I assume this post is aimed at me? At least you've made the conscious decision to engage on a positive level. For years and years we have maligned the demise of the hard nut at our footy club. We now have two. A third would have been Wines who plays the game with rigour, loves the contest and gets his own ball. I have not seen any of these traits in Jimmy Toumpas. If we're going down the stats route, we got smashed in clearances in 2012. Another opportunity gone to recruit a ready made hard nut.

As WYL said, impact players were needed. Jimmy doesn't have the presence or strength to impose himself on a game. Wines has done it in his first year.

I don't know if Giles will transform JW to want to 'compete' unless JW wants it as well. Great skills, we all feel safe with the ball in his hands, but as for being combative, nah. IRW, this conversation has been done to death, let's agree to disagree and talk about the upcoming draft.

Jack is not a contact player. He is best suited as a swooping HBF. If his physicality matched his footy nous, he'd be a super star.
