  1. No, it's not official yet but the news that Junior failed to front a meeting at Skilled Stadium between his manager and Cats CEO Brian Cook and operations manager Neil Balme seems to have sealed the issue as far as I'm concerned - Cats make pitch to keep Gary Ablett.

"Pickering told a waiting media contingent that his client was 'in no rush' to make a decision on his future."

Sorry, but that is an attitude that smacks of total contempt for the Geelong Footall Club which is obviously waiting for the Ablett decision so that it can organise itself for the year(s) ahead.

    Ablett's Gawn.

The AFL would have organised for him to announce it early next week so as to not overshadow Grand Final week, and give the AFL some momentum betwen the GF and draft week. Decision was made 12 months ago.

  2. FB: Bartram, Garland, Rivers

    HB: Bruce, Frawley, MacDonald

    C: Trengove, McKenzie, Davey

    HF: Petterd, Watts, Dunn

    FF: Jurrah, Green, Bennell

    Fol: Jamar, Sylvia, Jones

Int: Grimes, James McDonald ©, Moloney, Scully

Emer: Bate, Wonnaeamirri, Bail, Warnock, Morton, Maric

We have seriously developed a sensational core 30 players that will hold us in good stead. I can't do these best 22s anymore. I'm convinced Bail must play. I can't tell you who to drop though. Morton as an Emergency? Crazy days!

  3. B Grimes Warnock Garland

    HB Blease Frawley MacDonald

    C Morton Scully Davey

    HF Bennell Watts Sylvia

    F Jurrah Bate Petterd

    Fol Jamar Trengove Gysberts

    Int Green Moloney McKenzie Strauss

Thats the most fun I have had in a long long time.

Huge apologies to Jetta, Tapscott, Jonesy, Woenamirri, Rivers, Fitzparick, Dunn, Cheney, Bail, Gawn, Mcnamara, who will all play plenty of football that year because we're always going to have injuries.

Give me that forward 6 on the park every week next year, and I'll be a happy happy man!

I know he's not playing a lot, but can't wait for Sam Blease's speed off half back.

  4. Won't line up like this, but here goes

I would give my leftie to see Green line up at Full Forward

    Cheney Warnock Rivers

    JoelMac Frawley Grimes

    Davey Sylvia Trengove

    Maric Bate Bruce

    Wonna Green Jurrah

    Jamar Moloney Scully

    Int: Spencer, Jones, Petterd, Jetta

    Apologies: Bennell, Miller, numerous others

Can those who have left JoelMac out of their teams please explain why? I don't understand =(

  5. B: CHENEY, FRAWLEY, RIVERS

    HB: BENNELL, WARNOCK, MACDONALD

    C: GRIMES, MOLONEY, MORTON

    HF: TRENGOVE, MILLER, SCULLY

    F: SYLVIA, JURRAH, GREEN

    FOLL: JAMAR, MCDONALD, JONES

IC: SPENCER, MARTIN, MCKENZIE, JETTA, PETTERD, MARIC

    EMERG: GYSBERTS, DUNN, STRAUSS, BARTRAM

The positions may change but I reckon that's pretty close considering the injuries

  6. Gees its great to see when you have to leave out talented players with no injuries the competition for spots will be hot

    FB. Trengove, Warnock, Garland

    HB. Rivers, Frawley, Joel Mac

    C. Morton, J Mac , Davey

    HF. Sylvia, Bate, Jurrah,

    FF. Green, Watts, Woenamirri

    R. Jamar, Moloney, Grimes

    IC. Scully, Martin, Bruce, Jones

Sincerest Apologies. Petterd, Bennell, Jetta, Cheney, Dunn, Maric

And young guns, tearing it up fo Casey: Blease, Strauss, Gysberts, Tapscott, T Mac

If you haven't been named, you have a bit of work to do...

There is some serious pressure on spots here. If anyone isn't training the house down, they're going to struggle to see game time!

  7. As I said in a thread earlier in the year, I can't remember whether he can play or not. I do remember that I changed my mind 100 times during 2008, but too much water has passed under the bridge since he last played.

Clean slate 2010 as far as I'm concerned.

The thing I remember most watching the games from level 4 of the G is how well he read the play, and moved to the right spot inctinctively ALL the time. I remember vividly a goal he kicked against Collingwood, where he was running back towards the goal and intinctively cut inside, leaving his oponant for dead, and him free to take the ball on his chest and boot the goal from 40 on the run. Bring on 2010

  8. Lets see if we can come up with some beauty's.

    Scully - Dana

    Trengove - Noah (no r)

    Gysberts - ?

