  1. New Coaching motto : Go ahead, make my day !!
  2. Im sure , well , have the idea that Watts wil lactually be fine with this.. Often youth need to have boundaries and expectations defined and actually they more often than not prefer it. Im of the opinion that much of the previous mob's inability to get the team to lift was as a direct result of too much namby pampy 'group hug' type stuff. He we see Neeld beug concise and direct in what is required , expected but at the same time he is also providig the facilities and personel to enable this to happen. Its a partnerrship. "we want you to do this and this is how we'll help you to achieve that goal" All win/win... all good . I think he'll take to this new ideology like a duck to water.
  3. Neelds Blank Canvas yet more insights !! marvellous stuff
  4. Hmm.. I wonder how the players all "feel " about this ?? then again...its time to stop feeling... and DO !!
  5. We are Billy...we;re in the AFL ...by default were playing with them....what we werent doing is playing like them.
  6. ELC © ... I like that. sort of like when Tom speaks he utters Subjects Having Inherrent Treachery
  7. Thomo...I appreciate these are only my thoughts by Im inclined to think that GWS did indeed target quite a few in the famed 22-26 bracket. These would have provided some form for the side .As it is they didnt land a one and now have a book with two ends and nothing to read of much value in between. Ive no problem understanding the bagging ... B)
  8. It's so much easier for some of us.... we never believed him. Im not really fussed at all by any poster on Demonland...they can deal with their selves as to what happened or didnt in their own stance on things. We know what we do for all to see now. Including what an absolute fool one TS is making of himself. Keep in mind much of this is for northern consumption, very few Mexicans would swallow this mierda !!!
  9. We're playing with the big boys now lads !!! time to act like it.
  10. Tom sounds so Kneedy!! os is that Sheedy ?? all much of a muchness...same sh!t !!
  11. This is all about the reinforcement of the idea that a dog wags the tail.. Neeld>>> Woof !!! The lads are being instructed as to where the bar now sits. Brave new World !!! lol Good to see. Am sure many will rise to the challenge. Those that dont wont be around for long.
  12. Demons are supposed to reside in Hell.......and now they do !!
  13. let alone his speech writer !!
  14. Australia crashes to lowest Test score in 109 years Lucky our bloke is M Clark not M Clarke !!!
  15. The selling of Blacktown 1, 2, 3 !! And so the revisionists spin spews forth. Its not Us...its Him !! My god is he really that gullible that he believes anyone wil lbuy this drivel ? Still it's sycophant heaven up there isnt it. Its really quite funny .
  16. or make or break a whole team
  17. 1965 round 6 Melbourne v ...who else...lol Collingwood we won...just as I recall. ( long time ago )
  18. its exactly this sort of thinking that has seen many an empire beaten by an adversary, they thought they were unbeatable. They were the status quo and would always be, History shows they were mugs !!
  19. Billy..the whole point of rasing the notion of how things actually ARE in NSW as opposed to how the Mexican press portray it is to suggest that anyone not assimilated by League and having at least a reasonable level of perspective will notice that whilst there is obviously a following of the game in qld and nsw ( nrl ) they dont sem half as passionate about barracking for it. What is extremely prevalent though is the junior game up there. This is big time. It strangely falls off a cliff once you get to senior level. Junior levels are attended en mass..every weekend hundreds of thousands of mums dads aunts uncles cousins line the sidelines and cheer. Come game day(s) for League and its the pub or the loungeroom telly. So what is this all about ? The culture of the two games is different. If the AFL can harness anything and translate it to bums on seats ( even if its giving away tix) then it will grown its brand over time. Theres a different sort of commitment here. Watching telly can be as fickle as a button on a remote control.. Thats the real enemy of League. Its competing with all the other programs, and now the interloper. Funny you mention State of Origin....as The larger attendences for League SOO are in qld and ....Vic. Even in its grass roots state it isnt as manifest as youd think. Yes the media build it up...what doesnt the media try to build up in repsective markets but youll get a bigger crowd to a Carlton Collingwood h/a game than a SOO in Sydney... Our Anzac day bash almost trivilaises their ( nrl ) grand final ffs. The NRl are running scared and trying to bolster their brand in qld.. I dont think for a minute the AFL has anything like a cakewalk in establishing the game in Western Sydney. Personally id rather they spend all that money into differetn start ups with a more speedy return for the comp but what is done is done. As rpfc rightly points out many clubs in the NRL operate on precarious fiscal footings. Yes, so do some AFL. There seems at any given time a worry amongst NRL teams regarding stability of existence. The history of that league in modern times has seen the shutting down and merging of many franchises. This is its constant state, and it weakens their brand. Historically much strength for the NRL has been the Sydney centric nature of the league. Like the VFL before AFL it was parochial to a State and kudos to them for ensnaring the Kiwi interest. It had to, as it did in establisihing more higher level presence out of regions nth of Brisbane. There is for mione one simple difference in the motive for the two codes. AFL is permeating the outer reaches in order to Dominate. The NRL hopes to est anywhere in order to survive. It will be interesting watching.
  20. The NRL waitied for the AFL to announce their fixture then slected what it considered its best hand to start the season. THATS rective. Did it lead first NO. . Now the NRl is putting a lot of eggs into very few baskets. Threy may well see it backfire after the opening round. Keep in mind the NRL is a heavily subsidised event. It couldnt stand on its own legs without NEWS ltd. If NEWS ever had to tuck in its head money wise teh NRL would all but stop dead. I often wonder if many who comment on things NSW have ever lived there. If so then the the IGA v Woolies is very appropriate. The ONLY thing the NRL do better is Grand Final entertainement after that its all second fiddle compared to the machine that is the AFL. In terms of real interest the NRL would sit between teh VFL and AFL It will be a battle royal theres no doubt. Some will suggest a fools folly.. Its reactive of the NRL as they will tailor their game going forward to combat the infidel. The AFL would be laughing at this as already its calling the beat of the music.. The AFL has its own money ...the NRL doesnt. Just how long and how hard Rupert wants to fight will be seen. He may also be preoccupied on other fronts.
  21. The AFL isnt scared... they KNOW what they have a s a war chest they know what they are up against. The NRL can only guess and act accordingly. The NRL are and will be playing a reactive role. In real terms its like IGA going to war agaiinst Woolies..... good luck with that !!
  22. I wonder what odds yo could get for a Good ol' demon returning to the ranks ???
  23. Nut, for some of us its easy ...we figured he'd gone ages ago
  24. I think Gallop is kidding himself really. Yes its an ambush and yes the AFL would do the same, as you would. . Only difference is if the AFL did it against the NRL's gate it would have an effect. As rpfc suggest theyre an apathetic bunch NRl supporters.. if it involves anything more than a walk from the lounge to the kitchen or the loo then its all too hard. What we consider a dismal turnout is to them a 'blockbuster' , its either sad or hilarious. The AFL wont be looking for big crowds for many a year at Giants games. Quite simply the NRL is scared.
  25. Watts is starting to look quite solid
