  1. Nah. ETD seems capable of stringing words together. Never Stuie's strong point
  2. Hogan going frees up cap without doubt. We don't need him gone as I'm sure the club would gladly be chuffed were he to stay. I suspect this is no overnight occurrence and as such there are plans/options to use that money on others. The club will happily pursue what's required to have all its plans fulfilled. There's no real prize for having spare change at the end of the Circus.
  3. My god... who'd want to get off the Blues bus ???
  4. There's a truck load of Cold Pies and a pile of used dentures !! does that get much ??
  5. the wiggle room...so to speak for GC is that it is very likely that our trading with them will involve at least 2 players. This opens up the box as it were. We're now dealing with a"'package deal".. Melbourne offers X...we get Y. If it was/had been just about one player then GC has very little room to move ( in its own mind as far as delivering to the masses ). Fortunately this way it would appear both parties can come away smiling...Good for us Go Dees
  6. thats just marking the mark on the turf. Gamesmanship. Clubs often say one thing for their members and public to swallow... meanwhile the FD get busy in the real world. Translation...May is gone..we know it...cant just give him away.
  7. luck had nothing to do with it... not nearly so much as listening and observing
  8. personally Im happy enough to see we've arrived at discussing sensibly and civilly about a situation and how the various outcomes sit for Melbourne. Im really only concerned about Melbourne
  9. maybe because some were looking over there >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> and some <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Maybe some just dont believe a bloody word spoken by clubs or players... Id be one of those btw
  10. There's another possibility. And a perfectly understandable one. He never really got the chance to wholly immerse his inner self into the role. So much happening around him . Without doubt it's been hard. That's possibly the 'why' . The result is, for mine , he didn't seem as much into it as some others. I actually think a fresh start will do him well. Good luck to the lad. Go Dees
  11. Any fast food franchises changed hands lately ? ??
  12. I would think because we didn't attend the Dodoro school of "pizzing everyone off" that we are/should be well placed to deal with GC etc with whatever we exchange for Jesse.
  13. Someone else making him an offer he can't refuse ? Those Lygon st good guys would know how.
  14. We can only hope . Fingers crossed.
  15. So it's ok to talk about a Hogan trade. Welcome to the real world everyone. Took some of you long enough. Go Dees
  16. its been mooted , not without reason that if he were staying...two simple words would suffice: "I'm staying!!" crickets !!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Gday Deanox...Im not ignoring the rest of your post as it were.. ( as many good points in there ) . Imho there is no may in MAY. ( that sounds so odd..lol ) Maybe his name ought be Steven Will. I agree as will many that we lost many games for all the reason youve mentioned....plus ONE...an important one for mine. The back structure was deliberately flawed. Why deliberate ? Because we no longer had a key element that was to make it humm...Lever. Once he went down ( sadly after finally finding his groove ) they (club ) shuffled. We no longer had enough of the same cards to cover...so it was 'make do " for the rest of the season. With the inability to chop off a lot of incoming...( goes to your mids lacking sufficient defending ) our backline, especially Oscar and Hibberd were left exposed as undermanned. Pig tried hard...so too really did Oscar , but McDonald isnt quite there yet and he got monstered at times. Enter May. There will always be games where despite the best planning the ball gets to our defenders quicker than desired. Its their job as defenders to ...well...defend. To regain the ball and initiate the rebound. We just dont do that altogether well just at the moment. As many suggest May means we duck shove downwards the roles. We wont be fielding all of May, McD and Frost at the same time...something gives here. The May effect is an upgrade to what we have presently.
  18. Dont misunderstand me I quite like what Vanders brings to our game but even Im not sure he's necessarily best 22. The arguments for retention and hope via a full preseason are worthy but if he goes he'll be replaced. I think the club IS being accommodating whilst prudent. Happy for him to stay ...quite understand should he go. Either way HE isnt the difference between good team and great team.
  19. Im not sure why losing Hogan is bad . Or did you particularly refer to us being with an open window? Either way Id say an argument could be mounted ( actually refer BRFE post #2776 this thread ) to put a perspective on this. What I think happens is a big name leaves so it must be bad. Quite frankly I think Hogans value is about to be realised and I dont think it's necessarily bad. I dont believe Hogan for all of his stats is more influential on a game than Lever. With or without Hogan we've found a way to goal quite often.( some might argue its a better structure even.. ) Lever going down created a distinct problem that was never fully covered. Any which way I agree with point 1 2 ive discussed 3 somewhat moot I think in years to come we will indeed look back upon this EOS as being quite pivotal , but I suspect not for the reasons many imagine just now
  20. You just get the notion Vanders leaving is purely about pragmatism. I wish him well.. Their time in Footy is not always long.. Theres more to life than footy.
