Just a little bit.......... If it weren't for my [censored] mates I would be watching this show live. I think Sonnen will win this fight but I will be rooting (can I say that on here?) for Silva. Cannot wait for this one!
-
Are you serious? I've played the game at a reasonably high level and let me tell you it's not hard at all to look to the coach in the eye when he's talking to you.
-
What I would do if the coach gave me a spray as I came off....... I would look him in the eye, nod my head, and take it like a man. Cale Morton is done.
-
146 i think Junior showed he's not going to give up his title too easily, smashing Frank Mir and making him look slow and second rate. I feel for Mir......first having to beef up to compete with the likes of Brock Lesnar and then looking way to big and slow against Junior.......might be time. Cain Velasquez made a mess of Antonio Silva in more ways than one........i think Cain will get his title back at some stage, he's a beast. really pleased for 2 guys who really needed a win......Nelson because he's soo good in almost every one of his fights, but he just loses too many of them, and Dan Hardy, who i used to hate, but now have a soft spot for him and want to see him continue to add colour to the ufc. Passenger, Del Rosario has some wicked kicks on him, his legs are huge, and his striking wasn't bad either, but man did he get owned on the ground. ufc is a big step up from strikeforce for most fighters. loved Jamie Varner's performance against Edson Barboza, it wasn't just a lucky punch here and there......he beat the guy up. liked the Struve submission and also the Mike Brown V Daniel Pineda match-up......quality fight. overall a very good card.
-
Hey D.A sorry to hear about your visit to the hospital mate, hope the recovery is going ok. Passenger.......i'm going out on a limb and tipping Mir by submission and i'll also tip Big country.......other than that i think D.A is on the money. should be a good card. when i heard that the Silva V Sonnen fight was goona be in Vegas i started scrambling for my UFC mates to go to this fight as it would be unreal to Silva fight, but alas.......they didn't have the cash, and even after considering taking my Wife and four children......lol.......the Vegas trip looks like happening early next year.......Dammit!

I used to love boxing before the days of UFC, now I rarely watch it. People used to scoff when they were told UFC would take over boxing....... But not anymore. Boxing is in desperate need of some quality fighters, 3 or 4 fighters aside, they just don't have them. How old is Kostya Tszyu's son now? Lol

145 Massive build-up to this card with the main between Jones and Evans, and i was left slightly disappointed with the main show. i'm not a fan of either of these guys but i don't hate Jones as most do so i was watching from a faily neutral standpoint. i thought Jones controlled this fight from start to finish and was a little disappointed Evans didn't mix it up a bit more but i can only imagine how hard it would be to do that against Jones. Everyone i know who follows this sport was hoping for a lucky bomb to land from Evans, and if it happened, thats all it would have been, but not even that looked likely. Enjoyed watching Rory MacDonald again as he destroyed a quality opponent in Che Mills. he looks the goods.....just the state the bleeding obvious. also liked the very short Brendan Schaub v Ben Rothwell match-up. so many times now we have seen a heavyweight in trouble only to land a massive bomb to end the fight....it was Rothwell in this one. Mark Hominick V Eddie Yagin was also entertaining with Hominick seemingly winning the fight, but when you get knocked down twice in 2 different rounds you really need to dominate the rest of the fight to get the points. Hominick won the fight i thought, but the decision went to Yagin and it's hard to argue. that was about the highlights for me as i didn't catch the prelims, now looking for Miller to smash Nate Diaz in a weeks time.....please Jim FFS....

i Hadn't heard that......man that sucks. you're right about the life ban, by the time they get the all clear to come back their name is tarnished as far as i'm concerned.
-
only just caught up with this card such was my lack of enthusiasm for it. not much happened that made me think any differently or wish that i had gone to see it. agree with your thoughts and also glad to hear that there was a reason for Noke's performance. i saw Te Huna in the first (i think) UFC in Sydney and he's a big big boy and pretty shredded too. he looked a little one-dimentional in that he could wrestle and ground & pound, but i think he's added some tricks. He is of course an aussie at the moment also. D.A that avatar.......i didn't know Maynard was a dees fan.

that multi would have been huge, i imagine it would have paid big, and of all the fights to miss out on it's Shields. i can imagine the feeling when Shields took him down late in that fight! the saviour BS gives me the Sh!ts too, i mean apart from you being thankful to him for everything you do win or lose, i doubt the saviour would really want you to beat the cr@p out of some other guy!

