yes...god forbid youd remember that the whole point of the game is to out score your opponent s!! -
yep..Dunn's just this side of a Pension by all accounts !! Bail might just be an interesting inclusion..probably one of the best games ( match wise ) to bring him in on. hmm..food for thought there. The team will need to be quite differently structured this week compared to last. Good opportunity for some

probably more than some other weeks ,whilst the selection is obviously about the best 22 the doggies are a hard to to match up on. Aker finding form is either an absolute headache for us or a golden opportunity for a challenge. The dogs do have some loody good players who for what ever reason simply have een down for a month or so. How lovely of them to bounce back in time for us ..lol Cooney, Murphy, Gilee are trouble enough..but our fowards are going to have to be somewhat dynamic to not only be useful in their own right but to offer pressure to the likes of Giansiracusa and Cross. Quite proably PJ will get a chance to reprise against Minson and Hudson.. but think we need to reconsider the 2nd ruck option. Maybe Spencer gets a run also. Its a hard week to figure out I reckon..good luck Dean & Co

give him this year.. another preseason.. another 5-7 kg and we have a very good player..very good His strength , or lack of in some contests limits him a tad but this will change. He's not unerringly consistent week in week out yet but will be invaluale over the coming years. A lot of his so called errors are not really his..just a lack of cohesive options. They too will come

We come to the G this weekend for a rare treat.. A Sat arvo game at home. A little bit of a shame its against a resurgent Bulldog outfit but as they say you can only play who turns up with who you have. Thats brings us to this threads topic.. WHo will that be with forced outs likley in Rivers and Frawley Bailey and trusty team of selctors have their work cut out replacing two such valuable contributors. However encouraging and uplifting were the efforts of this weeks remaing 20 the team will need re-jigging. I would have thought likely contenders would include Cheney and McNamara. These games whilst unfortunate for those outed with injuries can and often provide that foot in teh door or catalytic opportunity to propel others forward in their careers. going to be an interesting game

I seem to remember we ( and some others ) discussed this at least a season ago and not everyone then quite got it. But its very much an area that needs to be perfected. Apparently a lot of this years preseason focused on entries into the 50. Thats all well and good and to be commended and in reality it would be foolhardy not to practice this area but how much is scored against us from the pressure and turn overs in our defensive 50. I dont mind if we dont perfect it this year but hopefully it will be next years preseason focus. So many attacks start from that 'other' goal.

we will win 4 judicious and careful injury management ( read List management ) will assure us of our due desserts

and just how many ppl could bring themselves to go to a Dees home game at Victoria Tip ?? Not a true supportere would ever set foot in that ceespit !!

The cold reality is that whilst Wheels is a good player when fit his placecard would have to be marked DNR.. Reality is save the fact that so many others went last year that he probably is dead lucky to be here at present. Hope the club allows him to go in a dignified manner. Times ups though and have been saying it for a while..its just a truth ...not a bash !!

now here is an elephant in the room. Unless both pick up their games ...for whatever reasons then oth are becoming less and less relevent to any likely shape of a team that will press for serious activity come a september Both CAN be good.. seldom are either really what everyone cracks either up to be. The difference in that McLean does consistently try harder but neither are influential. We cant afford non influential players..doesnt matter who they are -
OOH !!! we can have green numbers for the fastest player..... orange for anyone carrying an injury to make it easier for the opposition to line them up...pink for any show boat ponies... and maybe keep yellow for any player who habitually shirks .. Our numbers are white....leave them that way.. Its a team..they all wear same jumper..with SAME numbers ( colour ) <_<
-
what you say is essentially coorect however you are overlooking the all but "last petrol for..." scenario building at seasons end. Not only last time to fill up inthis manner but given the 'premium' qulaity of whats on offer for 1 and 2 it would be be as irresponsible to overlook this moment as it is to rely overly on the simplistic view that just ecause you have early picks you get a premiership. Its really about getting the est choices availale at any time and developing them. AT seasons end there are two guns on offer..i WANT THEM BOTH !!

the answer H007 is unfortuantely within his ( Jacksons ) comments in respect to "Forcing Melbourne and Nth into merger" He ..and some others arent about fair representation or such...just about the world falling into line with their grand vision
-
granted... but the problem for us is whomever are behind this latest barrage of DEE / ROO bashing will take susch a poll..bogus or otherwise and add it to his sling of dubious reasons as to why it ought to be put up for serious discussion. We know its rubbish..some may see it otherwise
-
You can bet certain clubs will want a team to fold or merge in preference to relocating to a certain southern Isle !!
-
There are definitely agendas out there to nobble a couple of teams arent there !! <_<

in all seriousness we are now only really trying to fumble our way through the year in regard of rucking. Spencer will get chances and expect him to really start showing some advances in the latter half of season. We will simply have to shark the opposition and apply pressure to counter the lack of ruck depth. I think PJ has disappointed many...myself included but he will at least provide a contest if not competition. I sense Bailey is looking to Meesen and Spencer as our future now with another to be recruited and developed. If we were dead lucky maybe another rucking reject/frustrated may appear in the nutty "silly " week come seasons end. Collingwood played quite successfully for many seasons without decent rucking ...we can do this to . Just need to rejig the plan a little.

