  1. Just because they dont put it on TV doesnt stop them from being creative in much the same way Nugget has been. A classy and entertaining 1 min clip placed on youtube or emailed around amongst supporters in the form of viral marketing can still reach a large audience and deliver the clubs message. If its good enough it will spread far and wide.
  2. Good to hear about his acountability. I wanst Shaw But dont kid yourself, their disposal and pace are very similar. I know many pie fans that would be delighted with this.
  3. And we needed Wards pace. What we dont need is their disposal. I cant say I have watched him closely enough to know but I assume his accountability would be the same? The last thing we need is another lose, bad user of the footy. Bell, Whelan, Wheatly, Bartram, are all way ahead of him and we have Petterd, CJ, Bode, Buckley developing....no thankls
  4. I agree. R Shaw = Ward A step backwards.
  5. It might not be so much about finding actual talent, rather giving China a real interest in the MFC. Having one of their own training with us and a chance of one day play with us will no doubt give them some interest and ownership in our brand. One would think they would have also been able to secure some AFL funding under a game development initiative. Smart move and sure to crate some positive publicity over there. And with regards to the player/s being any good...its a long shot but its also an untaped sourse...you just never know.
  6. Could be the real reason why Judd didnt want to come...
  7. If it was about the playing list he would the joined the Pies...
  8. Okay so I have been quiet on the whole Judd saga and I have to say I am more than just a little disapointed with how it has all unfolded. But rather than a 1000 word post I will let my new avitar express how I feel. Good luck in 08 Judd
  9. Only if your going to donate them to me.... Come on...who doesnt love seeing Hird hit the deck.....over and over and over and over again...
  10. Why not start a poll....(I woud but dont know how), with everyone who has been nominated so far as a candidate
  11. That is my concern. Will he fully recover from this groin injury. Are there any examples of players that have and never looked back?
  12. Well done to Jonesy.... Though the only thing that worries me about this is that if he is our best player this year and does not take out the rising star award (Sellwood will get it) then what does this say about our list? I know injuries were a factor but just something to think about...
  13. I think this point above is spot on. He should be top 5 but it Sellwood for me. Either way he is a fine player.
  14. This is of course, assuming Bailey and Connolly would be interested in such a position.
  15. High turnover is a financial cost for any organisation. It goes way beyond paying out accrued entitlements. Recruitment, induction, training, commencement administration are all costs and they are just some tangible ones. It takes most staff a number of months before they have a sufficient understanding of the organisation, how it works and their role within it before they can perform at anywhere near capacity. The point you made that the reason for turnover should be more of a concern is valid. You need to solve a problem at its source not attack its symptoms. But dont think for a moment high turnover is not a financial concern. Most of its cost are hidden but they are there.
  16. Davey - hamstring
  17. I can tell you executive search companies are not cheep (I understand we may have used one). The process they are undergoing would draw a lot of time and resources, something we dont have a lot of. It would be a very expensive PR exercise if it is as you suggest redleg. I highly doubt it.
  18. If he was any good he would be odds on at Freo. Listening to him on whiteline fever when he was on there I did not really like what he had to give. Too whiny and not really constructive. I would rather ND over this twit...got himself KOed in Darwin too!
  19. Father and son???
  20. I am flying up from Darwin for this game (having a one week bucks party in Melbourne). So I hope the boys put on a good show!!! Would hate to see the Bizz out 2 after pretty good matches.
  21. I dont think that would be out of the question. But there is a lot to think about with such a move, such as how the rest of the playing group will respond (I would say favourably but you cant assume that) or would he even want to be in his first year at a new club. The desire to lead the team he supported as a kid to a flag might just be very tempting for him. Looking for what ever competitive advantage we might have and what will differntiate our bid from the others is a good start. I really think the club needs to be very strategic with the way it goes about any pitch and if not done right it could lose out because the competition for his services will be hot.
  22. Pav, Judd, Riewoldt...in that order but I would be happy with either
  23. If we really think "who he supported as a kid" will make a difference, the I hope the club gets some ex-stars whom he would have looked upto to go over and talk to him like Lyon or Stynes. The club will need to be very strategic in its sales pitch bwcause it will not be alone in its desires to get him.
  24. He is very raw but clearly has good potential. I like his pace and looks like he will be able to keep up with the faster leading forwards, not to mention running the ball out of the backline with dash. His kicking style is a little awkward but the end result isnt too bad, my only concern is that it is a little cumbersome. I think he and Warnock would be competing for a similar role and at this stage I have the feeling that spud will end up the better player.
