we've got some rumours for u.f.c 145 to be held in Sydney early march.... Jon Jones vs Rashad Evans Martin Kampmann vs Thiago Alves Travis Browne vs Roy Nelson me likes

Bad luck about the multi, i assume you were getting better odds on Bowles? Faber doesn't lose too many. as usual i didn't catch this live and have only just watched the replay....... best card of the year i reckon. Wandy v Le was a great fight, very happy to see some vintage Wandy after i suggested he should retire. it seems like he has had a bit of sh!t going on in his life lately so hopefully that was the reason for his last performance. it probably was an early stoppage, but after i had a look at Cung's face i couldn't blame a ref for stopping that. Hendo v Shogun was up there with the best ufc fights of all time. it was strange the way Hendo almost finished him and Shogun looked gassed and gone, then the tables got turned and heading into the last i thought Hendo was finished.......just a classic fight and an excellent points decision. was really impressed with Stephan Bonner too even though the crowd hated it. D.A your next 2 predictions look like "heart" predictions i'm gonna split the difference and take Miller over the "count" (minus the 'o') and i think Jones would have to make a big mistake to lose to Machida.......but you never know.

I feel like unleashing on B.J........ that was a [censored] performance. for a guy who always has questionable cardio, to gas early in the second is simply not good enough. i've always loved the guy but the one thing he got right on the night was retiring. i know fighters almost never go out on a winning note as they think they are the best until they get beat up, but this one is really sour imo, he could have got more out of himself. i actually liked Diaz back when he taunted Robbie Lawler and then took him apart, now i can't stand the guy, and no part of me wants to see him beat GSP, and i would be amazed if he did. Every time i have seen Cerrone fight he has looked a million bucks......he smashed Siver. Whats wrong with cowboys?.......Eves Edwards.....Cerrone........I want to be a cowboy!!! just not brokeback mountain style. getting close to tics for Sydney again with no rumours of fights yet. the card might not be all that great since i think they are planning the first ufc double header that weekend. still, i'll be there with bells on and if anyone is interested i can probably sort a tic or 2. also planning a vegas trip next year to watch one at the holy grail..........i'm starting to firm up just thinking about it.
-
Frankie edgar is soo much better than i gave him credit for, that fight was unbelievable. although i still think Maynard will curse himself for holding back too much. watching the K Flo v Aldo fight and whilst admiring Kenny, i couldn't help but think he is just not good enough to be champ and hold for long imo. he wasn't getting smashed, but was clearly not in the same class. here is where i put my nuts on the line........... Sonnen will beat Anderson Silva.
-
interesting...... i agree with you about Jones in every way. there is something about him i don't like and i would love to see him get smashed, but aside from a lucky bomb, i haven't seen a current fighter at LHT who can seriously challenge him. btw...i loved Tank Abbott! i know what you mean though and it was a sad day when Tank started getting done by heel hooks he could do nothing about. the sport is better now though. not many pubs show UFC, i've asked at many! costs too much to show it vs how many people show up to watch it. there is the odd one here and there popping up though.

i think it's fair to say 135 was a good day for the bad guys started with Nate Diaz looking the best i have ever seen him in smashing Gomi........damn shame then a forgettable heavyweight fight between Travis Browne and Rob Broughton, with Browne winning......meh another heavyweight clash followed with our very own claimed kiwi Mark Hunt fighting Ben Rothwell. well this fight actually made me exhausted just watching it, they both gassed halkfway through the second, and i think thats being kind! nonetheless a good win to Mark Hunt, hopefully the ufc keep giving him these kind of match-ups Matt Hughes and Josh Koscheck was next in a fight that Kos should have won and did.....well done turd. please retire Matt Hughes. Main event between Rampage and Jones was a good fight, and whilst i was always hoping rampage would land a big bomb to get him back in it, reality was Jones was just way too good for him. too much reach, too much speed, too much agility.......he looked like Anderson Silva at times. He beat up Rampage for 3 rounds then finished him off with a choke, the first time Rampage has ever been finished in the ufc. Love him or hate him, Jones is the real deal. i didn't catch the prelims but overall it was a good card, just unfortunate the bad guys won. One of my favs Yves Edwards fighting again today in what must be close to his last chance
-
I still like the sound of Condit vs GSP, i just hope Condit has been working on his take-down defense and we might just have a cracker of a fight. If he hasn't, GSP will wrestle him a new one......if thats possible! Some very tasty match-ups in that bunch.
-
Yeah it was good to see Lytle go out like that but you're right, Hardy does need a win, it would be a shame to lose him. Didn't get to the afc, I didn't know about it til the night it was on. Good job Jesse got done. Wayne Carey........what a guy.

