  1. Omac will smash Charlie. Ed probably out here, helps plenty.
  2. I never thought I'd say this about Cats or Hawkins... But I feel bad for both.
  3. A lay down misere, and they managed to stuff it up again.
  4. I love the comparison to Parish right now. How many years did we get them wrong...
  5. Meh. I dunno whether I care all that much about the statistical variation. Heart says that this is one of those times where a statistical oddity is just that and nothing more. There's about 100 more important things going on than that. On another note, since Roos took over I remember him talking about how rebuilding a list comes with small things like winning quarters. I'd love to see the quarters won stats for his tenure + Goody's tenure. Our "bad" games under Roos, we'd be lucky to win a quarter... then we got to the point that we'd be the best side for one and a half quarters, which resulted in some gallant losses. Last year we were right on the 1:1 ratio of good and bad quarters. I feel like now we really are playing 3 good quarters in total, with about 20-30 minutes of horrible footy when our A-grade starters are resting up an end or on the bench. I'm very much using stats to back up an overall point in a loose way... but tbh I think our big name guys are still some of the best in the league. It's our worst 6 in the 22 each week who go missing. Harmes, ANB... you know the ones... Hunt I would have had closer to the best 6 than the worst before round 1 this year, but he's been a shadow of himself this year. Likewise OMac was everyone's favourite whipping boy, right now he'd be comfortably in our B and F top 10.
  6. How's that last quarters stat. 5-2-0.... but have been outscored by 30 points overall.
  7. My god. Still people on here saying it was soft. He pushed him high up enough for the leverage to push him back. He didn't stage, he got caught by surprise. Simple as that.
  8. Totally sensible action taken. It wont stop the great football unwashed from calling Jesse a stager though. A bit like Oliver last year who did get hit in the chin. I'm noticing a general seething hatred aimed at the demons in the media and public this year. Not as much as the Pies and Tigers get of course, but still. People seem to be very happy to pot us while talking up clubs who we've smashed.
  9. Yeah I tend to agree. Still think there's a lot of work to do though. Everyone talks about the comp being ridiculously even... But we have smashed some sides that looked appalling this year. Then got run ragged by some top sides. I still feel we're a ways off. That 4 quarter effort you talk about, that's all well and good, but it needs to become something you see more games than not. And so far this year, it's been rare.
  10. How many times over the last ten years did demons "run teams back into form?" I know it wasn't a massively classy or tough game... but I'm still celebrating heartily. We beat them a couple of times last year, but we haven't been "used to" beating the Saints, particularly at Etihad, in a long time. They're awful. Putrid in fact. Even with the draft gifts they've gotten. We're a 5-10 goal better side. I know we have a long way to go. But I'm already celebrating this being the new normal. Go demons.
  11. Joeboy: Best work yet.
  12. He'd be a good get. But it would mean we've gone away from the contested ball identity we've been on about under Goody. Many think we need X amount of inside players and Y amount of outside. Under the current list management structure, they've gone for ALL contested beasts. Even the FF is expected to drift in the middle and clear the ball. So it wouldn't surprise me to see us overlook him, or just not offer as much as, say, the Saints who would offer a first rounder and more for him.
  13. This is gonna be a weird fixture every year.
  14. 6 unanswered.
  15. Clearly a troll.
  16. It's mind boggling that the coaches haven't clicked that that's a losing game plan. Blind freddie can see it.

Ha. Yeah good luck with that boys. Same with the Rabbitoh the Eagles recruited who's never played a snap in his life. Has to face Cox, Bennett, Graham... Happy with the only handful of picks. Some guys who were hurt but have massive upside. A corner to take over from Robinson who's short but great. I like it. Made plenty out of not much draft capital. Filled all our needs. On a side note I was hoping we'd take Guice.

The time dragged out is because draft day trades come thick and fast. They get phone calls from potentially 31 clubs. And if one of them is one they can't refuse they take it. Tends to happen more after the first 6 picks, but they happen consistently. It'll be the same in the AFL from as early as this year, potentially.
  20. Yeah. What can I say. Not sure why he was selected at that time... Maybe Goody knows that he's the future and needs to immerse himself in the high-pressure environment of Anzac Eve? Maybe he has a "Grand Plan" of having Weed and Hoges as twin towers, with Tmac as the swingman, and Omac and Lever as the stalwarts in defence? Maybe he knew this game was just "development?" I dunno. I tend to agree. I never thought we'd win. And there isn't a name in there that I'm not excited about. Hogan, Tmac and Lever are made men. Weed didn't disgrace himself, Omac has been superb this year... Lever, particularly, looked like the real thing tonight on many occasions. I'm [censored] we lost. I don't think Weed was the right play. But I'll sleep ok tonight. Unlike Goody.
  21. Yeah. It's a slow, slow burn isn't it. After seeing guys like Tom Lynch take as long as they have, I'm willing to stick it out a bit longer. This weekend though, against what was a pretty darn good KP defence from last year, he's really picked the wrong time to wander back into the 22. Gotta give him a couple of weeks though. Otherwise, you just won't know.
  22. Here's another reminder of a KP player who DID make a difference that day. Don't go acting like you remember he played when clearly you don't. Who was our major goalkicker that day? Be thankful.
  23. Jeezus. You are the worst thing that's happened to this site in the last 2 years. I don't have to be a mind reader to know that. Are you drunk? How is anyone on this site gonna forget that win? As far as my memory goes with Sam he kicked 2 in his first game, and had about 5 tackles in the Crows game, one particularly memorable one up on the wing that led to a free, or possibly an easy possession for another demon (Hunt maybe?) that endeared him to fans on here. I remember in every other game so far in his career he's been almost unnoticeable. And in the two above, he barely made in impact. I am completely aware he played in it. What I don't have to do is explain all 22 who played in one win that came almost a year ago. ESPECIALLY players who made no impact on that contest. Or any contest he's played in for the seniors since. You want me to spout a whole lot of other irrelevant crap about Hunt headbutting Jacobs' shoulder and knocking himself out to prove I remember the game well? I don't have to explain to you who I remember playing in what game. You are as wrong as you are condescending. Do me a favour. Don't quote me again. Ever. PS, just took a look. Turns out even my guess on his tackle count was correct.
  24. The game he had five tackles and everyone tried to act like he contributed? You can't read minds. PS. I'll say it again. Pedo gives us the better chance for the win. I'm not asking you to agree.
  25. Yes. I'm looking at this week. For these 4 premiership points, I reckon Pedo is the safer play. Just personal opinion.
