I based that comment on a post you put up on Demonology which was subsequently taken down.

Don't give up your day job if you ever decide to be a stand up comic Bob.

It seems to me that the new ownership believe that their site should exist to support the club and, in order to so, there should be no negative content. If that's the case, its a misguided view which will ultimately become self-defeating. It's a forum and its users go to express their views there on a regular basis - it's part of their lives and shouldn't be taken away from them. There are moves afoot to restore Demonology to what it was before yesterday. As a Demonology member, I support them.

The Sydney Swans have made my weekend. It was just fantastic to watch their players run rings around Carlton's much vaunted midfield. When you look at the debate raging around our own inadequate midfield division it's worth considering that those Swans players who dominated last night were not, by and large, top 10 draft picks but they were instead turned into top 10 running midfielders by a very solid development system and we now have the coach who has in his hands, the keys to turning ours into something like that.

Not what I heard. The only part of the conversation that remotely related to football was the discussion about whether Ed Lower was going to be evicted from Big Brother. Watching the Swans tonight made me realise how fundamental the Roos succession plan is to his tenure at our club. Last year's premiership team was coached by a Roos disciple in Longmire and with the Swans playing Freo (Ross Lyon) in the preliminary final next week, there's sure to be one Roos disciple coaching a team in this year's grand final. I don't even care about the so called negative style Roos was supposed to have brought to the game back then which caused criticism from Vlad. I always admired it and back then Daniher struggled with the Swans' game plan. Bring it on.

Turning up at my place tonight at ½ time and refusing to watch the game because you were taping it at home is what I call "bringing the game into disrepute". I hope you enjoyed chatting with the wives and gossiping over a cup of tea while the real men had the pleasure of watching Carlton getting pantsed.

That's utter rubbish. The only involvement we've had with Demonology is that we've tried to help when it was off the air for several months last year and I arranged for an interested party not connected with the current group to be introduced to Tim Stanes. Other than that we've been involved in player sponsorships and inter forum footy games.

Not the jaguar animal - the car. Pontius Pilate's uncle had a dealership. The Jewels were the lingerie league franchise in those days.

Thanks for that CFH. It means one more win and they've already matched the Demons' season.

You guys are tough judges. Jared Rivers got 6 touches last night and was subbed off. I thought he was "poor". Wines picked up 14 possessions, 12 of them contested. Not his best - not great, but a fair effort from an 18 year old in a beaten side.

You reckon? The Jerusalem Jaguars didn't win a game between 32AD and 53AD which was the year that Judas passed on. You think that was a coincidence?
-
I agree with much of what you say but I wouldn't say his game last night was "poor". It simply wasn't at the same high standard as the previous week and in his better games. Last night he was exposed to far greater pressure from Geelong in a finals game than at any time during the season. That said, because he was in a much poorer team this year, Jimmy Toumpas was constantly under great pressure whenever he played. I'm sure he'll get better in time.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Whispering_Jack replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree that there are different and possibly better ways to approach drugs and doping but the AFL has handed enforcement of policy re performance enhancing drugs to a higher authority which primarily cares not about an approach from a medical POV or the user, other than to catch out and sanction. And on what I've heard about its policy on recreational drugs the AFL seems only to pay lip service to rehabilitation. -
If you're a mod over there, you're needed urgently. I don't think Smithy would be involved in those shenanigans.

You reckon he's "sexy"? Er ... I'm referring to you and not your avatar.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Whispering_Jack replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
We're talking of two different types of drug use although there is some overlap. The three strikes policy deals more with social or party drugs and the WADA code deals with the performance enhancing side of the drug scene (which covers masking agents and untested substances). Both can be lethal and, in fact, in the Roy Masters interview on The Back Page above, Masters alluded to a comment made to him by the head of the ACC John Lawler, to the effect that on the basis of their knowledge, they were frightened by the possibility that we were close to the first death of an athlete through doping which was spinning out of control (I think there's a strong possibility that many deaths have taken place around the world and possibility in this country - certainly among body builders). Both issues certainly warrant political intervention but I agree the heavy handed populist brand is not necessarily the right way to go. -
10 signs for spotting a sociopath - Strangely enough, whilst I think that description might match many people in the world of football and even posters on this site, I'm not sure that it does match Mark Neeld. I think he was more a case of someone who was promoted as being a potential AFL coach but when the crunch came, he was simply out of his depth. Likewise Bailey. Neale Daniher could definitely coach in his day but stayed on for too long. In truth, apart from the early days of Daniher and the Northey era, we haven't had more than a half decent coach for close to 50 years.

But if we did indeed break the rules, we would have done so in 2009 and have already been sanctioned for doing so. If we don't get draft assistance in 2013 then CC will have told those jokes in vain and a great Zulu curse will be visited on the AFL and every club which voiced a negative view on the subject.

Just to demonstrate the insidious corrupting influence of the Carlton Football Club, today is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Its central theme is atonement and repentance and Jews traditionally observe the day with fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services. You can't travel by motor vehicle or airplane, use electric power or watch television. Despite this, I know of several Jewish Carlton supporters who have gone to Sydney to watch their team play in tonight's semi final. Such apostasy is untenable and must be dealt with by those of high holy standing. There has to be a pestilence and nine other plagues visited on the Carlton Football Club before the end of the day. If we all will it and pray heartily for it to come about, it can happen ... and you don't even have to be Jewish to help contribute to their downfall.

He's not a bad boy. He just gets naughty from time to time. In fact, a package deal including Shaw crossing over with Didak could introduce the young impressionable lads at the club to the cultural mores of the Geebung Polo Club and other similar fine establishments. Seriously though, we've seen enough of Shaw to understand why Bucks needs to rid himself of this element.

I actually do love this time of year but we really need someone like Chilliboy to come back with some of his outrageous, far-fetched and unlikely trades. The stuff being put forward around here is simply mundane.

I'm sceptical and here's the reason why. I was at the Frankston v Casey Scorpions game at Frankston about a month ago and he was in Frankston's best players. Problem is that he was playing in the development league game and not the seniors. Sorry, but if you're not getting a game in the ones for a non finals team at VFL level at that age, its highly unlikely you're going to make the grade.

A little while ago I was approached by a poster who wanted to be put into contact with Demonology's owner about the prospect of revitalising the site. I would be mortified if that person is now the owner and has put irresponsible people in charge of its administration and moderation. Looking at the site however, I've not seen evidence of this taking place although I do see that quite a few posters who have been banned on here find themselves new homes over there. I hope the change of ownership proves not to be true. I like some of the robust discussion that goes on there from time to time.

That's well put and it's what should give us some confidence about Roos' ability to get us moving forward and at a reasonable pace over the next two years.
