    What a great read! I can't say I have said that often after a Caro article. I suppose the difference is EQ is interested in football and not just gossip.

    Id have thought if we massarged the profit by bringing forward revenue and pushing back expenses we would only be setting ourselves up to fail the following year. I dont think anyone has the stomach for that. As an aside, the nay sayers seem to speak of such manipulation with authority and it is perhaps why the previous board had such a spectacular loss in their final year. What we have seen is four years of conservative profits. There is a pattern and it tells me that the administration are effective at setting a budget and sticking to it...ie managing expenses to match revenue with a determination not to make a loss given our goal to reduce debt. When the EW disaster happened I can recal CS saying that this was not ideal but we will get through it by managing our expenses and we may not be able to invest in some program's, no doubt to mitigate against a loss. Sounds sensible to me and most likely what has happened...we have managed our spending to our revenue. I do take the point about hoping we didn't achieve the result by not paying 100% of the cap as I see this as a crucial weapon in managing our list for a tilt at the flag. But we don't know that at this point and we could easily have made saving by dropping other planned program's if required. I suppose that is a good question for the AGM if it has not otherwise come to light. I think we are more likely to have managed the books by sensible spending than deceitful accounting that will only hurt us down the track but I guess that will reveal itself in time.

    They were diversion articles because the HS was running the Connors and Martin story. Cotchin wants to keep his number written in the most glowing terms...wow what a story...Not one reference to the ongoing Martin drama which is the biggest news. And had throw in a line about their 3m profit...which includes their fighting fund donations. I could be wrong but we seperate out debt demolition donations when reporting ours?

    Thanks, It was a worry that the write up in another thread said he had lost some pace this year. His output still look very good though. If there are no worries with this he seems exactly the player we need more so than wines. And if we are after wines because of the link to Viney he also seems to have a high regard for toumpas naming him as having the best leadership credentials in the draft and the would have played together in the SA side.

    Does anyone know much about his hip injury? Is it something that has a high success rate of full recovery following surgery or is it something that could hang around. In one of the write ups it was said to effect his speed. Aside from this he sounds like the perfect pick up for our side and will comlement Viney well.

    To be honest...this was so contrived and bias that all I felt was apathy towards it...her impact is starting to wain on me already...she is a bit like Hazey you take notice at first but after a while you realise it's not someone putting forward something that is intelectual and considered. Unlike Dons statement today. There are plenty of nuff nuff this will speak to but she really is exposing herself in an undignified manner.
