I have never been a Newton fan and I admit i have not seen him play recently, however could he be a late bloomer?? he is only 23. By drafting another kid, are you better with the devil you know?? I'm undecided. I hope for his sake the he puts in a blinder on Sunday.
-
question is would he make our best 22?
-
Round 1 without doubt. This was our final. Even though it was the first game, with all the hype of the new kids, this was to be the measuring stick for the year. Now we did recover but from all the pre-season excitement, the evening of the 27th March as one of the worst gut reaching nights I've ever had!

The selections over this and next week will show some surprises. Bail v's newton as an example. Based on performance Woona and Watts have ? marks on how they hold their spot. However, there must be some plan. Guys that have performed with Casey over the past few weeks include Miller, Cheney, Warnock,Tapscott,Maric,Bate, only Warnock, and now Newton get a gig. I wonder what the plan is???????????????

What is the difference with 3 weeks to go, between - The Season and indefinite?
-
Neville Jetta injured his shoulder.
-
Totally agree.
All he (or any player) can do is play very well & keep pressure on players in the seniors to keep playing well themselves. And, Miller is doing that at the moment. Will be a very handy player to have come finals time.
Btw - didnt see Morton out there.......
Jones and Morton not playing! mmmmmmmmmm?
-
In every great side - every spot is up for grabs. However, Jones is very stiff. His performance has been better than Jurrah , Aussie and JB combined over many weeks. I hope the MFC never gets political. Jurrah and Aussie have averaged less than 5 disposals a game whilst Jones average is just under 20. I know you compare mids with forwards is apples and pears however Jurrah and Aussie need to have a better return to be elite forwards. In my opinion we need a better forward line and the coguar, the mozzie and JB are not the level of Geelong, Hawthorne, Saints, doggies & Collingwood top 3.

Other clubs can only admire us now! Every dog has their day

An outstanding day for the Melbourne Football Club. My heart is bursting with pride. Now boys, demolish those Tigers!!
Says it all!!

Smells alot like Geelong, from memory they were millions in debt, they wiped it and are now a power house team. Lets hope History repeats!!!
Fantastic job boys and girls!!!

6. Sylvia
5. Jordie Mc
4. Garland
3. Scully

Sorry to Dunny, Green, Barty,Frawley, Joel Mac, Bail, Jones and Davey (goal save of the year!!)
-
A forward line a forward line, my team for a forward line!!
Jurrah- out of his league
Aussie – needs to be more dangerous like Leon Davis
Bennell – only flashes in and out need to be more consistent.
Watts – gets better each game but still not up to the big league. Dropping easy marks, no excuse.
Depending on the Casey game tomorrow,
In – Bate Moloney, Trengrove, (a tossup Maric, or last chance Miller)
-
Jordie McKenzie - 26 touches, 17 contested, 9 tackles. He's got better odds of getting the nomination than West Coast missing the 8.
Gotta get a nomination.
-
Absolutely lovely 2 goals after half time a worry
lets sing the song loud and proud
the emblem of the team we love.
Whata we sing !!!!!!!!!!!

It is obvious we have a youth policy, so i looked at all the clubs senior list (no rookies)and to get a guide of youth in each club current list and added up all players born only in 1990 and 1991.
The list is some what predictable and a little surprising too.
Freo 15
Melb 14
Geel 14
W/C 12
Nth 11
Adel 10
Bris 10
Haw 9
Ess 9
Rich 9
Stk 8
Coll 7
Syd 7
WB 7
Car 6
Surprising that Geelong looks like they are planning for the future now and Carlton hasn't
Dont exactly know what it all means but you would suspect that if we keep a core of those 1990's babies our future will be assured. But do we need 26+ year old recruits? I dont know.
