  1. They've won. Wow.
  2. Nope, just moderators who like to keep the threads somewhat tasteful.
  3. Yes, I understood the point he was making, I even said as much in my post. I just chuckled at the way it was written.
  4. Indeed. I'd always wondered what that emoticon was for, now I've finally worked it out. Otherwise it was an interesting article though. I've really enjoyed reading these. I guess the key message was to be patient as it'll be worth the wait. Time will tell, as he (Strauss) is coming from a long way back at this point.
  5. I think it is relevant. Given that Kaspersky supports us through his company, I think it's appropriate to offer support to his family during a tough time, even if it is only token.
  6. Why's that? You're not that old, old (I'm assuming 55 is your birth year). Does that also mean if we snatch a flag or several during that 2013-2018 window, it/they will be the last you'll ever see? If Gold Coast's dynasty period is 2018 on then the chances are it'd be over by ~2021. The chances are also that you'll live beyond the age of 65.
  7. The most probable answer I think is that these were the blokes who put their hands up.
  8. I deleted about five of them. I'd say Gysberts has shown more than enough to be in the starting side every week. He's already close to being our best clearence winner. I think we're only Scully (yes I see the irony here) and McKenzie away from our best 22, and Gysberts is not in my thoughts of players who could make way for them.
  9. This isn't going to become a thread about Scully, people.
  10. Gysberts contract extension. Great news. This guy really looks the goods.
  11. As with all these "team x years away", it doesn't take in to account the players drafted between now and then who come on early, it doesn't take in to account all the players whose careers have fallen flat on their faces, and it includes players who in all probability won't make it (because otherwise there's not actually enough numbers). I bet if you look at posters' "projected 2010 best 22" sides from 2007 they'd look absolutely nothing like our current side does. It's why doing these types of projections is a waste of energy.
  12. I think it's needless to say but I think you've nailed.
  13. Read rpfc's post again, then tell me which stats he looked at to see shirked contests, false bravado and short steps. I'd love to know who keeps these statistics.
  14. It might mean he's a 19 year old footballer concentrating on his rehabilitation. Now that you mention it, we haven't heard from Jack Trengove himself much in the last few weeks either. Uh-oh...
  15. I would've been surprised if Moloney hadn't have mauled the GC midfield. That game had his name written all over it. It's no surprise that our best players on the day - Moloney, Sylvia, Jamar and Trengove are all built like men (I realise Trengove is still only a baby but his body belies his age). His performance was good, excellent even, but given the size and experience of the opposition, the bar should've been raised very high to begin with. As you said RR, the real test is yet to come. The only thing really surprising was that Jones didn't dominate.
  16. Nor after it.
  17. Thanks for that Barry. Glad I continued to sift through the excrement in this thread to get some real facts.
  18. On the bright side: the longer he's out injured, the longer he's spared from idiot supporters booing him and "telling him how it is".
  19. Agreed.
  20. I've got to say I'm finding the reaction to this match amusing. We won by 90, but you'd think we lost by 90 with the way many are carrying on. I wasn't expecting flower bouquets, but I wasn't expecting death threats to Bailey either. My take on the game was that there's nothing to take. We bullied a team of kids as we should've - Beamer weighed more than their entire midfield combined and took them on accordingly. No positives or negatives worth noting for me as this game didn't reflect real match conditions.
  21. Perhaps that was the driver for making him the sub as the first place - it's probably even more effective than a week at Casey. "Here, son, sit here on the bench for three quarters and watch while your teammates hit the scoreboard hard." Nothing makes a bloke more hungry than watching all his mates eat steak.
  22. Playing "outside" isn't the issue.
  23. Kinky.
