GAMEDAY - Preliminary Final vs Eagles
Demon Disciple replied to Neitz the Great's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good to see we haven’t given up. As demoralising as it would be knowing for the best part of 3 quarters we aren’t GF bound, we need to keep playing until the final siren. -

It was always going to be a huge ask going over to Perth in a PF and winning. It shows how much work we still need to do. The past few weeks have been hugely positive, 4 full weeks of being on such an emotional high for everyone at the club, just disappointing that our down period has turned out the way it has. The playing group are clearly mentally and emotionally exhausted. Hopefully this loss doesn’t cause too much damage to our psyche and we learn from it. I would like to see at least some response from the boys, in our last 2 quarters for the year -

Umpires have had nothing to do with it Jaded. We are playing dumb football, they are playing simple direct football. there is no leadership out there today, Gawn has been unsighted, Smith is simply not good enough for AFL, Tyson is simply horrendous, Lewis has been pathetic, Our forward line seems non-existent, our backline is constantly under pressure and our midfield has simply not turned up. We are getting a brutal lesson on what it takes to get through to a GF. Cannot sit pretty with previous results. It was a thrilling few finals wins, but unless it’s done on the big stage, it all counts for squat. This is not a wake-up call as we have played some great finals football, but hopefully the boys recognise just how much it takes to get to the promise land. Hopefully it won’t be another 18 year’s until we are in another pre-lim. -

Was a pathetic quarter. They looked extremely anxious and continually panicked, so whatever was said before the game hasn’t worked. good thing is there are still 3 quarters to go, bad thing is there is still 3 quarters to go -

Out of our control and all up to the boys now. FWIW, I think the Weagles might start cacking themselves thinking of playing the Pies at the G come GF day, reckon our boys would relish it. -
Boo hoo that should we win today, we have to beat the Pies next week. If we want to be premiers, it has to be anyone, anytime, anywhere. Pies were fantastic tonight. Have they played their GF tonight? Don’t know, but it would be a Herculean effort for them to repeat what they did 2 weeks in a row. Got to get there first though. We win we have a chance, either way WCE has next to no chance IMO.
-
Just got to get it done tomorrow. Pies showed tonight that anything is possible on game day.

Whitfield................... yes please -
Tyson is a better disposer of the ball by foot than Shiel is. Wouldn't break the bank for him.

Neither Pies or Tiges have 2 genuine KPF's. Will be back in should we progress to next week. -

If we swap Smith for Fritsch it would be a huge blunder IMO. I do not rate Smith at all. When he was fit and playing in the team he practically did SFA. Fritsch is a much better decision-maker and disposer of the ball, plus he gets to way more contests than Smith could ever dream to. Throw in Bailey's versatility and it should be a no-brainer. -

Powers at AFL once again trying to stop our run. Don't mind Razor, likes to perform on the big stage but doesn't award too much crap. Nicholls is a disgrace of an umpire. Impartial my donkey. Meredith is the one who really concerns me though, was paying anything and everything to Hawthorn at the start of the 4th last week. Hopefully Razor keeps them in check. -
If we beat the Eagles in the prelim I will ...

The Junction Oval was rocking on the Thursday before the 2000 GF. -
i reckon he'll be a shadow of himself when he returns to the game.

we'll have too many players taking votes off each other to contest the brownlow. No such problem for Mitchell and the Hawks.
