  1. He wore the #2 ..but willl always be my number One Demon Well hopefully this number 2 and the other 2 ( 1+1 ) can guide us from above. Two decent blokes taken way before their time. Sad, and unfair
  2. Couldnt agree more. Will always remember watching Dippa and I think it was Lethal line up Robbie in that game. You could see it like a train wreck and Robbie didnt flinch. Was a dog act. I suppose a peculiar mark of respect it too k them two to take out one. Sometimes its only when yo look back you see things in a clearer focus and realise much of what is lauded and celebrated is really shallow , hollow and trivial. Melbourne was lucky to have Flower as a player and the game was richer for his being a part of it.
  3. Was thinking the same. There is injustice in many places and ways and this encapsulates it in respect to our great game. Such a sad way to be able to highlight the distinction of two types of men. I know who I would want to emulate and have others do so. As always , it more about substance ( npi ) than veneer.
  4. I just put this up on my fb page I invite others to do similar and maybe we can see Red and Blue in honour of the great man Robert Flower: "Yesterday we lost a great champion of the game , a legend of the MFC and a inspiration to many a budding footballer. As a mark of respect today I will wear some red and blue. I invite you all, of any club's following to join as tribute to a man who played the game with honour for his club, respect for his team mates and those of his opposition. At a time when supposed champions make a mockery of their privilege Robbie Flower showed humility and great courage. He never put himself above the game he loved , nor the Club he championed but in doing so stood taller than all of it. A good man passed, may many of his kind follow."
  5. good idea...so will I. maybe such an idea could be spread. A sea of Red and Blue as a mark of respect for this great bloke .
  6. Nasher, you truly would have been in raptures and high spirits watching this champ play. Even when we were rubbish he NEVER lowered the colours. I find it unbelievable that he never won a Brownlow for there would have been few ever that were FAIRER as well as a champion. He really was without peer in his day. He sort of always played above his weight. Was just a joy to watch. Its not often Im truly sad at the passing of someone I didnt really know ( met a couple of times ) , but I am today. As testament to his standing I wont be at all surprised by those that remark on his passing. A sad time for we Demons, a sad loss for his family.
  7. I have no idea what that means....lol
  8. I only just mentioned to my wife. There were many years when as a Melbourne supporter you didnt have a lot to cheer about but you could go watch a champion play football and marvel and be proud that he was a Demon as Im sure he was..
  9. Not many in this game are revered by all. His brilliance on the field was acknowledged by all. Many an other champion if asked who was the hardest to play on or against would reply ..Robbie Flower. Atruly great player, a legend of this club and even more, a bloody decent bloke who always had time to stop. RIP mate.
  10. Jaded...once they leave us I dont give a flying f... what becomes of them. They are no longer Melbourne until they are again. Money..success. They can can go. I just want value for them doing so and then to welcome someone new on board. They're all widgets inthe big picture.
  11. Its the debacle that keeps giving and giving and giving )
  12. Pretty straightforward really isn't it.
  13. Its got to be incredibly draining on all. Mentally, physically, spiritually as well as financially. Its like decency just won the quaddy !!!
  14. I think all the way through til we found out otherwise the club was very much behind Mitch. I think though that we were just doing the right thing for a long whiles without really thinking he would , well, do what he has. I think the club thought, if he recovers he'l want to rejoin. Got that wrong obviously. Seems the Club thought one thing , the player another I can only deduce the club was well and truly blindsided, a nd quite late in the piece at which point the club changed its position.
  15. lets hope..Hawks not overly reknown for this
  16. what makes you think we did ? just curious
  17. ah..two Esses...cheers something else i got errant today !!
  18. Fascinating to spectate. All things aside caro doenst often get this stuff wrong.. Opinions are one thing...inside tips..hmmm
  19. dont think so Think Roos etc will ask the question....no bullshlt answers tolerated.
  20. How long before the whole place just goes up in a puff of smoke !! How could he continue amongst such open hostility. How could Hird garner respect of the players. the whole thing is bizarre . They're now chasing tails. Thats borderline insanity surely !! Fun to watch though
