  1. I agree. My passion for the sport us getting less and less the older I get. At least the afl are consistent. One set of rules for stars, another set for everyone else.
  2. All great points, and as @von rightly pointed out this is a discussion to try and understand reasons why, so i accept those reasons. And i agree that we played well on the weekend and have been playing at a high standard for a few weeks now, our best is still hard to beat. The standard of footy has been very high, it is great finals preparation. Teams have lifted to play us. But that is why i have gone early on my calls. The trends indicate we are world beaters when the game is played on our terms but we have been unable to do it consistently in big games all year. What really concerns me though is how easily teams are scoring against us and our inability to score when the game isn't on our terms. The ability for the Pies to score on the weekend was a huge worry. On the couch also just put up a stat - (i know how we love stats), but we are 18th from scoring from turnovers this year and were 5th last year. There are a couple key indicators trending the wrong way this year. I just don't see our best as being good enough this year. Does you're rational explain it? I don't know, but what i do know is there are some big areas to fix and it is very late in the year to fix it.
  3. Haha good question, i did not think my name through when i changed it and didn't realise it was locked for 365 days. So unless @Demonland gives me some sort of pass i am stuck with it unfortunately. Me and my stupid sense of humor.
  4. Fair points. Taken on board. I guess I was still upset from Friday and this was my way of dealing with it.
  5. You might be right. I don't pretend to know. One way or another in roughly 2 months one of us will be right. Like I said earlier in this thread one of us will be right and probably for the wrong reasons.
  6. No doubt, you want to take the glass half full approach and you're correct. We could have won, but we didn't. We have been in games but their influence on games has. What has been consistent is that In big games this season we have been shut out when it matters. Do I think we can't win... No I don't, I guess I'm preparing myself for what I see as the inevitable.
  7. You do realise we lost? And we've lost consistently the same way all year. This thread assumes it will magically change when it matters. I disagree, I think the writing is on the wall. I assume (hope) you've got something more to add than just possessions. Because for the final 6 mins of the game when it was there to be won Collingwood controlled the game. We've consistently faded in effectiveness in 2nd halted in big games. Scoring efficiency and finishing have been a high problem all year. The good teams are way way more efficient than us this year and I'm big games it shows. Possessions is a useless stat and loading is a load of crap. You do realise we won all the key measurements and lost. It's pointless
  8. I understand your point. It's not my stat, but it's as real as believing we were top 4 in all key stats last year. I'm sure you can pick and choose to prove any point. From my point if view it's visual though you can see they can't stop sides when they're on a run. You can see petracca, Viney, Oliver fade out of games. At the end of the day you can argue whatever you want, it doesn't really matter. It's what happens on the day.thay matters, and to date we have filled miserably in second halves in big games. In 8 weeks time, one of us will end up being right and probably for the wrong reasons.
  9. Tomato. But in all seriousness re watch the coverage. It was either last week or this week they mentioned it.
  10. Also we were 1st for pressure acts last year. We are now 17th. Let that sink in. There is no magic switch, we just aren't that good.
  11. Possibly but you need to factor in we aren't in the top 10 for the stats we were last year and before Friday night were 17th for pressure acts. We were first last year. Let that sink in. We are not the amazing side we think we are and big games continue to prove that. I know I'm jumping early but I reckon I've seen enough now.
  12. Agree, but we've been consistent in not converting and keeping teams in it all year. Fact is to date (for 2022 season) we haven't been good enough to win the big games. It doesn't automatically mean we won't in the future, but writing has been on the wall all year, that we are not the side we were last year and teams with good offense are winning the big games. Not sure we can go to that level.
  13. Yeh i agree. I think i am just preparing myself for the inevitable. Happy to be run out of town if im wrong, but my gut feeling is we won't win this year.
  14. The only reason we stopped Freo was because it was raining. Freo were able to stop and beat up the Dogs, we couldn't. We couldn't stop teh Pies, Cats, Swans, Dogs and have been overrun by Freo including being dominated in 2nd halfs. Facts are we were the nest team in teh 2nd half, now we are not. It is not world ending, but I can't see us being there on teh last day, defense won't win flags in 2022.
  15. C'mon mate, i didn't start the name calling, i just didn't back down.
  16. Only one team wins it overall? Oh my. In all seriousness, Freo knocking off the dogs says it all really doesn't it. We are not good enough
  17. I did not fire the first shot your honor. It was self defense
  18. We might not like shootouts, but we keep getting in to them. AFL loves offensive teams, doesn't look great for us.
  19. I agree with your points chief, but there is a difference between attacking the man and debating a thought. Not that difficult to work out.
  20. So your idea of sharing your opinion is being a [censored]. Good for you
  21. I guess you were trying to prove that you're more dopey. I apologise. Just a tip there hot shot, there is a difference between discussion and being a jerk. I'll let u work it out chief
  22. I agree. I am not saying we can't win. Form says we won't. Also we probably won't have to wait that long. Happy for this to be dug up. But i am super confident I won't be the one eating humble pie.
  23. Might be a dopey thread to you, but it will be a fact come 8 weeks time. Then who will look dopey then? Tough guy calling out people for having an opinion?
  24. The basic reason is because we want to slow the ball down and create stoppages. If we don't score but slow the ball down it is a win. Teams are only scoring on us from transition/turnovers or stoppages. The ball is safe in our F50 unless we allow quick transition, which the pies were able to do in the 2nd half at will at times.