    Tapscott - ?

    Gawn - Big F##ker

    Fitzpatrick - ?

Gawn has to be 'Fishing' doesn't he

    Or unit?

You can have so much fun with this big bastard! Hopefully a cult figure that can really play!

  9. Please note that Fitzpatrick is more a forward than a ruckman, and from the limited footage I've seen, Gawn can mark and kick a footy, so there is nothing to suggest either of these won't become a multi-dimensional tall.

We went with what we believed was best available. You can't dispute that.

    Nobody wants another Luke Molan!

    Well said.

They obviously wanted Gysberts and were ruthless on best available. Welcome Jordan to the MFC. May you be a 250 game champion, and a favourite of all.

They would have known he would have been available at 11 from a long way out

I get the feeling that this pick will be the making... or breaking, of BP's reptuation.

  10. Watts is going to be fine. His first three games are far better than any of the star forwards currently playing. He performed exactly as anyone with an ounce of common sense would have expected, showed a couple of glimpses and kicked a couple of goals. Now that he's old enough to drink we might expect a little more of him in the next couple of years.

Exactly, and if he hadn't played any games in the AFL last year, no-one would be writing him off. Those 3 games were a bonus. he will learn a lot next season. He will be very good the year after and in 2012... sign me up

  11. Your the only one with Jurrah at full forward. I really like this idea. Let him play one out in the square, great on the lead, in the air and on the ground.

    Makes sense to me.

    FB. Garland Warnock Bennell

    HB. Rivers Frawley Grimes

    C. Trengove Moloney Morton

    HF. Sylvia Bate Watts

    FF. Jurrah Green Woenamirri

    R. Jamar Jones Scully

    IC. Bruce McDonald Petterd Martin

It's getting very hard to leave players out!

  12. ah, yes I posted this in the"Brock has left the building" thread, but I think it is of value enough to have it's own:

    SEN Brock Interview:

Really important listen for MFC members.

    http://www.sportsentral.com/pro/main/Podcasts.aspx

Click on Morning Glory and then 'Brock Mclean Tells..."

My dream scenario is Melbourne beating Carlton in a premiershpi with Brock looking on in despair.

Brock McLean - the man who wanted to lead our club, but whenever was given the opportunity, went missing.

    Carlton can have him.

Jimmy Bartel tagged Lenny Hayes in the GF. Is he walking out on his club... no because he did what the team and the club required of him.

Perhaps Brock, if you could run 100m in under 15 seconds and kicked it to our forwards on the full, they would have given you a more creative roll.

    Anyways, no hard feelings

  13. I do not believe this.

Although now money bags is dead he might not be getting all the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

he thought he was going to get :)

Judd will only play for a club that can double his salary from environmentally ambassadorial ventures. he's ALL about the money, and won't be going anywhere.

I wish him and Carltank every failureQ!

  14. *Imagine Indiana Jones leaping across the giant gorge at the end of Indiana Jones and the last Crusade*

... Ok. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. In 2007 when we traded Tigger, we obviously knew what we were getting with Jack Grimes. No-one would begrudge that trade right now.

Surely... Surely... We know precisely what we are going to do with this pick, and he's going to be a 200 game superstar, etc et. and no-one will regret this decision.

Strategically, it makes sense... at the moment. There isn't room for McLean, Jones, Moloney in the 1 midfield. We need a key forward and a ruckman, so we are positioning ourselves well.

Carlton doesn't need midfielders; they need a sober forward. Stupid decision on their behalf. Hawthorn doesn't need a silky midfielder... they need key position backs.

At least we are moving on a player type we have an abundance of, and hopefully bringing in something special to replace.

Clause a) Please PLEASE don't be a repeat of Daniel Bell

(Indiana Jones reference is akin to the faith I'm putting in our football department...)

And... Brock... I actually love you and wish you all the best. But for F&^# sakes... CARLTON. Ah it hurts too much.

  15. I would definately consider trading pick 2 for Boak.

For the most part, ex first round draft picks from interstate clubs are like new cars. The second you wheel them out of the draft room, they instantly lose value. Especially when the people you are dealing with have pick 1 in the PSD.

We wouldn't have to trade pick 2 to get Boak, and wouldn't bother doing it anyway

  16. Jurrah's had a break out year for the MFC, and has clearly earnt a number change.

    should he change? what to?

i hope he dosen't, he could be the best no. 48 the AFL has ever seen.

In 15 years time, I hope we will be talking about up and coming potential stars and saying... I think we should give them number 48!
