  1. So what was the actual "news"?
  2. The B&F sounds like its going ok so...not us??? Would be great if it were the bumbers!!!
  3. The real losers here would have to be the saints.
  4. It's worth bearing in mind that the risk is all on GWS and GC and the benefit is all on those after us in the draft. Unless Viney is genuinely worth pick 1 or 2 I would not want my club making taking a risk that largely benefited others and not us.
  5. http://m.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/whats-a-player-worth-just-give-the-afl-a-call-20120912-25stf.html This is what I was after, so we will have some information on which to base our decisions. However it's still not known if its cumulative.
  6. What ever the case may be I hope the AFL hasn't left it to be a complete mystery to the clubs too because how the formula is calculated will impact the decisions we make. For example if we lost rivers and moloney and that netted a top level pick (if it is cumulative) but wanted to pick up Byrnes what impact would that have? If it took our compensation from a pick after our to a pick in a round to a pick at the end of the round we might choose to trade for him instead so he's not included in the calculations.
  7. From what I can tell your none the wiser...so well done again. It seems that from this discussion and others that no one really knows all the facts.
  8. You missed the point...well done...
  9. Do you know that for a fact? What if the saints lost Goddard but gained Bate? Surely it can't be based purely on numbers but there is a value component.
  10. They might no be individually but if it's based on nett gain/loss they might be worth it combined. You would think if it's done this way you would get one pick based in your total loss rather than a pick per player because it's impacted by the players you gain.
  11. Do we know if it tallies up or not? Because If we end up with pick 5 that would be huge. And I'd imagine the club might look to trade to pick up any desired free agents rather that through free agency so it does not impact our net loss and therefore compensation. I do hope the club has a good understanding of how this all works so it can make the beat decisions. They might not know the formula but I hope the know the compensation based on verious senarios.
  12. Do we know if it tallies up or not? Because
  13. If it is unlikely he can contribute next year we can just pay him out and create a spot on our list for a free agent, draftee or rookie upgrade.
  14. So for the sake of our draft position we should be hoping Goddard stays at st kilda.
  15. Freo's results last year were impacted by a shocking injury list. I have no doubt Lyon has had a positive impact there but a better run with injuries would have helped also. Their list has ours covered easily...
  16. I didn't say it was a good idea
  17. Would be an upgrade on bennell I suppose as he gets a bit more of the ball.
  18. Is thIs what Green was talking about when referring to players buying in?
  19. But we can match it so we can trade him. Or he will have to go through the draft. As opposed to the pies who won't be able to match what ever offer Cloke gets so they will have to settle for compo.
  20. Thanks
  21. Where do you rate Viney in the draft AoB? And where would you rate Martin and hogan?
  22. Except our pick 4 still beats any other offer they can get...and if we have to use pick 3 on Viney we will be more inclined to hang on to 4. I still don't think GWS would risk missing out on Whitfield to see if we are bluffing...the risk is too great and the benefit is to others behind us in the draft not them so its crazy and if I was a member I would be [censored].
  23. Bumbers never trade fair and would want more than he is worth ...
  24. It's just you...
