-
lol - may as well accept you're going to vomit, budge most of us here have been vomiting for a few weeks, some even for a few years (but not always for mfc reasons) maybe we should rename this forum to vomitland?
-
think you might have missed the point, but ah well it was worth a try.......
-
i think that might be a strawman argument moonie (and i think you plagiarised it from your guardian link) i could name a number of more successful people in history who ended up unpopular and even in ignominy but why bother
-
there you go again with that little mind reading trick of yours
-
Yes. I know a couple of people who you would describe as aboriginal rights activists who thought (in their reasoned way) that some of adam goodes's comments after his aoty were not very helpful it wasn't because he told "uncomfortable truths" or that they were being racist, just that they thought he could have used his position in a more positive way they did not hate or dislike goodes for what he said, just simply didn't approve of his approach i also know people who applauded what goodes said now it is irrelevant whether you or i would agree with their opinions or not, just that people are entitled to their contrary opinions without constantly being called racists it's called opinion I also have a close friend who is a rabid swans supporter. all her family have been for generations. in fact one of her family wrote a book on the swans. they would staunchly support any swan. they are all very decent people and i've never detected any racism in them. when i recently discussed this with her i was surprised when she said she thought he had to an extent brought it upon himself. she also thought the media reaction only inflamed it. again just an opinion. people are people and they have a range of emotions and reactions that don't always fit into neat little boxes. popularity or lack of it can be a very fickle thing at times i will agree on one thing though. it's time for the booing of goodes to stop, but it's also time to stop the inflammatory rhetoric (from both sides)

gee roostit, i wish i had your mind reading ability. i could make a fortune or are you just reading from the prayer book?
-
lot of common sense there doc in one way you agree with munga his "main" beef was that he objected to the premise (held by some here) that anyone who boo'ed goodes was being racist (no matter what) this is plainly taking an extremist view and is quite presumptuous of other peoples' thought processes it seems to me that many people don't like the way goodes goes about things on or off the field, and whether or not one disagrees with their reasoning it doesn't necessarily mean it has to be racially based if we could all agree that some (undefined) people who boo goodes are acting in a racist manner, but not all of them, then we could just move on past this point belabouring this one point is becoming tiresome and circuitous

you're just digging a bigger hole, bob

now there is a prejudicial, biased comment if ever i saw one
-
chris, your argument though presumes that a reduction to 12 means only a reduction of vic clubs. this assumption means only 4 clubs in vic but still 2 each in nsw and qld this would never fly more logical mix for 12, would be 6 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1......or maybe 5 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 +1 (tas) but there again why 12? (apart from 2 x 11 = 22) why not 14? (and top 8 must play each other twice next year)
-
let me first state that i don't/won't partake in the booing of goodes secondly i'm not offended at all by goodes even if i don't agree with everything he says but, m'k, there is definitely something going on here in addition to racism. if you can't see that then it's you who has the closed mind

putting rights and wrongs to one side, it's a classic case of pouring petrol on a fire you never appease an anonymous mob by further inciting them, including giving them all a convenient label

Tipping Point Has Been Reached...
daisycutter replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
if we beat collingwood it will just be a dead cat bounce -
yeah, i noticed that. ignored all leads, went back for the shot, milked the full 30 seconds then deliberately (IMO) just kicked it to the top of the square after the whole pack had descended. it just baffled me he can kick goals from 50. after he indicated he was going to have a crack why didn't he. i think he chickened out as he was too scared of missing

thanks. so what did the mcc do? they probably cut it to 15mm as a compromise and made it bad for both - lol for those who said the mcg was in bad shape, could they elaborate? i didn't notice any obvious stuff except for some faint line markings left from the soccer

Delistings/trades at end of the season
daisycutter replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
understand that, but dawes was brought in as a marquee player on top dollar. rodan and byrnes were always just steak knives. -
yes, but do you know the reasons? just curious
-
they cut the grass shorter for soccer, or so i heard but still the soccer teams complained about the surface. i read of the complaints but not the specifics. anyone know?