the freak show continues....... i have been following boxing most of my life, seen Tyson in his prime not to mention all the other great boxers of the era, then picked up on u.f.c, and Anderson Silva is without question the best fighter i have ever seen. his striking accuracy is ridiculous, and he knocks them down with single jabs.........mad. Enjoyed the whole Rio card except seeing Griffen get smashed, i just wanna see him win another fight soon before he is lost to the sport. didn't see the prelims but will check them out. did you see the Lytle v Hardy fight? and on the same card was a great fight between Ben Henderson and Jim Miller, worth a watch. unfortunately Kyle Noke got done.
-
Good card, and even though i'm not big on Rashad it was great to see Tito smashed and making excuses again. where does he get off wearing that top btw? "the peoples champ"? nobody likes you....what people are you talking about? will be good to see Rashad and Jones but i'm thinking Rashad will need to be at another level to be a chance. Vitor looked great, sexyama doesn't get k'od much but Vitor smashed him and his hands looked as good as ever. Ebersole was great, the hairy arrow must bring him good luck. i hope he continues. you're right about mcDonald, how good did he look? Riviera looked horrible......wonder how many more he's got. very keen to see how Dan Hardy goes against Chris Lytle tomorrow (even though i'll be on a delay again!) and also Kyle Noke will get a good test against Ed Herman.

fair points, particularly the wrestling part which is probably what Sots needs most of all oddly enough. would help his takedowns no end. i guess his striking is ok, he just doesn't look dangerous on his feet to me, maybe just a lack of power, but then again not everyone is Anderson Silva. i still have a little faith in his chin though, unlike a Wandy or Chuck. i haven't seen the whole Kongo V Barry card but i have seen the main fight.....MAD! never seen anything like it. Barry's head will be a mess after that fight and not just from the K.O. After the Crocop fight when he backed off and should have finished him, he did the opposite in this fight (and fair enough since Kongo was in a world of hurt) and still got K.O'd!!! poor bastard.

Best card of the year IMO. Siver was very, very lucky, but it was a close fight. Tito shits me, Bader should have owned him but now has a black cross beside his name after losing to that [censored]. Condit was sensational, he doesn't look much but damn he's got some skills. Wandy is fininshed IMO, taking a look at the first shot he took it wasn't even flush, more of a glancing blow. love the guy, but his time has come. No sure about the glass jaw call on Sots, it was a massive shot that dropped him and even though the ref correctly stopped the fight, he recovered fairly quickly i thought. he took Siver's shots pretty well in the fight before too so it might be a wait and see on Sots. He will have dropped off in the rankings though and does need to work on his stand-up. the main fight was great, didn't really have a preference, i like both guys and they put on a very good show. correct decision. Great card.....more of these please.

Been a bit slack on u.f.c of late......but agree with pretty much all that about 131. i have a real soft spot for Yves Edwards, he was definately my favourite fighter in the early days of the sport and i really hope the guy gets a break cos that K.O was horrible. scary thing is, he hit Stout with a pretty good shot just as his lights went out. hats off to Stout. i like Kenny, good to see him win, but you're right about him not being in the same class as Aldo. Next heavyweight fight should be a beauty, and i'm looking forward to seeing Wandy fight again soon. Haven't seen Kongo and Barry, will definately check it out.

yuck......makes that card look a whole lot worse.

Loved the card except the main show. Man Jake Shields just looks like a battler. i thought he got rocked a couple of times but it was just his normal stiff stance! GSP does need to finish someone and he also needs to man up when he gets injuries, he seems to get the sulks a bit. Aldo and Homminick was an awesome fight, Homminick a little stiff not to finish Aldo in the second after Aldo looked in deep trouble. was odd the way he gassed so early, but he came back well as champions do. loved the welt on Homminick's forehead......What Tha!!!!! The Dragon was great and Randy wasn't. Amazing that even when Randy grabbed him in the clinch he couldn't hold him.......he had nothing. farewell to a legend. Fantastic they sold out a 56,000 odd stadium. next card looks the goods too.

