What are YOU going to do about it?
s-t-i-n-g-a replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well not much I can do from Darwin, but despite the fact I will most likely not get to a game this year (unless I can sneak away for the weekend) I have today, despite all the doom and gloom, bought my membership. It would have been easy not to bother, with the way things are looking but I realise it is now more than ever that the Demons need its supporters. Come on guys and gals, if you havent already get on board!!!! -
Oh you mean this one Really gave our side a spark that day and set up a beautiful TJ goal.

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/afl-...5126118754.html I dont see this any different to cheating the salary cap...they have gained an unfair advantage and should be sanctioned.

What I would like to know is, does the club have a HR Manager?

How horribly mistaken I am... For thinking that its not unreasonable for questions to be asked about the performance of the person directly responsible for our players conditioning when we have an injury list longer than one of Dappa's post's. I 100% agree with you that those that already consider him guilty without anything factual to base it on are being presumptuous and premature. As I have already stated, in the absence of any compelling factual knowledge none of us on here would actually have a clue. All im saying is that if 08 turns out to be similar to 07 injury wise, questions will be asked and some of them will be about BB. If that surprises you than you surprise me.
-
You might say im conducting a witch hunt and I might say your sticking your head in the sand. But I think we would both agree that weather arguing for or against him none of us on here would actually know enough to put a factual case either way. All im saying is that as our strength and conditioning coach, with an injury list like ours, it shouldnt surprise anyone that people would be asking hows he going. None of that actually says it is actually his fault.

It hasnt stoped Eddie and its not stoping Brayshaw...

Actually it does hold and I used Davey as example. On the weekend he was not injured and clearly in our "best" 22 for the Geelong match. However he was emergency rather then in the starting line up due to his fitness levels. If that was a home and away match last year he would have been playing without a doubt.

I understand that without the facts and no real knowledge in the area it is a little hard for those on an internet forum to make a judgement. But the heat would surly be on him to have the players in better condition for the rigours of a full AFL season. You will always have a few players out, this is a contact sport but our injury list is not sustainable.

Having so many players with niggles is not the best leading into the season. But please note the team is taking the concervative line with players and injuries. The team on the weekend was based on which players were the fittest, trained the hardest and got the most K's into the legs. It doesnt mean those that didnt play are nessecarily injured (of course it doesnt mean that they are not either) rather they are not at peek fitness (eg Davey). DB appears to be taking the long term approach and played the fittest team rather than the best team. This might have something to do with us not getting any new injuries our of the game.

Post game thread - Demonland vs Saintsational
s-t-i-n-g-a replied to pringle's topic in Melbourne Demons
Unfortunatly Mick, I know exactly how you feel. After 12 months with no footy, that was a complete shock to the system. Thanks all for the game it was good to be in town to have a run and even better to see a red and blue outfit play ruthless footy. -
I was at the game...a couple of points: I did not think Yze was a positive yesterday. Didnt go nearly as hard as he should have and made mistakes by foot that he just shouldnt. Was impressed with Maric. He didnt do a lot bt he just showed a few good signs. For someone mosted noted for his foot skills than anything else, I was most impressed with his pace and attack. He made a few really good efforts to chase down an opponent. I think he will be good in time. Aussie was good for his first game. Not quite the next Davey but useful none the least. Garland - was impressed with the way he moved. Quite agile for a big fella. The troubles of the past are not quite gone...too many time yesterday we handballed to stationary players or those under pressure. As opposed to Geelong who found players in space and ran in waves. In the first quater in particular it seemed as though Geelong had an extra 5 players on the field.

Actually I think RR is right. If there is a tactical advantage to be gained by keeping an injury quiet any code would do so. Thurstans in the ARL played most of last year with a shoulder injury, unbeknown to the opposition for fear they would target and try to exploit it. Wheather you like it or not professional sport is highly competitive and clubs of all codes will do all in their power to ensure their chances of success is not comprimised. Even if that means not disclosing the full details of player injuries to fans and of course the opposition.

Whilst he is from the islands, I am not sure he has spent that much time there over the last few years, spending most of his time playing footy in Darwin and Adeldide. A friend of mine spoke to him today and he is wraped to be joining the MFC. There are a few Tiwi Islanders I would love to see in the red and blue (none more so than Ephram Tipungwuti) but know they would never adapt to the riggers of AFL. I am not nearly as concerened about Aussie in this regard.
