  1. It's a fine line between having all the tools and just being one.

He walked out on the club, he's not the only one.

He hasn't been able to put in enough hard work to succeed in the AFL. He's not the only one.

    Wow, must be a tool.

He's actually a hell of a nice guy.

Potshots from behind your computer. Nice work hero.

  2. Although i applaud your sentiment, the reality is that if we are still sh7t, it's likely you will still get angry with players. Don't bother fighting it.

Once we are better, our players will be less sh7t, and you won't get as angry.

ps curry and beer your avatar is hot.

  3. Hogans back issues are symptomatic. In other words, he complains of tightness, and that is the only thing the physios have to go off. there is nothing "wrong" with his back that shows up on scans, etc. Hopefully one day he learns how to deal with chronic back and hammy tightness but if not I can't see him playing many games of afl sadly.

  4. Gee this "Demonland Group Think" Grimes disposal issue is getting tired.

    Talk about a whipping boy.

I admit his disposal is not great but hes not on his own and IMO is getting singled out.

Last season his Effective Disposal % was 78.0% compared to others below it stacks up pretty well.

    Jones 73.6%

    Watts 80%

    Tyson 72.6%

    Vince 64.7%

    Garland 78.9%

    Jetta 87.7%

    Dunn 79.5%

I might be biased and you can make statistic work many ways but Grimes disposal is no worse than many others.

I can see pass the odd missed target and take him for what he is.

PS Matt Suckling regarded as one of the best kicks in the comp went at 78.8%

Difference is suckling is trying to hit targets 55 metres away surrounded by opponents but in position for a shot at goal. Grimesy (and others, I agree with you there) are missing targets 15 metres away with chip kicks that cost us goals.

  5. Did someone hand Grimes a football at the end of it so he could practice hitting a target by foot when he is that fatigued?

Stop buying into the Roos talk.

It's not the fatigue that's the problem for Grimesy, it's the loss of self belief in his ability to execute effectively when it matters most.

Roos just says it's the fatigue because he doesn't want to say "the boys shat themselves when the game was on the line because they were too scared to make a mistake and not prepared to back themselves in to win".

Anybody who was at Etihad for the Brisbane game knows what I'm talking about.

  6. Just to show how professional it is now was speaking to a Demonland reader who said I should repeat these bits

Each morning the players text how they are feeling, ie sore, sick, injured, fine, etc etc, at the end of a training session they are asked to rate how they found it, on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being easy, most today rated it an 8

There is also a camera situated at the freeway end of the ground, the operator has a joystick to operate it, he has a script of what the coaches want him to film, there was also a second guy with a hand held today, being instructed by Roos what to film

They have been doing that since Misso started I believe. They also detail how many hours sleep they had each night and a bit of other stuff.

  7. That is true but with a bad back any movement that is a little wonky can harm the back muscles

AFAIK, Hogan's back is completely symptomatic. He experiences pain in his back, but there is nothing structural or physical that comes up on scans etc, not since the original stress fracture.

An awkward kicking action won't make it worse.

  8. The thing to remember with Garlett is that he produced his best football alongside Betts. Once he lost his partner he went to pieces.

He doesn't seem to have coped very well with being the primary small forward. What we hope here is that playing him up the ground he'll get more room to move and use his speed to set up scores rather than kick the goals himself.

Or Betts leaving was just one of many contributing factors which resulted in him having a poor year...

  9. Saturday showed once again that games (and premierships for that matter) are won in the midfield and down the spine. Even the best half back flanker (and Lumumba is a long way from that) will rarely influence the result of a game, and certainly will not bring us any closer to being a decent side. Malceski was close to Sydney's best, and he had zero impact from his flank.

We need to build a core group of the calibre of Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis, Burgoyne, Roughead, Gibson, etc. If that means throwing everything at guys like Dangerfield, that is fine by me. But, unless they are prepared to come through the PSD for nothing, wasting our time on players like Lumumba and Malceski is ensuring that we remain mediocre for the forseeable future.

Yeah, can't agree with that sorry. With the state of the game these days it's 18 v 18 out there, and if you can make your 18 better, then you should do that. Focusing solely on improving only a subset of the players you put on the pitch just doesn't make sense to me.

  10. Just in relation to my earlier post, about Mitch talking to Other clubs, My source is in the Media, I work in the AFL media, I hear things, so I pass them on, and I am very confident with info I was told about Mitch.

I was just talking to the receptionist at work. Theoretically, one could assert that my relationship with my wife was on the rocks because i have been "seen with other women".

I highly doubt Mitch Clark would treat the MFC that way (leaving to go to another club) after the way his contract with the MFC went down.

I think he has more integrity than that.

  11. That was as bad as it has got for me after 34 years of watching the Dees. I will always support them, but the current group has completely lost me now. Some of the efforts today were deplorable. It all started with Kent, burning his teammates over and over again. Even his second goal, he should've given off. Watts continually leads to the right spots, and his teammates flung hospital handballs over their heads blindly. Absolute joke. We are the only team in the comp who doesn't realise if you don't play on your dead in today's game.