agree about the choke, but really if you had have told me this was going to be a stand-up fight i would have said Daley wins easily. not a big fan of either of these guys, but i gotta take my hat off to Diaz. after his time in the ufc i thought he was just an average fighter, but he's better than that. i still think he'll be back in the pack if Strikeforce and ufc merge at some stage, but he'll be part of some big fights.
-
agree with your take on the gsp/shields fight, i've only seen Shields fight a few times and i must admit i'm a bit surprised he's got a crack at gsp so early. it must have been part of his contract to cross over from strikeforce. i think gsp will dominate but you never know in this sport. not sure if we've all seen the Diaz vs Daley fight on Strikeforce, but if not, it's well worth a look.....cracking fight.
-
I hadn't heard the big fella was in retirement mode although it's probably fair enough given a couple of losses has taken away the aura a little. If the UFC plan to take the cream of strikeforce i wouldn't think Diaz would be part of the plan, but then again maybe they want some bad guys. I'm gonna go for Jones in the main event, but like you, i would love it shogun k.o'd him.
-
Apparently the UFC have purchased strikeforce. thats one way to get Fedor. Looking forward to UFC 128, and i believe we are represented with Nostradeemus so i would expect a full report. predictions later........not that mine are any good.
-
Dana has a guy who scouts locations and i believe speaks to people about sanctions, and he was in melbourne during the week.
-
actually i just checked my copy and Perosh wasn't on it anyway! didn't chat to Bruce personally, but he actually went out of his way to talk to a mate of mine who was wearing a Bruce Buffer Silver Star top and said "i've gotta get a photo with anyone wearing that top" All the fighters loved a chat and some were actually hard to shake off if you can believe that. the ufc have them extremely well educated on how to treat the general public.
-
Perosh Fight was pretty short, but he did really well. i was really happy for him after the punishment he copped last year. I've got a copy of the whole ufc including prelims if you want a copy. let me know.

If they scored the Penn/Fitch fight the way you did, then thats fair enough even though i wouldn't have scored 10-8 in the 3rd, but Fitch could not have won that fight imo. Fitch is not fun to watch, the most exciting thing about that fight was what B.J might do. We spoke to Siver's trainer that night and he said he had been working for hours on hopping on one leg. he said if it went to the ground Siver had no chance. you might be right about him and the elite fighters, but i could'nt help but think that if he hit Frankie Edgar....... We Also asked Ebersole about the head gear and the shaved arrow on his chest hair.......he said he asked the Ref if he could wear the head gear in the ring cos Lytle hits soo hard, and he shaved the arrow in his chest cos he wanted him to aim for his head not his nuts. very funny man.

Finally back after a huge weekend…… Got in on Saturday and went straight to Acer for the weigh-in and Q & A with Ken Florian, huge crowd, bigger than last year. Q&A was good, although Dana was better last year, and the usual question about an event in Melbourne came up and it seems it will happen reasonably soon. The amount of support for this even that comes from Melbourne is unbelievable. Following day at ufc, we had excellent seats, about 20mtrs from the ring. Although on paper the card wasn’t the greatest I really enjoyed the fights, we got to see a bit of everything. The judges I was not so happy with…… Kyle Noke looked really good in winning his bout and the Mark Hunt K.O was a cracker. The Nick Ring fight was a joke, there was no way he won that fight. Really liked the Fisher and Pearson fight. Disappointed for Chris Lytle who fought a dumb fight imo, but very happy for Brian Ebersole, who did some crazy things and deserved to win. Unfortunately Sots got done and although a case could be mounted that he won the last 2 rounds, it was probably a fair decision. Bisping and Rivera shaped a dirty fight and Bisping didn’t disappoint with a disgraceful Knee to the head while Rivera was down. This was not instinctive…..he had time to think before he acted. I wouldn’t have been surprised if this affected Rivera for the remainder of the fight. Then after the fight Bisping Spits in Rivera’s corner and talks some more smack to Rivera, all class. It seems he’s happy when he dishes out lip, not so happy when it’s the other way around. Penn & Fitch I had a real problem with……a scrappy fight but a good contest none the less. I.m.o Penn won this fight and not even he thought he won. In the first 2 round the most significant thing to happen was Penn taking down Fitch, Yes Fitch reversed the position both times, but Penn also stood up in his guard both times. For mine Penn won the first 2 rounds, got smashed in the third, but should have won the fight. I haven’t seen the tape, but that’s my view at this point. Take these opinions with a grain of salt because if my predictions are anything to go by, I don’t know SH*T! Later that night we hit the town and bumped into Bruce Buffer, Shandella, Pearson, Fisher, Ebersole, Bader, Herb Dean, Siver, Tuchscherer, and a few other fighters on the undercard. And the biggest Prima donna of them all…… Sots. I know the bloke lost and he was absolutely shattered no doubt, but he didn’t have to be there, he could have stayed in his room and sulked instead of carrying on the way he did. Spencer Fisher got beaten but he was still happy to put a few of my mates in a headlock for pictures. Sots was a princess. Didn’t spoil a great weekend though, and I can’t wait til next year when we might see one in Melbourne.
