  1. Daniel Talia? Pfft, I'd have taken Serhat Temel.
  2. It is possible he is actually injured. Presumably he won't line up for Casey where Blease, Davey and Tynan will be. As for the selections - I'm happy with that. Bennell should get a crack at the role Blease and Davey failed to deliver on. Sellar has a role to play on Lynch, and Petterd is automatic best 22 at this stage. Dunn in by default - not much point in selecting another super-slow mid in Couch for Patterson. Tynan not ready.
  3. Black tape, rather than scissors apparently.
  4. I've never been ashamed of this club. Sometimes I'm embarrassed by it, in the same way we are sometimes embarrassed by our parents or siblings, but never ashamed. And today I'm neither of those things, I'm proud of the way it stood up to its principles and acted with complete integrity.
  5. I forgot there was a match on this weekend.
  6. The game is what you make it. If you really wanted, you could quite easily stop reading the forums, stop watching Fox on weekdays and stop reading the rags, and just turn up on game day. Then footy just becomes about the footy again. You get caught up in the politics because you choose to.
  7. I think appointing a coach is a little different to cutting loose a major source of revenue, especially when there (presumably) isn't another lined up. This is a business decision that requires a great deal of care, because it may impact the viability of the club. In reading my own posts and yours again, I think our positions are very close.
  8. Will it, though? I'd be surprised and a little bit worried if the decision on how to handle this was driven by the membership who don't and can't understand the intricacies. I think it's clear - either we can afford to cut the sponsorship so we will, or we can't afford to cut it so we won't. I don't see how any "I'm leaving raaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh" calls to the poor old person working on the switchboard is going to change that.
  9. But that cuts both ways - what's the cost of losing the $2m/year? I fully agree that in principle the club should be backing away as fast as possible, but that must be decided by someone capable of weighing the options up properly - even if it means putting some members off side. It might be a necessary evil to keep the club viable - how could we as mug supporters possibly know? All you've done is threaten the club, and wasted 30 seconds of someone who had to listen to your message. I can't see that as being particularly helpful. Like I said, your $1k is the least of their problems right now.
  10. Good strategy - bully the club when it's clearly in all manner of poo through no (or little) fault of its own. Cut the self-important bullshit - your $1000 means piss all in the context of a $2m sponsorship anyway.
  11. Down by 10 goals at quarter time, then losing by "only" about 100. With all the crap that has gone on this week, the club will barely have even remembered that there's a game on this weekend and we'll start the match completely asleep.
  12. Who here thinks Neeld counted how many players he was happy with on his fingers before the press conference? I wouldn't take his words so literally - he was just making the point that most of our players played below expectation. I think Magner is the only one who played well enough for four quarters.
  13. This doesn't need its own thread.
  14. Gah, sorry for all the errors in that post. Trying to write on my phone and can't see what the predictive text is putting it half the time.
  15. McQueen - what have I denied? The second half of vat match name of sick. It was a terrible performance, no doubt. By the end of the third I genuinely asked myself why I was putting myself throug this for yet another year. I reckon my family have had a gut full of my bad moods. Then I read some of the reactions on here and suddenly the irrationality of others made me aware of how silly I was being. You can wallow, point fingers and feel sorry for yourself if you like. I choose not to.
  16. Opening up this topic, I felt absolutely gutted. Strangely, I feel better now that I've read it. Some of the over the top, chest beating nonsense on this forum is always good for a giggle. Thanks guys.
  17. The Robbo Show is obviously produced on a budget - if not $0 - then very damn close to it. You're comparing cheap, light entertainment to a full scale TV show.
  18. Robbo's personality has always rubbed me up the wrong way a bit I've got to admit, but he's certainly confident and competent in front of the camera. Would love to see him work closely with Burgan to become the charismatic front man for some high quality content. Loved Gawn's segment.
  19. I've never heard that before, and don't think it sounds right. It would serve no purpose at all - it'd be no different to making an interchange 1 second in to the game. I know you get fined if you make a late change using a player not named on your emergency list, that might be what you're thinking of?
  20. Ricky P isn't that important to the team - and I say that as a Ricky P fan.
  21. I doubt Neale Daniher got us to a prelim in 1998 and 2000 without the odd bloke winning the hard ball.
  22. Maric looked to me last night the same as he did for MFC - almost good enough. Richmond have a lot of garbage players playing senior footy. There seems to be a huge gulf between their best and worst players - they remind me a lot of Carlton circa 2008.
  23. Since when did Joel Macdonald become "McDonald"? Not meaning to pick on you specifically DD, but I've counted at least 5 people in this thread do this. I wouldn't mind so much (at least, I'd ignore it) but we do have a player named "McDonald" on our list too (Tom), so it can be confusing. Not to mention the fact that I think it's respectful and really not that hard to get our players names right - we all know how much we hate it when commentators call our co-captain "Trengrove" - this is no different! Everyone repeat after me: Joel Macdonald (Mac, lower case 'd') Tom McDonald (Mc, upper case 'D')
  24. Macdonald ahead of Sellar surprises me a bit. Tynan ahead of Dunn is a pleasant surprise. All in all I'm happy with that and can't bloody wait for the season to start now.
  25. I didn't think he was that bad.
