  1. folks..remember ..contracted players CAN be traded. We may no.t be keeping all of our list as it looks today.
  2. Lets for a moment say that as seems likely end up with 1 and 2 this year. Then as a result of bottoming out totally and completely for two years wewil have recieved Likely picks for 1 & 2 are : Scully, Trengove....(+ last years ) Watts, Blease + Jurrah yeah..ya right.... not worth Spooning for all that lot is it !!
  3. ............and tanking doesnt happen !!
  4. only 6 clubs.. ye of little faith..lol.....with the current crop and some top ups let alone whatwe may or may not get over the journey of 4-5 years to add to the list we..the Mighty Demonswill be seriously in the mix for a Cup.. we mightnt win one but we wil play off for one. As we climb..others by the very nature wil fall. We are perfectly situated for a cohesive restructuring of our team.
  5. There is a neeed for game oportunities for the kids as they come up. If the older ones are simply there without adding to the equation then they become cloggers.
  6. I must confess I cant see whats the fuss over Panos. Seems fairly average to me. Another taller type who can look good in his age group. Its a diferent world in the big time. Same goes for Butcher but think Butcher easily has it over Panos. Still leaning towards two mids then the best avail at 18 with no caveat as to position. Half inclined to use 18 in trading myself
  7. think the trouble with Bubbledome is that we came to this in a different frame of mindunder differing circumstances when adressing the needs of the club. Back when all this began there was the hullaballoo about wonderful Team_Melbourne and and all the warm and fuzzines of shared facilities and even to a point resources. This has now changed markedly. There is no real alliance of anysorts worth worrying about. We arent sharing any admin facilites etc , we now have Casey and all it offers, we now have kissed and made up with the MCC and we have a different vision courtesy of our ilustrious leader and his trusted team. When it was first mooted I thought being part of Bubbledome wa a sound idea, now its some sort of marraige of inconvenience. It wont realy provide 100% of anything we need/want. The sooner we can have some more facilities at the G the better and we can jettison Bubbledome entirely. With the 15th RU team likely to want somewhere to play and train you would have to think BD's value is even further diminished. EOTD..it makes littel sense to have any AFL team asociated with a small rectangular stadium.... does it !!
  8. One thing I wil say going into this years draft/trade s thatfor a change I really have faith in what our lot are doing. predergast and his band of merry scouts and aids are pretty much on the money...well given a few lacklustres but you will always get one or two who dont quite come up to excpectations. The club seem to have an eye for hidden talent and those players avoiding radars etc. I intrpret the writings of media scribes etc that currently the club would favour Scully and Trengove...leaving the 18 and 34 picks as anyones guess. Im sure we ( MFc) have some in our sights. And then there are the out of left field surprises.....so who knows what our line up will be come the start of season 2010
  9. Fair comment. Many often fail to see things in perspective. Its all classically "one week at a time" stuff. well just as thats a crock of [censored] in response to where any team sees itself in a season so to is it in respect to how a club/coach/team goes about its business. The MFc wil have known when it on hired Bailey that there was much tending to the garden before any decent crops could be had. That takes fortitude and vision. Also requires a lot of help with other tasked personnel and most importantly requires the club to have nerve and backbone. It also needs the supporters to think beyond that week at a time rubbish and see what was th eclub then and see it as it is now and where its pointing. Yes Bailey/MFC conspired to ensure we got our just deserts and we ought give kudos where warranted as it was he, Bailey , who fronted the media under all its scrutiny week in week out and didnt flinch, didnt duck didnt abdicate his task. With the season end al but nigh and the juicy expectations on offer to top up our list then Bailey has earned the right to be allowed to actually develop his plan and unleash his squad properly. I think we'll see just that in '010 with measured betterments of results and the real development of a challenging side built upon the foundations put down this and last year. I will look to see what happens next year before really deciding ( for mine ) whther he is the right man for our next premiership. So far ..so good, even though not too many runs on board. Garry Lyon may one day have a hands on role at the club..or he might not..only time will tell.
  10. but thats the thing... the last round against the Sainters is unlikely to be pretty.. thats the game they might remember...not the freo one !! so what does it really matter ?
  11. was thinking pretty much the same... sure hes a nong for doing it in any capacity but its hardly earth shatttering or clandestine.
  12. I consider any such scenario implausible.. simple isnt it
  13. does it matter ?? just more experimentaion.. Its al lmoot now really. Bring on trade and drafting
  14. Im inclined to think we'll delist 6...possibly seven. makes way for 4 ( poss 5 , but doubtful given depth ) in draft... possibly a pickup in the PSD..and one or 2 rookies depending on PSD.
  15. yep...figured it out too..lol.. just a little late..lol
  16. If we lose to Freo what makes anyone think we are capable of beating carlton or sainters. This week is the only real last chance to taste victory this year.
  17. Awe ? probably right to be so.. This draft doesnt look nearly as strong this year past about the13-15 mark... happy to cede you think it goes further with quality ..I dont ..well not the same calibre. And thats my point..Is there better value in the prospective at 18 as compared some trade whilst still arguably getting another pick sub 30 ? maybe...maybe not..but I would think it warrants close scutiny.
  18. Dale Kerrigan has an answer for you
  19. Some seem to be wanting / hoping/ dreaming that a higher projected pick will slip through to 18. I just cant see this happenig this year. Theres not that type of depth as with previous years that will allow many teams tol go for a particular positional player after say 7-8. Teams will just be grabbing whatever is there at around this mark.(and so will we ) Whoever is there at 18 will be most likely that order of player. Its in this light you have to think that there is more value possibly with 18 as regards trading. The difference for us between say 18 and 30 may not be a lot but it might entice anothter club to package there pick with something ( someone )
  20. be another classic case of going home...all power to him should he be successful. Happy to have him onboard in the mean time
  21. I cant imagine why anyone will want to step up to coach the crippled basketcase from beyond Antartica that will become the WS18. Only an assistant who is eternally overlooked will feel it worth a shot
  22. A Bailey/Lyon combo in the manner of Malthouse/Buckley certainly has its romantic appeal. How probable or possible is another question. I think Lyon will coach at AFL level one day but it would depend on some aspects of compatability if he were to come in under Bails...and would Bails want that ??? would you ??
  23. If say the likes of Panos and Jetta were not around at 18.. what if anything are folks views on Mathew Smith of the Bendigo Pioneers ? an interesting type. ???
  24. I like this thinking. If hale was to come and Jared was part of this swap then we'd keep Martin down back Id suggest. Thats a pretty potent forward 50 there Old Would be an absolute handful to defend. Add in the smalls , feed them well out of the middle ...and voila !!
  25. Davey wont be going anywhere this century. He's Melbourne through and through and is taking like a duck to water in his mentoring roles. I sense he's quite happy. What really atm moment does Jared provide that others cant..?? He/s not playing anywhere near his best of a few years ago..arguably he may next year... so it comes down to another gamble.
