey skipper Mitch White takes a set shot and goals. The Demons trail 13 to 27 at about the 20 minute mark.
  2. The Demons are wearing an indigenous strip and a special smoking ceremony took place before the game which is now under way. First blood to the Demons with a goal inside a minute to Roan Steele followed up by a point to Oskar Baker to give Casey a 7 - 0 lead.
  3. A number of changes have been made to the starting lineup with Mitch Brown going into the Melbourne team to play Adelaide (replacing the injured Luke Jackson). Three of the emergencies for the Adelaide game are also out of the side — Jake Melksham, Adam Tomlinson and Jacob Van Rooyen. Their replacements are Tyler Edwards, Luca Goonan, George Grey and Miles Shepherd. This leaves only ten players on the Melbourne AFL list representing Casey today.

  5. Last week Casey made seven changes to its lineup (and look at the result) but this week, it’s likely that the changes will be minimal. I agree that Jayden Hunt is likely to remain the sub in an unchanged MFC team with the other emergencies to come from M Brown, Chandler, Dunstan and Tomlinson. One of those four will also go to Adelaide and therefore be the second “change” to the Casey side. Coming in will be James Munro and one other from the Casey list - most likely Miles Shepherd who flew north with the team last week but didn’t play. He was nevertheless awarded Casey’s trademark player of the week for his dedication and support of the team, efforts that should be duly awarded when the team for this week is announced.
  6. Thanks also from me to dazzledavey36. It would appear that the delayed updates applied only to the statistics for the Casey team. Until they get their act together we’ve decided not to rely on the stats the VFL/AFL put up immediately after games. The initial figures for some of the club’s better young guns were among the ones that understated their output for the game and it was unfair to them in particular that their day's output was misrepresented.
  7. Andy Moniz-Wakefield has been terrific all year. He will definitely play some good footy in years to come.

  25. The odd man out among the seven “ins” for Casey is 19 year old former Oakleigh Chargers tall Ryan Valentine. All of the other inclusions for this week are Melbourne listed players while 196cm tall Valentine has been brought in to basically cover for Josh Smith who was very impressive on debut recently but was injured in the game against Collingwood VFL a fortnight ago. Ironically, Valentine who is on the Old Scotch VAFA roster was previously on the Magpies’ VFL list. He is expected to lend a hand in the ruck and forward duties. He was at the Chargers in their 2019 premiership squad and remained in their squads through to last year therefore was a teammate of previous number 1 draft picks in Matt Rowell, Jamara Ugle-Hagan as well as other elite draft selections in Noah Anderson and Nick Daicos and some other well-credentialed picks including our own Bailey Laurie so he should feel right at home playing with Casey.
