  1. I spose he could have. I for one would not have minded; in exactly the same way Trapper has come to leave. A club is built upon not promised potential, but delivered effort. I have nothing persoanl agaisnt any particular player...nor for them. They are players, in a team gettingto do what they love and be hansomely rewarded. Occasionally the payer gets stung by the payee !! At the risk of cynicism again Adem seems to miraculously find yards when he can milk it !! Dont like it..fine !! On the Freight train called Melbourne there is no room for passengers!!
  2. in case it had escaped some...its all really moot....there already is a Melbourne United !!
  3. GIVEN !! ?? last I looked they get paid. If Adem put as much effort into actually 'giving' and contributing to the 'team' as opposed to showponying...then we all prrobably wouldnt be here discussing him in this light .
  4. The thread I thought was about the branding.. not the performance. Branding anding amrketing is about awareness and identity. The ability to stand aside from others in a similar field. Team performance and knock on effect on membership is whislt related a somewhat different aspect . Branding is about recognition. Marketing is the promotional awareness of that recognition.
  5. oh...just to validate the above http://www.melbourneunited.org.uk/ yep..its in the Uk..and thats the whole point.. and then there's www.melbourneunited.com.au/ yep... a wonderfully unique brand
  6. The whole point of branding is to crreat e a Unique identity, one that is wholy and undeniably 'that ' particular entity. To me the "united" idea is flawed. its a monicker well known throught the world as being associated not only to another club, but another code. stick the letters MU in front of most and intimate its to do with football and the overwhelming response will be Man United !! Youve already noted that..and its the whole argument agaisnt such a path. You need to be distinct, there are any number of Uniteds around and whilst I see where youre going with the play on words it means nothing to Aussie rules.. Nothing !! No...for me stick to Demons please we sing "Its a grand ol flag"....not 'you'll never walk alone' !!
  7. I suppose essentialy there are maybe two schools of thought here.. Some have the classy highly skilled champ having put many years into the club and deserving of all bouquest and no brickbats.. and then there's the other camp. Here, people dont question his undeniable talent, just wonder why its so sporadic. Also on this list are thoughts about real ticker,or are efforts only required when someone might be watching..and other acts when possibly people arent. Yze is a talent...but far from a champion. They're different.
  8. which are exactly ?? I dont think the clubs about to fall apart without him.. on the basis of what can you summise that...pure conjecture !! The club took the time and had a process to install the other positions and Im sure it will carry through to a new head of recruiting. But heres a newsflash..CAC, good as he's been wasnt perfect..and he's certainly not the only one in football land.. we'll survive..it'll be ok..lol Im sorry I just dont get your point on any of this.. It of course will be a new start of sorts as simply a new person will imput diferent things. But..and heres the big but... CAC has stamped his influence on the immediate already.. Theres a whole stack of kids yet to kid in anger.. His iinput for the comng drafts is already done and dusted.. .. and so whomever takes the mantle will not have to decide on anyone overnight. posible...we'll never know.. as you intimate...its moot So..... youre not allowed to accept a better paying position?? Its his job many forget he has family ties to Richmond.. is it just a smidge possible that he has some hankering to be involved with that club ?? In the end ..we all need to realise one man does not make a club. He has been part of a process. It can be accorded some success but also some legitimate questions can be raised after all we have no cups in the cupboard of late. Again..this in itself is not just one mans doing . The club is evolving. I distinctly have the feeling its moving forward CAC was part of it.. now he's not. His legacy will be with us for a few years to come still, by which time anothers influence will be visible and many will be wondering what on earth all the rhetoric was about. life goes on
  9. Whilst i can appreciate the frustration and possible angst ,after all following football is a passion it really isnt called for to denigrat eanyone. He ( CAC) served in his position professionally. It is after all a job !! He now has another..its as simple as that. In all professions and walks of life people move from A to B. Its life.. its also nothing to get terribly excited or upset over. He will be replaced in some fashion as all people are. Who knows , the next might be even better and would all those throwing grenades currently be so inpsired ? We ( mfc ) know who is in the PSD. Do you seriously suggest it was going to be a last minute decision ? of course not. Neither will the Rookie draft. People...take a deep breath..Its all ok.. and we move on!!
  10. Theres a difference between thanking someone and wishing them well...as i do ....and wishing them success and luck !!!hehehe
  11. which is more valuable...a left leg or a right leg ??
  12. ya know ya dead right... wouldnt want any Dragon players now would we >> no one like ...... might make a fair ruck...lol
  13. Must be a different Green then that backs himself into a pack for a mark!! Some of his disposal is a tad indescriminant, but thats not because he fears contact me thinks !!
