  1. we don't talk about left-wing post-materialist inner-suburbanites with government contracts in the inner-to-middle suburbs
  2. Unfortunately fire pits got banned in burwood in the '70s. too many locals went missing and the stench was terrible we had to get more inventive and sophisticated in making people disappear
  3. Day one and nothing has happened This guy should get the sack
  4. You're lucky, I can't even think of one positive today And to cap it off my central heating unit packed up, and so far i can't get a service man before next tuesday
  5. just to be a little mischievous.... but i was only wondering yesterday if the players would possibly play better with no coach
  6. interesting. in hird's case his family doctor was the club doctor. didn't do him any good assuming doc reid knew what he took i presume he did as it was on the waiver forms signed by players. can't believe reid never saw waivers even if he was bypassed for supplement program if reid as club doc wasn't shown waivers then someone is in big trouble too
  7. you don't know bbo and spanking - it will be his downfall one day - lol
  8. I'm not touching it I'll leave it to biffo if/when he returns maybe bbo will drink from the poisoned chalice?
  9. touching isn't it? looking at too many rorschachs will do that to you
  10. There's a few posters working hard lately to get their post count up Is there a competition on and nobody told me?
  11. it may be the best position, but it can still be an acceptable position to just be marginally behind the line its not acceptable to have the goal umpire hit by the ball in the field of play btw, shouldn't the correct decision be play on if the ball hits the umpire (until/if the ball crosses the line)?
  12. damn....i was hoping jaded wouldn't see this thread
  13. I think you'll find iws that in those circumstances the president talks to the public on behalf of the board Edit: and he has said the coaching position won't be looked at until mid season (although i'm sure it is getting lots of discussion internally)
  14. How many Directors (excl President) of other AFL clubs do you hear making public comments?
  15. more tanking list management?
  16. well schwabby has gone and gaddy has gone back to ch 9. Cuddles is on long service leave. who else did you have in mind? edit: sp
  17. people on land being smartarses Jack? Now that is a conspiracy theory i find hard to believe
  18. UH we are only really disagreeing/differing on degrees. Of course he will review and report, all ceo's do this continually. I only caution on expectations. If neeld goes mid season i expect it will be more a board decision than a jackson decision I think part of the reason we went for an interim ceo was to give the club some time to extensively search for the best guy (or gal?) as a permanent appointment If there was a ready made top applicant available now we would surely have gone for him. 6 months is not a lot of time especially mid season and takes us to the end of season when more potential applicants might become more available.
  19. I might be wrong but i think a lot of people have a inflated idea of what a 6 month interim but full-time ceo can achieve he walks into a strange (and i emphasise strange) new club cold as well as managing the club he is to do an in-depth review of the club and suggest major changes he is to report to both the board and the afl there is no outgoing ceo to do an in-depth handover he has to help find his successor the andrews report will be ancient history as many of the big-knobs from that era are gone or doing different jobs (but no doubt will make interesting reading anyway) All of this is supposition because i can't find any club or afl statements spelling this out I'm sure he will do some sort of review but i can't see it as being as extensive and in-depth as some would wish
  20. Hahaha, i did recognise a couple of posters there good one
  21. ummm, i'm trying to get my mind around this the board appoints the CEO and he is responsible to the board but you are suggesting the CEO reports to the AFL on how to fix the board? Isn't that a direct conflict of interest and responsibility?
  22. of course colin it was just in the interests of accuracy
  23. yes there are differences with boundary umpires. they don't have posts in their way but no one is suggesting the goal umpire stand outside the posts boundary umpires also have the curve of the boundary in the distance to contend with ask wayne harmes and collingwood whether boundary decisions affect scores anyway, i didn't intend the comment re boundary umpires to be a major point, just that decisions can be made without being in the field of play