144 just a cracking card....... not a fan of Ben Henderson at all, but he is a quality fighter. i would have liked to have seen him do a bit more to take the title from Edgar, but it was a fair enough decision and he is now the new lightweight champion. quality fight though. now someone knock him off his perch before he gets even more arrogant, if thats possible. That person might just be Anthony Pettis who had a spectacular head kick win over Joe Lauzon, and it wouldn't be the first time Pettis has beaten Henderson. not sure whats up with Rampage Jackson, but he didn't make weight and looked very ordinary against Ryan Bader. might be time for big fella to hang em up. Mark Hunt V Cheick Congo was a short fight thanks to the fantastic timing of Mark Hunt's strikes, finishing Congo early in the first. great result for Hunt, and lets not forget he's an aussie after wins like this. one of the best comebacks i have ever seen in the UFC from Tim Boetsch against Yushin Okami. Okami smashed Boetsch for 2 rounds before Boestch unleashed in the third round to pull the win from nowhere with a brutal K.O Jake Shields again showed that his strikes are pathetic, but still managed to beat sexyama somehow. the Japanese audience probably won't have liked most of the results as all the home town fighters bar one, got beaten, but it was still a very entertaining card. Alves V Kampmann in Sydney this week should be a good main event, the rest of the card still looks like a dogs breakfast.

ha ha.......you gotta laugh. what a clown.

143 Not the greatest of cards, in fact a very average card which turned out great by the loss of one little turd. Fantastic to see Carlos Condit do a number on Nick Diaz. i found it really funny that during his little tantrum after taking the loss like a man, Diaz had the nerve to complain that he wasn't hit with much after he has a made a career out of powder puff half strength punches. just like little bro against Donald Cerrone, Diaz started up with the mouth (maybe because he needs to puts guys of their game because he can't beat them on level terms), but unlike cowboy Condit was having none of it, and fought his own varied and skillful fight. Condit.......you are my hero. In other fights Roy Nelson gave a typically courageous performance in his match-up with Fabricio Werdum who was very impressive. Josh Koscheck was a little lucky to win a split decision against Mike pierce IMO but maybe that just cos i hate him. i didn't catch all the fights in the prelims, but apart from a very nice Dustin Poirier submission against Max Holloway the rest were just fights. Rashad Evans and Jon Jones is also now on the cards so that should be one to watch out for.
-
yeah i think i've seen enough of Bisping but for that weight class you are right about the options. it's a long way off so it's obviously speculative at the moment. i would love to see Ebersole Vs Dan Hardy for entertainment.
-
all good mate, it might end up up being later in the year depending on when GSP or Anderson or "insert big name here" fight in anycase. looks like there will be a Australia Vs Great Britain ultimate fighter later this year with the final being held in Brisbane and likely to feature Kyle Noke v O minus
-
thought i might also mention that i dropped a line to Dana White, or at least tried to get to him, to voice my disappointment at the Sydney card. i also mentioned that we were coming to Vegas mid-year and if they could do anything for a few hardcore aussie ufc fans. Didn't get a reply from Dana, but one of his assistants replied and told me she will "take care of you guys" when we get there. Now i'm not sure if that means Arianna will be sitting on us......i mean...with us, but it should make the trip all the better. another carrot D.A!
-
Didn't hear that Munoz had pulled out........thats a bummer, was looking forward to that fight. always like to see "O minus" get smashed, so here's hoping. $5k should cover you for the trip and i'll either buy you a beer in Vegas for your birthday or pay for your wedding....whichever comes first.

good observations. really enjoyed the card apart from the D.Q and one other gripe i have is fighters holding the cage, it's really starting to bug me. I think Aldo was on his way to his back when he held onto the cage way too long and instead ended up on his feet. you could argue that Mendes tried another 2 times to get him down with no hinderance and was unsuccessful anyway, but i really think his first attempt was his best, and Aldo was heading for his back. instead of Aldo possibly being on his back for the remainder of the round, he mainly stayed up and finished Mendes. i like Aldo alot, but i always like to see the best tested, and i feel like i missed out on a bit here. I think holding onto the cage can have such a big impact on a takedown attempt i would be prepared to deduct 2 points without warning. might sound harsh, but it deserves the loss of a round IMO. the repeated "don't hold the cage" warnings do nothing. not much interest in the guillard Vs Millar card, but really looking forward to the Evans Vs Davis card which looks a beauty. if Sydney got a card like that i would be there. you up for Vegas in July D.A or what? it's gonna be like Hangover part 3..........or maybe Bridesmaids

