Watch the second goal in the vid HH linked. It's more than just a "Joe the Goose" - he started on the HBF behind Lumumba and worked in to be an option in every step of the play. Agree that he's got a way to go and like his best mate Billy, has a truckload of physical development to do before he's true AFL threat. I'm bullish though, he has the tank, ethic and desire to make it. I think he will.

Was a bit torn on the result last night. 1) I thought the idea of both WA sides sinking in the prelims was delightful and 2) North making the granny from 8th is a great effort. However, on the flipside, 1) North have no hope against Hawthorn where as West Coast might, and 2) Brad Scott. I think I'm happy enough with the result. Shame about the umpiring though. Barracking for West Coast next week, reluctantly.

I don't care about his attitude, I only care about the fact that he's looked well below standard any time I've seen him.

2015 Player Review - # 24 Jay Kennedy-Harris
Nasher replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I accept I'm probably just being mislead by a poor season, but I don't think he has any elite attributes. I don't think he's quick, tenacious or clever enough to be a high impact forward and his engine will prevent him being a mid. Has time on his side to work on his weaknesses, but I'm not confident. -
This logic is just saying "NQR A wasn't delisted, therefore we did wrong by delisting NQR B". No - the wrong thing has been not to delist NQR A. Both players should be delisted. For the record, thiere is still plenty of time for NRQ A to be delisted anyway and I expect he will, so it's a moot point.

? If you reckon the coach whips out a spreadsheet with everyone's salary on it before picking the side, I reckon your reasoning is silly. His job is to pick the best side and leave the administrative crap like salaries to others. Unless you're suggesting Josh Mahoney picks the side - which is also pretty silly.
-
Doubt the coach gives a fat rat's clacker what the players' salaried are when he's picking the side, song.
-
I agree that he ought to be kept. Just offering a simple explanation to the question so many people seem to be scratching their heads over (why Dawes seems to get picked first).
-
Er...?
-
Honestly, why? If you're finished with the conversation, you are quite welcome to stop reading it.
-
Both your questions could probably be answered with the same answer: the people in charge don't share your view on this player.
-
Yep. I made the decision a while ago to disengage on this topic because of that.
-
Pretty disappointing, I thought. Like Michie, is finely balancing on the "almost good enough" line that Riley fell just on the wrong side of. Doesn't look to have the running ability necessary to make it. Loves a goal, though. Has another year to change our minds.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Nasher replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Thanks for the goss GD. Wonder if I'm the only one who skipped all the Wines stuff and got straight to the Hartlett bit If we land Hartlett I will be stoked. -
Yep. As for the injury history that others have raised, he's played 66 of a possible 71 games in the last three seasons including 22 of 22 this year. Not a factor.
-
Will not find himself on the fringes, even if he has a slow start to 2016.
-
It's completely pointless, stuie.
-
You reckon? I'd sign the deal before Port came to their senses. I'll never understand why people would prefer draft picks over proven players. It's like choosing between $100,000 in cash or a Tattslotto ticket for me. Hartlett is a very good player, of a perfect age. I just can't believe there's any way he will be shaken from the tree, but if we manage it it would be an even bigger KOTD than getting Vince for the Sylvia compo.
-
This can't be true, surely.
-
Genuinely sorry to see him go. He'd only been around two years but he feels to me to be ours, and I thought he had something to offer for another season at least. Not to be. All the best Crossy.

Very early days, but injuries are a bit of a worry.

It's worth pointing out that he was the youngest player on our list this year and indeed one of the youngest in the AFL. Is ahead of where I though he'd be. Really pleasing start. I reckon it's hard to see him not being a good player; he is already fit, skillful and mentally committed to playing a physical game when needed. I also thought he was pretty well managed. He probably wouldn't have played as much as he did if we were a better side, but wasn't required to carry a disproportionate amount of work for his experience, and didn't end up part of the revolving door squad when he did go through some quiet form. Definitely a positive for the year.
-
I reckon you're way over-analysing it CHF. Without meaning to pan a bloke whose career has just been cut off, I'd say Fitzy has been delisted for more "traditional" reasons, and I've been surprised for quite some time about the amount of love he gets from MFC fans.

Neither of these teams have a hope of beating West Coast next week. Zero doubt in my mind that the Eagles will play a grand final now. I'm enjoying the game though. North's pressure that quarter was good, should be heaps further in front though.

Or they thought he offered more as part of a trade. That doesn't mean they thought he had little to offer us.
