Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
This situation definitely has some similarities to both the Mitchel Hawthorn takeover and the McRae Collingwood takeover. Both clubs had: long-running coaches who moved/were moved along, with a new first-time coach coming in. had old, outdated game plans that frustrated their fans Recent success with their current list Then, when the new coach comes in: High-paid players were moved out (Collingwood: Grundy and Trelor, Hawthorn: Omera and Mitchell) Although saying this, I believe Trac and Clarry are a different level of player, even if their past two years have been down A promise of a fast, modern game plan was made Obviously, there are many differences in our situation, but I'm personally quite bullish on what this could bring about Clarry has been my favourite player since that GWS Debut. So seeing him in another team's colours won't feel right But I very much could see us playing some high-end footy in the back end of next year, with the first half being an adjustment period for the new game plan

King has clearly been watching Casey all year, and he knows we have Lachie Neale 2.0 just waiting in the wings

Absolute genius move from Guerra to set up a fake meeting with Clarry to find out who's leaking info to the media I fully expect an interview with Guerra, King, and Clarry in the next hour, saying he's pumped for a new season under King. (I'm not trying to cope, I don't know what you're talking about)

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
I've seen some of the media personnel try to paint a picture on our salary cap, with the figures for all our players constantly changing. For example, in this article it states that "right now, Clayton Oliver’s on $1.7m through to 2030, Christian Petracca really similar." https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-trade-news-rumours-2025-melbourne-demons-offer-kysaiah-pickett-sevenyear-contract-extension-ross-lyon-comments-on-nasiah-wanganeenmilera-future-latest-news/news-story/25d2f4f23776b176f533875d820806f3 While the articles when both of these players signed are completely different, with them both estimating that they signed for $1m a year or less. Clarry: https://www.afl.com.au/news/789697/demon-for-life-clayton-oliver-signs-massive-contract-extension Trac: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-news-2021-christian-petracca-contract-melbourne-free-agent-new-deal-net-worth-how-much-money/news-story/916d148703bf5e714f4db9911e2666aa Really goes to show how the media has no idea how much the players are being paid and how the contracts are structured; they're just pulling numbers out of thin air.

Welcome to Demonland: Aidan Johnson
I reckon the FD want to try him up forward but think he can move into defence. Seems to have a very similar athletic profile to Steven May like others have said, at pick 68 you’re always going to take someone speculative, so in JT we trust.

2024 Phantom Drafts
Dan Gorringe had Dylan Alexander on his podcast earlier today (I believe that some of his phantom drafts have been posted on this thread. The bloke seems very knowledgeable in terms of draft prospects.) He has us taking Jagga Smith with our first pick, and Harvey Langford sliding to our second pick (because of his lack of pace). Highly doubt this happens, but it would be almost the perfect result.