what utter rubbish.. No club can agree to anything without member approval... <_<

The element that will colour the nature and style of players sought by GC will I think depend on the picture used to sell it ( the club ) as successful to budding memers and associated benefactors. If they, GC expect serious results inside of 5 years then they will have to spend up and BUY a core of a team. If this the case then some seriously good players will go from clubs. In that respect they are already seriously good players and not ones with 'promise' etc. No offence to Ricky but he's not in that category yet.. A few years in future possibly. I can see that you would want to have players of Petterd's ilk in development but even GC wont have ALL the money on earth. SO much will go to the top 3-4 bought souls that I feel we will be fairly safe and might fly under the radar some

Would have preferred a separate thread as this si slightly different slant , but it is in the mix of discussions regarding stadia. Without a doubt the whole fiasco of Stadia inadequacies and inequalities lays squarely at the feet of the AFL. More the point is the nature of the AFL and its misguided approach to its own purpose and importance. In a logical and sound creature the body wags the tail however with the beast that is the AFL the Tail well and truly whips the body !! Since the advent of the singular enity of the CEO at the AFL Commission there has been the opportunity for a single persons vision ( or lack of ) and more poignantly myopic bias to take a strangelhold on the development of the game and its particiapnts. There has never been any real argument against the continuing development of the game and environs ut the angst stems from whos template and ideal scenario is being employed. Any rational discussion and appreciation of the game will acknowlwdge that the games league could not continue in the form it was as it morphed from the VFL to AFL. As the game went national there was always going to be tears and heartache as new teams emerged and some others failed to progress into the future. As with any change there are good and bad methods and strategems that can be employed. We seem to be in the midst of a debacle brought about by poor choices and determinedly unfair deals. If we , for the moment put aside any need for the inclusion of some teams and folding of others and look to how particular teams have become hamstrung with respect to venues and returns we can see there is simply one rule for some and bugger the rest. A curious trend, feel has occurred in the last 20 or so years, signifacntly the same era of the AFL !! from 1990, Collingwood, Hawthorn , West Coast, Essendon ,West Coast , Carlton , North , Adelaide , Adelaide, North , Essendon , Brisbane , Brisbane, Brisbane , Port , Sydney . West Coast , Geelong and Hawthorn Possibly with the only real exception being North all the other teams benefit from having either their OWN ground and all the benefits associated with that or a very good deal wit that stadium and good revenue streams as a result. Going forward teams such as Geelong , West Coast , Adelaide, Brisbane , Sydney have certain incomes . Essendon has the best deal by all accounts with Docklands and Hawthorn are no bunnies with their deals either. Carlton until Princess closed for uisness were ok and must be salivating at the prospect of that ground being refurbished and in use. No one for a moment doubts the dealing proess of Collingwood either. Whilst better access to grounds and associated monies is no guarantee of success ( read Fremantle ) is does provide a basis and allows other developments to happen unhindered. The League ne Commission, continually bleats it requires a sound and as level a playing field as possible in order to provide a healthy competition and hence highest returns from commercial interests and yet its done is darndest over the years to scuttle teams, force mergers, deny funds treating some teams with disdain whilst fawning over others. Even now it foolhardly looks to spend countless funds by pouring them into the money pit called West Sydney. The same money could furbish a venue at least into a boutique state until its natural evotion and income could futher develop it. Its time that Nero like persons stop bleeding this game in order to feed their own egos and truly make themselves accountable and indeed work FOR the very teams that founded this great game. Time to re-establish the goal posts on an even playing field. Time to scrap the existing contracts by renegotiating better and fairer ones for all concerned.

in what sense..cant be greater numbers. The better the team then aqrguably the better the player selected but in terms of relative effect on each team youd think it much the same unless a sperstar defects.. I just cant see more than one marqee player being nabed if that. ANy half way decent team will be circling the wagons !!

Heraldsun AFL page with poll Yet another poll...yet another attempt to stir up this ol merger rubbish.. Thing is at the moment more people are saying we SHOULD !! lets correct that !!!
