those who feel we can ....'salvage' the season...please qualify.:-) ..am not being nasty or such..just want to establish as to what level of accomplishment it is we attain to satisfy ..'job done" we were mainly of the opinion going into this season that we ought ( indeed had to ) be top 4.. the maths is way way agaisnt this happening...so unles that can be got...no salvage is really on the horizon..is it ? So then what do we do aspire to ?? Is near to good enough...?? and if so,,,how near is ...NEAR or do we scrub all previous illusions and repaint the landscape with achievable outcomes. if that's the case...what indeed can we achieve ? short term - probably not a lot. or do we start to resculpt the team.. not rebuild.. as we do have most of the building blocks.. just possibly they arent where they need to be nor are some exeprienced enough . So many will think it very un-supporter like to suggest we cut ourlosses and start looking afresh at 2008...but may I sugest if we have no win on board by the end of round 5 then any other interpretation of what is REAL is highly just fantasy. By all means play out the game of 'salvage ' for a weel or two..hell even three....then start giving the kids...who are our future a go... we need to go forward...not back

it does beg the question. if Trav has an injury to his hand...and he must otherwise why the scan etc... and others have noticed his concerns on play day. then are we ( well MFC ) risking exasperating this by playing him. is this an act of a prudent list mamangement ? or does it smack of desperation ? or is he suddently "all better" ? For his own sake...id only want a reasoanbly fit TJ to play... no point making a bad situation worse.

well i'll try ...but i cant guarantee you will get it.. a comment describing some supposed act towards his dog, whilst outrageous is hardly likely to extract must of a response but simply bring to question the originators persuasions and mentality, it s nothingness because its inane. The act itself is vile...but would even to headland be considered fanciful and non direct. A blatant comment directed to him about his daughter is far far more likely to create an image of horror and disgust etc in DH's mind as this is something we do hear of in society. Youre trying to equalize two disparate acts in order to justify some argument. They are not apples and apples. but if you havent got it by now... you may never.

I am no moral crusader, they invariably have some other agenda , as you sugest. I dont for one minute consider that Sillywood actually commited any act wrt to the young lass, thats not actually the point. I believe a line was crossed, but we will simply have to disagree.

all but everyone would know Hedland is a nutter...not the question...nor point. And entirely probable that Selwood and others were told to wind him up if the chance presented...thats almost a given. But , if we are to take the reported comments as gospel, then after the initial comment and retort by Hedland.. Selwood ought to have stopped there... But he of his own volition chose to carry it forward into a, what can only be described as 'sick puppy' territory. No one for a moment would beleive he had committed the act.. but the nature of the offensiveness to a father of a young girl is beyond qualification. btw..you dont 'boink young girls...you RAPE them !!

Id be quite interested to know ...of those who dont think the comments made by Selwood are anyworse than other inane sledges, or think this is just part of the game etc... who has a young daughter ? ( or son ) I do.. I dont play footy any more.. and only play competitive sport at a very very amatuerish level. There is still much argy bargy...and the occasional and obligatory silly words said. Most would be like water off a ducks back.. would be laughed at. However..should someone be so stupid to suggest anything along the lines of Selwood they would soon be wishing that they hadn't. I have no idea how an indigeous person feels about being villified, and almost hypocritically i will open myself to criticism here and suggest its no worse than being called any other of a 100 names about ancestry or nationality as many of us were at school...and yes it hurt but we got through it. But i will put comments of a sexual nature about a minor in a very different category. I dare say the community as a whole would. no i disagree..as cleanout only goes to the idea of well that..a cleanout.. this has nothing to do with cleaning out the list per se...just what are viable avenues of enlisting players.

I would be very surprised if gazza ever took up th eposition at Deeland..( maybe elsewhere ).. he will be EXPECTED to win a flag...anything less and it will be a let down.. They are mighty intimidating circumstances to take on a club not in the best of shape. Left field may be quite ok.. Neil Craig certainly came from there. Maybe the club could take on one of the current assistants but at same time get on board someone with experience ..but retired from day to day footy...to act as some sort of part time mentor as well. Its done with players...why not a coach.?

keep in mind we aren't talkign about some sick aunt gladice in hospital on life support, these are a bunch of wel paid professionals ( supposedly ) who have the luxury of playing their beloved sport at the highest level for much reward. my thinking is.. by all means draft X number through the kiddy pool... but there has to be quite a few young blokes running around where there real capabilities are on show...not what "might be " They are already playing against men...which is often the argument about not advancing the draftees too quickly.. Not every player is going to be a star.. but we could certainly use a handful of young blokes who play an honest afternoons game with full respect for the jumper. I'd be very intereested..and seriously ( and resepectfully ) if you are reading CAC...does MFC look to these pools of potential talent with much effort , that is in comparison to all the attention paid to the kids ?
