  1. The bit about them getting Menzel due to their swift dealings with Dangerfield is exactly the same point I made in one of the other threads. If we'd pissfarted around forever on the Melksham deal or the Howe/Toumpas deals, it's highly unlikely we'd have had time to get the GWS and GC deals done that made the whole lot a winner. I doubt the MFC have sent Mahoney and Viney to Harvard (rich vs poor clubs anyone?), and we weren't involved in any high profile trades like the Dangerfield one, but that article could just as easily describe the MFC's dealings in the last few seasons. I agree with you that it really feels like we're in good hands - they're also starting to put the runs on the board to prove it.
  2. The list if DFA's this year are all less valuable than Cross could have been. Given that we showed him the door I'd be very surprised if we went down this path. None for me this year thanks.
  3. The other "crazy sheila" (that makes you sound like a yob, by the way) may be Sloonie? She posts as Jesse Christ now.I met Tilly in Launceston a few years ago along with a couple of other die hards. The man sure gets around. Agree, cracking fella. Don't know if you remember lukey26 off 'ology? We met years ago when she moved to Tassie for uni and have been in touch ever since. She was there in Launnie too. Only other Demonlanders I've met in person are Jaded, Fifty5, Baghdad Bob and a fella who doesn't post much called monty kaufman who is a work colleague. Shows what an anti-social bastard I am when I've been active in the online community so long and have hardly met anyone personally. I'm one of your nerds I think.
  4. Classic. Now you recently joined D'landers know why the oldies all groaned when we saw that future flag side pop up recently. 4 players left at best. Gosh, what a train wreck.
  5. I'd be happy with that outcome. Hanging on by a thread, no doubt, but does get one last shot. If he's good enough he can force his way back in ala Jetta. Good luck.
  6. Not a bad lark really - if he fails at Cricket again this year he throws in the towel and walks in to an AFL club. Not an opportunity too many are presented with I wouldn't think.
  7. I reckon you'd scare the kids BBO.
  8. Won't say no to playing Norf at Bellerive though. My kids may just attend their first AFL match.
  9. This is the post we should have bumped the thread with. LOL. Double LOL at the other guy getting all sooky about his embarrassing error.
  10. Are we totally sure hogans_heroes/Petraccattack isn't Yze Magic?
  11. With Hunt and Harmes both signing, I can't see a case for keeping Terlich now, for the reasons rpfc outlined. Making a mistake in the past (2 years for Terlich) is not a reason to make another mistake (keeping a player we see no future in on the list). Michie is the better player - that's the only thing that matters IMO.
  12. The club committed to promoting vdB permanently during the year. Signed a contract and all.
  13. Wholeheartedly disagree. Haven't heard his programme but some of his written work is hilarious. Definitely one of the sharper wits in footy.
  14. My experience is that these 'eureka' moments with manipulating regulated systems happen as a consequence of people brainstorming and working through the scenarios together. Happy to give Mahoney the credit as the boss (as everyone was happy to pan him as the boss until this happened), but I expect it was a team effort (as you alluded to).
  15. Gee. How unpredictable that this turned in to a pointless abuse thread.
  16. Better get Spencer signed up quick.
  17. I just read this thread (commencing 2013) from start to finish. Summary: - Promising junior - ball accumulator at that level - Had a strong 2014 - "certainty" to make it - Had a pretty poor 2015 and suffered some injuries, and was apparently told earlier in the year to improve his tank or the MFC wouldn't look at him - Form picked up late in the season. I have no idea what to make of any of it. Gut feel is that I doubt we'll take him.
  18. I'm not winding you up mate. He was quoted on the MFC website during the year thay that is how he spells it. Believe me, I'm anal about spelling people's names right and wouldn't spell it like that unless I was sure.Ed: http://m.melbournefc.com.au/news/2015-01-16/day-4-hot-dees-train-hard-on-camp
  19. Thanks for doing all the legwork rpfc. Like many (I suspect) I wanted to understand how this worked, but couldn't be bothered figuring it out myself.
  20. vandenBerg.
  21. Depth list, categorised. We'd have to see 7 injuries to mids/flankers before we see the revolving door squad from last year kick in (Riley, Bail and the Toump were also in this class last year), and 9 before we saw Jones and Terlich in the side, in theory. Smalls - developing/ready/near ready Trengove Kennedy-Harris Neal-Bullen White Bugg Kennedy KPD: Frost O.McDonald KPF: Pedersen Rucks: Spencer King Supergreen: Hunt The revolving door squad: Grimes Michie Newton If we must: M.Jones Terlich I've ignored Joel Smith since a) I didn't know he existed before today and b) I have no idea if he can play or what type of player he might be. Hopefully with those physical traits he turns out to be a KPF, since we're pretty light on in that regard.
  22. Mine: B: Garland, Dunn,Jetta HB: Melksham, McDonald, Salem C: Vince, Tyson, Brayshaw HF: Kent, Dawes, Petracca F: vandenBerg, Hogan, Garlett Foll: Gawn, Jones, Viney Int: Lumumba, Stretch, Watts, Harmes Notes: - Don't know enough about Bugg or Kennedy to know if they'll be pushing best 22 or not by round 1. For the sake of simplicity I've assumed they won't. - I'm not confident on a Trengove miracle. - I think anyone who reckons Roos and Goodwin will pick Pedersen over Dawes is kidding themselves. - White, Frost, ANB are the players not already mentioned as most likely to improve to regular best 22. - I expect the end of season best 22 will look quite different. - I've probably overrated Harmes, but I liked what I saw in the back half of the season. Given that he hasn't even been signed yet I expect I probably have. - Last four spots in particular very much up for grabs. Think the coaches still like Watts and Lumumba even if the fans don't so I've picked them; end of season may be a different story if others come on.
  23. I know you're only human ProDee, but forgetting Brayshaw is near-unforgivable.
  24. If we're talking Kieran and Andy, I think the verdict was that if they're related at all, it is very distantly. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/38478-the-kieran-lovell-thread/
  25. Yep. I suppose it's still as I said earlier: if we're not going to play him, give him the flick. Might not play pick 80/PSD6 either, but that also could be another vandenBerg.