  14. Moir was Ok.. never really a 'big hope' just a fairly good player who I reckon you could rely on for a fair crack. Results would vary on the day...but wasnt that the whole team then. Andy's peripheral wasnt his best ally..lol.. but having played with him and agaisnt him...id rather the former !! Remember him as a pretty good kick who could play a bit
  15. I dont see Freo as any threat ...they have some rebuildoing yet..and need to link games and create cohesion. Coolingwood I think may experience a dose of reality in 08. Some serious talent no longer on board..watch for them in 09 and 10. St Kilda ?? the mish mash Sainters may get it together.. lets see.. we can match them without too much stretch !! which Port ?? lol...I think they have peaked for moment and will fall away to top of bottom eight for a few years. West Coat are in for a BIG reality check now...never to be taken lightly.. not the team of a few years back either. Hawthorn...too one dimensional. Not concerned here. yes those teams will be in our way....but they wont stop us
  16. Am happy enough if Adem puts in enough to get games this year and truly contribute. I think he's kidding himself though if he really thinks his career is going to go much furhter than 2008. The thing is Adem , if he was so really concerned more for fitmess and accontabliltiy than any mention of records could easily have declared himslef unfit for any game and so ended the preposterous game he played in cahoots it seems with a co operative coach. But he didnt...so we can fairly assume his priorities are not as he would have us beleive. Actions are far louder than words !!. To be totally truyhful i have admired like many his amazing skills. I suppose this is what aggrieves many is so much ability..so litel delivery !! what irks me is he always strikes me as the kid who nicks another piece of cake when he thinks no one is looking !! Ive seen him lay on cowardly, yes COWARDLY tackles ..cheap shots to look good..and shirk some realt contests. Yes Adem..some people WERE watching !! enjoy the year..thanks for efforts...dont slam door on way out
  17. Indeed !!!.... just the timing of end of contract etc...just make me a tad cynical 'bout his playing !! if memory serves me right...he does seem to turn on a few years here and there.......oh yes.. just before negotiations !!
  18. Call me a cynical bastard but it read like a lot of spin tinged with a bit of 'worry". Would be marvellous if he started playing most of a game to his potential.. He's certainly left it late !!!
  19. a question to those that feel we may still only finish bottom 8... who do you think is going to keep us out ?
  20. Good recruiting is an essential part of the process for without it you simply dont get the good candidates for nurturing into good players. As said , its a part of the process. Its like growing stuff you have to know how to tend it, how and when to pick it and what to do with it afterwards. if you leave it around too long without attention the produce rots, goes to seed or loses freshness and quality. My oh my hasnt this been a problem at Melbourne in the past, leaving some things too long. But this doesnt detract or devalue the effort and effect of good recruiting. There are two separated elements to the whole show, but without the first you have no chance at the second !!
  21. all yo can really take away from this is that someone or some.. hav ebeen guilty of some very poor judgements and the resulting decisions were replorable. Hopefully things are different now they arent at Melb !! if you're crook/injured and as a result ineffectual in your role then why be there.. never makes sense to me. Its all very romantic etc to see someone "gut ' it out.. just seems bloody stupid to me. Does no one any favours !!
  22. lol... hadnt heard of this one.. .. I went to school with Andy...played on him in house footy etc.. never struck me as a bad player !! Cant imagine he's be very chuffed by hs infamy...lol. pretty funny though
  23. I think we have far more genuine reason to thinking we might do alright next year than for a long while. I dont think we are going to be near the predictable same ol same ol Dees of old !! I think a difference in attitude from the coaching if nothing else will put a lot more pressure on the "established " to fight for their places. I dont think Bails will play favourtes !! Good players coming back.. a year more under the belt for some of the kids..and some serious talent waiting in the wings !! That and such a landmark year for the club...I expect MFC to lift and prove more than competitive in 2008 im still thinking around 6th I dont expect us to be like a bull at the starting gate and then die, but reckon we will get better as the year goes on.
  24. essentially I agree.. But if you have a captain.. and a captainn in training...is slightly different. I just see this a s a win win way of handing over the mantle..essentially the heir apparent is the vice captain.. just all know he will step up the next year.
  25. Im not for co captains as a normal run of mill thing, but as a process of handing over, especially in these cicumstances I think it has some merit. I would imagine as part of a leadership strategy that various and particular players are charged with looking after their part of the ground, but not as captains.
