  1. If there is an elephant in the room then he probably bears a remarkable resemblance to Vlad. After all, he's supposed to be running the show at the MFC through his surrogate PJ the appointed CEO of the club. That being the case, if there is a connection as alleged in the OP between Dank and Craig and Misson, it would surely represent a massive failure in corporate governance on the part of our AFL masters for making Craig the head coach after Neeld's departure and indeed for simply keeping them on the payroll. On that basis, you would have to accept PJ's word that there's absolutely nothing to worry about. Dr. Bate was on a frolic of his own when dealing with Dank.
  2. Time to start it, I suppose. So far its been good with Jesse Hogan kicking 6 at Casey Fields and a few others finding some form. Guess it will be off to the G soon ...
  3. Interesting that Cam Pedersen has been included in Casey's team but James Sellar is out. I suspect that means Sellar will play tonight against the Dogs in place of Chris Dawes. B: Panozza Pedersen J Tynan HB: Strauss Gillies L Tynan C: Barry Couch Bail HF: Jetta Best Tapscott F: Davis Hogan Magner Foll: Hill Nicholls Gent IC: Drew* Petropoulas Pollard Smith Taggert * 23rd player
  4. This is the Robinson article and it seems that ASADA is quite definitive on the issue of whether the substance Watson has admitted to taking is illegal. If that's the case and Watson admits he took it why are there no charges and how can the AFL allow him to continue to play? Why the silence and how is it possible that Essendon appears to be so confident that its players will escape sanction? Read ASADA has confirmed that banned drug AOD-9604 is prohibited under any circumstances
  5. Looks like I have plenty of viewing to catch up on with the Foxtel IQ. 6. Let's leave Bomber at the Bombers.
  7. Just for the record, Dennis Jones coached Melbourne in 1978, not 1976 but what difference does a year or two make in the history of a club like ours?
  8. Nothing to see here, look away. If we were guilty of taking banned substances our boys would be playing like Jobe Watson and the Bombers. The reality is that they're playing worse than when they were allegedly tanking which proves that all they were taking was placebos that don't work.
  9. Sorry, didn't realise you were a queen.
  10. Oh, and I thought we'd adopted the "no d1ckheads policy" around here!
  11. Any deal they might do with the AFL would cover such a contingency.
  12. I suspect that the other clubs might warm to this if they see some talent at the Under 18 championships (which continue today) and who fit in the mini draft category. Based on the form of Jaeger O'Meara at the Suns, to a lesser extent Brad Crouch at Adelaide and the tantalising prospects of Jack Martin and Jesse Hogan, we can expect some clubs preferring to wait a year for a sure fire talent and trade combinations of picks and players to get them. Apologies in advance for not bringing up the banana theme but I have yet to check the Queensland lists for any up and coming young bananabenders whose families breed alpacas.
  13. The first of this selection of AFL PROSPECTUS top 25 is a small outside midfielder from the Dandenong Stingrays. Billy Hartung (Dandenong U18) 176cm, midfielder plays like Marc Murphy SA are the favourites in the Under 18 championships. The prospectus highlights a key forward who plays like a Geelong defender? I'd like to see that! Darcy Hourigan (South Adelaide, SA) 190cm, key forward plays like Tom Lonergan This player is the son of a champion past player with North Melbourne and reputed to be the most skillful player in this year's batch of players Josh Kelly (Sandringham U18) 180cm midfielder plays like Nick Dal Santo TO BE CONTINUED
  14. For the record, results of last weekend's Division 2 games:- U18 gun: young Neagle kicks six for NSW/ACT Ruckman stars as Tassie secures U18 win
  15. Jones was highlighted in a brief segment on TAC Future Stars last week. I'm not a fan of coming to conclusions based on a few brief grabs of vision but he's not as chunky as his bro and has hair. Can we cope with a third Jones on the list? It would make life difficult for some commentators.

  17. The Oracle has something to say about this in his match preview this week.
  18. I had a discussion a couple of days ago with a lawyer who has an interest in this particular part of the law and he was of the view that seemed in accord with 2 above but only in certain cases where a medical practitioner prescribes a formulation to deal with a medical complaint and AOD9064 is used as part of that formula and prepared by a compounding chemist. If that's what was applied as part of a cream prescribed by the club doctor for Jack Trengrove, this was not illegal. It's a different thing in his view, if the substance was directly injected as it was apparently done by Essendon. However, the Bombers argument might well be along these lines - AFL code gives Watson a way out
  19. Thanks all for your good wishes. That makes 6 grandkids. Three girls and three boys, the CHF, ruckman and now, this one's going to be a wingman - a bit like Robbie Flower but better eyesight. Watch out for them in the drafts of 2022, 2024 and 2031. Oh, and he has a Demons footy by his bedside personally autographed by Mark Neeld, Tim Harrington, Don McLardy. And, unlike some at the MFC, he's never experienced a Demon defeat.
  20. I think we can safely rule out Bill Stephen, Ken Judge and Wayne Brittain as well.
  21. Correction. I said that if the fact that four different football department members had to answer to Cameron Schwab was the reason for the club's problems and alleged dysfunctionality then would not the director in charge of football also be responsible for that failing and therefore would his continued role on the board be justified?
  22. Continuing the AFL PROSPECTUS top 25 potential draftees for 2013 with a late blooming midfielder from last year's TAC Cup premiers. Trent Cutler (Oakleigh U18) 189cm, midfielder plays like Brendon Goddard This player impressed at last year's National Under 18 championships and returns as part of SA's strong squad in 2013.Trent Dumont (Norwood) 184 cm, midfielder plays like Sam Mitchell The AFL PROSPECTUS says he plays like Jobe Watson. Is he the midfielder the Demons need in this draft?Luke Dunstan (Eagles, SA) 184cm, midfielder, plays like Jobe Watson Next up a key defender but he's just 190cm.Darcy Gardiner (Geelong U18) 190cm, key defender, plays like Lachie Henderson TO BE CONTINUED
  23. The players can never be clear under the prevailing rules once they ingest a banned substance unless they do so without giving their consent such as when the player is unconscious at the time (the only example to date of an athlete beating the rap). Fraud might be another defence but that's probably drawing a long bow.Watson should not play this weekend. The reasons for suspending him pending the outcome of a final hearing into the charges are more compelling than in the Milne case.
  24. The Jed Anderson deal was announced after the deal which involved Dom Barry and given that Anderson had All Australian Under 18 honours under his belt and was far more advanced with his football, he came at a higher "price". In all likelihood, Anderson was not able to be worked into the arrangement that GWS arrived at with Melbourne.
  25. How does Greg Healy keep his position on the board? He's the football director and the major criticism of Cameron Schwab coming from PJ is that there were four football department people answerable to him. I understand that being a problem of style with PJ, that he's not comfortable with that and it doesn't work for him, but if its a bad thing then surely the football director should have been on top of it and if it's a measure of dysfunctionality at the club then surely Healy should be the first to go after McLardy?