141 was the battle of the big boys, a combined 230 kegs between Overeem and Lesnar. When Lesnar hit the ufc scene a couple of years back, he was a beast of a man compared to anyone else in the ufc and i wondered how long it would take before they got anyone who was actually big enough to compete. after watching Overeem smash him, and finish him with body shots, i don't thnk Lesnar is a serious heavyweight contender anymore and i'm not sure he ever will be again. things change fast in this sport. Overeem on the other hand is the heavyweight champion in waiting i believe. his striking for a man that size is first class and he'll take a hell of alot of stopping. all due respect to Randy Couture, but when he was heavyweight champ not so long ago, the division sucked, now it is one of the most exciting and we should see some great match-ups in the future. the battle which held most of my interest in 141 was the match-up between Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz. i was enjoying watching Cerrone make his way up the division and he is a fighter i really like watching. unfortunately he let that [censored] Diaz get into his head before the fight when Diaz slapped his hand away at a training meeting prior to the fight.Cerrone came out in the first minute and tried to take him out with one punch....he lost his head, didn't keep his cool and got picked apart for the rest of the fight. I'm really surprised Greg Jackson let him fight like that, although the rev up he gave Cerrone going into the last round might indicate he hates the Diaz boys just like the rest of us! i really hope Cerrone comes back fom this and learns something. John Fitch i think gave us the most exciting fight i have ever seen him in by getting Ko'd in 12 seconds by Johny Hendricks. only the second loss for Fitch and he won't be all that happy about it i wouldn't think. some other handy fights in there but the main card was the pick of them and it turned out to be a pretty good card with the Cerrone v Diaz fight the best of them. back to Brazil for 142.
-
no haven't heard anything about that. strangely enough the man who is stopping it, is an old football coach of mine Hugh Delahunty. they don't like the look of the cage? gimme a break Hugh.
-
Confirmed unfortunately, pretty p!ssed off about it too. doubt that i will venture up north for this one unless the card gets some decent names.
-
I was hoping to beat you to it this week, but four kids makes it hard to find time for ufc talk! caught this one live and loved the card, one of the best. big fan of homminick.......but ummmmm....no great to see ebersole keep the streak up. what did he say....the guillotine is a myth? hard to argue with that after escaping what he did. loved watching "the people's chump" get smashed.give it away Tito....then again maybe hang around....... that was fun. the Mir and Big nog fight was great. Mir always has a quiet arrogance about him and i usually don't like that, but for some reason i have always liked Frank Mir. Luckily for him Herb hadn't been smoking any this week or it might have been stopped. just a fantastic comeback and although short, one of the most thrilling fights i've seen. Gotta tip my hat to Machida. his tactics were great, i loved the way he fought, i just think he got a little too eager towards the end of that fight when he should have pulled back a little. he was on top, i think he had Jones rattled and he certainly hit him with some really good shots. These 2 need a re-match, i would love to see Machida win, and after this fight i do think he can win. Now Dana for gods sakes get some decent names on the 145 card.......i'm getting nervous!
-
thats got the makings of a pretty good card, i'm no fan of Davis but (cover your eyes D.A) i would love to seem him smash Suga. Really interested in seeing Sonnen again also in his quest to get another crack at Anderson Silva. i would expect him to have his way with Munoz.

Jones V Evans has been in the works for a while but postponed because of injuries etc. Not sure it would matter if Jones still held the belt, so the result of the Machida fight is probably irrelevant as long as no long term injury is sustained. having said all that the fight card i suggested is only rumoured at this stage and i have my doubts about Jones V Evans in australia, but apparently Kampmann v Alves is virtually locked in. The U.F.C really want to make sure they give us a great card as a show of respect for the turn-outs to the past 2 events here. i also think it's time for us to get a title fight if possible.
