  1. Dunno about the funny cigarette stuff but you can forget about Mr Leg. Last I heard, they said he was deported from Columbia and is steaming towards Miami where he has an assignation with the Department of Homeland Security on our Queens Birthday. Redleg might consider himself red and blue through and through but by the time those boys get through with him, black and blue might be a more apt description.
  2. Long way from Bogata to Cartagena which is on the coast. I know someone who runs a banana boat up river who is very reliable and claims to have a cousin in something they call "the cartel" who might be able to assist. The contents of the boat would satisfy readers of this thread at least until after the bye.
  3. While I don't believe in rushing players, I also think that the right time to strike is while the iron's hot. ANB has continued to put in consecutive high quality performances at Casey and must be in the mix. The only misgiving I have is the question of balancing the midfield with the strong ball winning types and those with pace and in this regard we're suffering to an extent from not having Kent and JKH at the moment and Stretch being probably a season away from the football maturity to be a regular at this level. However, if these blokes can kick on next year and Petracca recovers fully from his ACL, we look like being healthier in the midfield than we have been for some time.
  4. I agree that it was Starc who ripped them apart in the end but it's a weak tail and credit is due to the entire bowling attack and the fielding. It's interesting that the West Indies' 7th wicket fell off the last ball of a Nathan Lyon over - the 80th of their second innings. The new ball was taken immediately and Johnson bowled a maiden to Holder. The new man Taylor was watching this rather uncomfortably from the bowler's end and was out lbw to Starc first ball of the next. I don't think he could get off the ground quickly enough. A couple of overs later and it was all over with Starc taking consecutive wickets off his last two balls. I think there's always been some controversy about this but am I right in saying that Starc is on a hat trick even though his next over is in a different test?
  5. I'm whispering that while it's very sad for Judd to cop an injury like this one, I would prefer not to see him at the club. I don't really like him and I don't like the way he conducted himself when he came across from West Coast to Victoria. He treated our club with disdain with the way in which he deigned to give the club an audience as one of his four preferred clubs when in fact, it appeared that he had already made his decision. Moreover, I don't believe his personality is suited to a role at a young club like ours.
  6. Forward line?He can literally play anywhere including in midfield where at 192cm he could be a sensation.
  7. SA's Aaron Francis is the bolter for a top three draft spot. He's had two BOG's in a row at the carnival and looks like a really versatile player who can take up most positions on the ground which makes him a very attractive proposition for most clubs. U18s: Francis leads SA to big win over WA SOUTH AUSTRALIA 4.2 10.7 14.11 18.15 (123) WESTERN AUSTRALIA 2.2 2.3 6.5 7.8 (50) GOALS South Australia: Francis 4, Brind 3, Allen 3, Partington 2, Haysman, Bonner, Nunn, Olekains, Markov, Redman Western Australia: Clark, Mirco, Ridley, Zurhaar, Petrevski-Seton, Strnadica, Ehlers BEST South Australia: Francis, Brind, Parella, Partington, Snelling, Surman Western Australia: Mountford, Zurhaar, Watson, Harrold, Ah Chee, M.Taylor
  8. It's not only that but there's no pressure to squeeze these young up and comers into the senior team immediately which is a result of our recruiting more mature aged players who have had first dibs at team selection so far this year. I'm expecting ANB to get two or three games very soon in the same way that Stretch got a couple of runs a few weeks ago. Whatever the case, things are looking up for our midfield ... and then there's Petracca.
  9. Surely that's not your best shot?
  10. For the kid to get 34 disposals at this level is outstanding. I think Jimmy Magner got more than 50 touches in his final year but that was against the now defunct Bendigo Gold in a 100 point plus whipping *For those who don't know about him, he's one of those hard nosed midfield extractors who goes well at the clearances. He might come in handy when he's ready (which shouldn't be too far off). * yes, I know I'm setting myself up for a comeback from BBO
  11. All sewn up thanks to me. Woke up just in time to see the Windies lose their fourth wicket and from there they were skittled out by the Aussie attack. Deficit of 47 wiped out in no time for the loss of Warner. Big win to NSW Australia.
  12. If you're out there RL, try convincing the ship's captain to change course and steer towards Dominica. You might just catch the end of the First Test with the Aussies headed for victory. If all of the passengers and crew head for the ground at Roseau, the attendance should be quadrupled.

  14. Adam Voges becomes the oldest man to score a test century on debut - congrats
  15. Interesting to see Dom Tyson at Casey.
  16. Apparently, there's a Saturday morning session this week which won't include the Casey boys who are playing that day.
  17. Based on the Windies batting performance in the first innings, I'm wondering about the opening post to this thread. Chanderpaul would have surely lasted a bit longer than some of their current line up?

  20. I think it's good thinking on the part of the club and gives him ample time to recover, even well into next year's preseason and the season proper. It also sets an example to others at the club of what can happen if you get injured at the club. Well done.
