  1. Hey High Tower - thanks for the info. I'm a bit vague when it comes to draft picks. I can't see us winning any more games. To be honest, we couldn't wait for the siren to sound on Saturday as the raw emotion exhausted everyone, and West Coast were still coming. BTW, I didn't reply to you about Miller on the wing. I'm serious, let's try him as a link up man. He's fit, can kick fairly accurately over 30 metres or so and he's got great hands. I think he's been murdered at the moment because there's always 2 or 3 against him.
  2. Yes, I know, I've already acknowledged that I made a mistake.
  3. Thanks for the info - I probably caught him at his worst. His nose was all bandaged up and he looked pretty stuffed. Butcher was the 'tank' talker - sorry, I got my young 'uns mixed up.
  4. I've heard the name, watched the NAB thingy on Foxtel and this guy was okay, but nothing extraordinary. Has he had too much press already? He was interviewed by Hutchy and he was coy about becoming a Demon, saying that he'd love to go to the Tigers!! Didn't he also say that he wouldn't go to a team that tanked? Mmmm....I don't think I like the arrogance that exudes from this young fella - no humility, no diplomacy. Is everyone sure he'll go Numero Uno?
  5. Wasn't that keen to come initially - but, when he came down and saw that this a real footy club, he loved it. In his first practice match against the Crows, I saw him give TJ an absolute mouthful for some undisciplined act that Trapper was good at. I hope he continues to have a fantastic season.
  6. We made a bad call? What else is new? Is that the same bad call that brought Ellis? Moorcroft? Pickett? Reid? to the Club - don't get me started there! My fixation with scapegoats doesn't finish with these two. The issue is that the selection panel see them as a 'soft' option at the bequest of others. There were several players whose form deserves a stint with the dew kickers.
  7. They are a soft option to drop - drop McLean, Rivers, Jetta or Bruce. Their form doesn't warrant a game week in, week out.
  8. West Coast knew he couldn't mark the ball when they let him go.
  9. Thanks for your replies - these guys are scapegoats and will continue to be unless they find new clubs or they're 'coached' Maybe, just maybe, they might need a basic instruction like, 'Johnno, you contest and split open the packs' and 'Brad, keep presenting, then kick into the zone you've created for Bate or Robbo to run into'. This is too simplistic for its own good, but one game attended, i read Bailey's comment to Moloney - Ready? 'Get the ball, just get the ball!' Surprisingly, it worked. I don't want to micro-manage or analyse form too much, but if selection criteria involves playing well, then mclean, pettard, jetta, jurrah are all lucky to hold their spots.
  10. ....are just whipping boys for this inept selection committee. there were worse players than those two last week, but they cop it all the time. Miller is NOT a KPP - unfortunately, they're still seduced by the sins of ND and they have no idea how to help him or get him right. He belongs on the wing and he runs hard to present. Johnson needs to sit in the forward pocket and stay there. FFS it's not Physics or Pythagoras, they're just footballers, employees who need direction. Bailey, get it right!
  11. Correct - he's in a moon boot and he'll get the all clear to start light jogging soon........
  12. I understand what you're saying, but we always seem to miss out on the 'premiership clock' so to speak. Smacked in 2000, we haven't been a contender for nearly 10 years. I know plenty of other clubs are in the same boat, but they went out and got high profile coaches....worsfold, matthews and roos. BTW, they all have one major thing in common and eade has been a new lease of life for the Doggies and they're not without some chance this year. Imagine the young draftees licking their chops at coming to a club that has a legend of the game waiting for them? I'm talking impact, impact, impact. Anyway it's been good to get some healthy, friendly debate going... Take care, Jumbo
  13. Well, let's not forget that the club gave some other guy 9 years and he did jacks***! What's he done right? Nothing.
  14. Paul McNamee had terrible credentials from the start, head hunted by a desperate regime without direction. I see Jim Stynes as a different type of thinker who wants this mighty club to not only survive, but to thrive. Buckley is in a league of his own. What a catch he'd be....
  15. G'day High Tower - nice avatar, our boy's going quite well... There's so much to do and my problem is how quickly some teams re-build compared to us. Look at Brissy, Essendon, and at this stage, even West Coast are in front of us. Their coaches have a game plan that is set in stone - you don't perform, you're in the seconds. A big turnover of the list needs to occur. Getting rid off White and Yze was hardly ground breaking. Take care, Jumbo
  16. Can't articulate any better? Need some ROFL, LMAO or LOL to get you going? All I'm trying to say is let's try something different. Contrary to the belief on this forum, individuals, especially high-profile ones, make a difference. Jim Stynes becomes president, memberships go through the roof. Cousins goes to the Tiges, ignites 2-3 million in the coffers straight away. Judd to Carlton....you get my point. Not on will Buckley become a huge success on the field, but the club will reap the benefits off the field as well.
  17. that's why i said take some risks..........
  18. Too emotive? Have I travelled into territory that harbours the blackest desires of all our hearts? Will this thread be allowed to run? This guy, as a player, single handedly coached every young player in that Collingwood team to the extent that they almost pinched a premiership. Think of the aura, the presence, the promotion this bloke would deliver. With picks 1 and 2 pending, I think it deserves some thought. Are we ready to take some risks????
  19. what's your contention? your oral can't just be on the MFC. you need to argue persuasively about a point of view. it might be, 'should the mfc spend more on their football dept?' or am i wrong? is it a VCE oral?
  20. drdrake, your optimism is overriding the reality atm. we are getting better, but the game plan will take a couple of years yet, and our players make costly errors by hand and foot. we get murdered on the turn overs. frankly, i can't see us winning any more games, but that's okay because there's finally some direction with the club.
  21. Mr Butcher, esquire, will bloody well go to the club that selects him. Big-headed so and so!
  22. 100% agree - hate him, hate the bombers. ffs, he's doing that dream team rubbish! go away and retire. [censored].
  23. I'd love to see him as a permanent full forward, now that Davey has developed as a midfielder. i concur with all these comments - he's been terrific for three or four years now.......... jumbo
  24. i LOVE this question - please, please, please, less than 4!
