Casey Demons: 2019
While the focus at Casey Fields today will be on the Demons’ training session this morning, the news from the Casey Demons for one prospective player - Darcy Fritsch (brother of Bayley) is very promising. Paul Amy quotes coach Jade Rawlings as follows - “He’s been one of the standouts throughout the summer. I don’t think he’s missed a session, his attitude is first-class and he’s really improving.''

CHANGES 2018 by The Oracle
The one delisting that surprised me was Hugh Goddard at St Kilda. He’s a key defender and was outstanding for Sandringham against Casey on 11 August in VFL Round 19 when he was clearly the Zebras’ best in a game where they challenged the Demons until well into the final quarter. That was the day that Bernie Vince injured his shoulder early on and Dean Kent was the hero with 3 goals 3 behinds. Thinking back, this must have been the day that Kent impressed the St Kilda people as his was a dynamic performance and it also got him back into the MFC team. Goddard’s performance in a losing team was outstanding but two things stand against him being picked as a delisted free agent - he has had a history of injuries and plays key defence where the club will be well served with Jake Lever’s return and the possible recruitment of Steven May.

HATCH MATCH & DESPATCH 2018
Stunned by that. He played a fantastic game a few weeks back for Sandringham. I thought he was going to get a promotion to the Saints seniors, not the flick. Could it be another case of proposed rookie listing?

Sam Weideman
There have definitely been some subtle changes in Sam’s role. He’s stronger, is doing more ruck work around the ground and is becoming a well rounded player, rather than type cast as a KPF. He needs a breakout game at AFL level and if that happens, we won’t see much more of him at Casey.

Young Casey Demon a Kiwi
Congratulations to one of the Casey Demon young guns Mykelti Lefau who has been chosen to represent his home country of New Zealand against the AFL Academy Australian Under 17s at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Monday April 24. Playing for St Kilda City Under 19s in the Southern Football League late last year Lefau had a match to remember, drilling 25 of his team’s 28 goals in a big victory over Carrum Patterson Lakes. He has already impressed with Casey and we wish him well in his first game for the Kiwis.
