  1. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Carlton fans deserve everything they get. The way those d*ckheads celebrated winning meaningless pre season matches worth ZERO points was embarassing. The best feeling is seeing all hope dissolve right in front of their very eyes after just 1 match. Richmond. Complete the job next week!
  2. Hopefully Curnow and Swans do a number on Carlton and Collingwood likewise. If given the choice between Collingwood and Geelong never not make finals over the next 10 years over StKilda and Carlton ever seeing success, Iโ€™ll take the former. St Kilda and Carlton making a massive thud back down to earth will be absolutely glorious. The pre season commentary surrounding these two clubs has been nauseating. What have they achieved? St Kilda fans deserve their current drought
  3. Was self reflecting as I was taking a shower about the past and how those who we all grew up with are slowly passing away, whether it be a beloved movie/tv star like Robert Carradine or a national sports commentating hero like Dennis Commetti, the past is the past and we wonโ€™t ever get it back again. Even playing through Resident Evil: Requiem, the newest game in the series that featured Leon Kennedy, a protagonist who made his debut in the late 90โ€™s, to see him at 51 years of age as a character and thinking about the past and my childhood and how I grew up with this character, it was emotional. We all get 1 life and for the rest of our lives, we wont ever hear or see from Dennis again. Canโ€™t imagine how Bruce is feeling being his long time side kick. This is a loss that Iโ€™m feeling quite a bit, tbh..
  4. Those dumb fcks down at Princes Park are celebrating like they won the flag. May as well build Jagger Smith an MCG statue while weโ€™re at it considering the carrying on. The best feeling is reading Carlton Bigfooty after positive pre season cheers only to fold when the real things rolls around. Sydney, Curnow and Richmond. Do us all a favor! ๐Ÿ˜‚
  5. Didnโ€™t watch the match initially, but decided to watch the replay in its entirety to escape the dreadful sight that is Tottenham. Despite being a pre season match, there are always genuine things you can take out of practice matches. In the โ€˜21 pre season match against the Dogs, we saw a first glimpse into what a fully fit Steven May would be capable of and he dominated that match with something like 25 possessions and 10 marks, looked really good in terms of fitting into the team structure and was a true sign of what was to come. If this is a sign of how we play, we can shock a lot of โ€œexpertsโ€. Howes looked incredibly strong, moving well, Latrelle is just an exciting watch and can form a dangerous and underrated partnership with Chandler. Latrelle had been building for quite some time and not being drafted as a teenager, he could explode in his first AFL season. I feel we have a lot of untapped talent/potential on paper that we didnโ€™t truly see due to Goodwinโ€™s more restrictive game style and circumstance. Hopefully someone like Chandler will be given the license to just play instead of worrying about being a defensive pivot. All in all, really liked what I saw and re-affirmed my optimism in 2026.
  6. Selfishly, for the sake of my sanity and mental health. Watching Tottenham this season has bled eyes dry. Inability to string together passes, lack of forward threat, favortism, if it weren't for injuries, the usual sub players like Odobert wouldnโ€™t see much game timeโ€ฆ in a sense, very similar to Melbourne post the flag. Simultaneously watching Melbourne and Tottenham over the last few years is seriously tough viewing. Iโ€™m just hoping King brings back a sense of identity and confidence back to the club. Iโ€™m personally also expecting a rise back into finals contention, but all I want to see is a succinct method again. Win or lose, just want to see progress week to week, match to match.
  7. Every season โ€œexpertsโ€ like Dwayne Russell gets things wrong all the time. As a tennis fan, I see this so often. Back in 2023, Just analyzing their lead up and form and what they did in 2022, I was only one of a few who tipped Rybakina and Alcaraz to win Indian Wells. A lot of โ€œexpertsโ€ got it wrong and I capitalized. In the same vein, I wholeheartedly believe we still have the list to compete and with luck and a system that suits our players, I believe we can shock a lot of people. I firmly believe we can have a sharp rise. I even put my money where my mouth is. A lot of the media these days is sheep follow sheep, incapable of critical thinking, searching for the instant clicks. Melbourne are not that bad. I have a feeling we are in for a top 6 tilt. May and Lever as examples, looked average for the most part of last season not because they are finished as players, but because of system. The midfield was diabolical and that builds pressure on the defense. Steven King, I trust that bloke.
  8. Season is almost hereโ€ฆ. Tottenham are pissing me off massively. Canโ€™t watch anymore of that rubbish. Yearning for the footy to start! Doesnโ€™t matter if itโ€™s pre seasonโ€ฆ just want to watch the Dees.
  9. Schwarz is my all time favorite player, but itโ€™s a bit silly trying to predict. โ€œExpertsโ€ didnโ€™t even come close to tipping Collingwood to bounce back in โ€˜22 under a new coach. https://www.afl.com.au/news/717215/crystal-ball-our-predictions-for-the-2022-afl-season-are-in I am optimistic we can push for finals (top 8). Defense, on paper is still extremely strong. May had a pretty underrated 2025 season and that Geelong game stands out forefront of mind. Lever coming back from injury under a new system that would for sure look to protect the back 6 a lot more than it had over the last 2 seasons would be a priority for King and the coaching staff. On top of having the likes of Turner, McDonald, AMW, Salem as added support, itโ€™s still a pretty solid backline. Xavier Taylor is looking good for round 1. Midfield is ok, BUT a lot of players like Rivers previously couldnโ€™t get a look in due to the lack of opportunity with Trac and Oliver hogging the middle, we just donโ€™t know how good they can be. Same goes for the forward line. Fritsch, JVR, Mihochek as targets with Pickett, Chandler and even Sparrow (who can be reinvented as a defensive forward) crumbing, there is enough forward threat. Just comparing some players pound for pound with that 2022 Collingwood side: Sidebottom = Langdon N. Daicos = Langford Mihochek = JVR Moore = Lever De Goey = Rivers Hill = K. Pickett Ash Johnson = Fritsch Maynard = Howes WHE = Melksham (if fit) Elliot = Chandler, mid sized forward, can take a mark and great pressure player Crisp = Sparrow Howe = Petty Quaynor = Salem McCreery = Windsor I trust King can turn the likes of Petty, Rivers and Langford into superstars and turning the likes of Howes, Sparrow and Chandler into extremely good role players. JVR doesnโ€™t even need to kick 50. If he and Mihochek can kick 80 between them, that would set us up for a big season.
  10. Well said. Hindisght is 20/20. Lucas Cook was the prime example of this. In 2010, he was named AA CHF amongst names like Treloar, Libretore, May, Heppell and Gaff and was likened to Nick Riewoldt. A player of his ilk was a clear necessity at the time of his drafting. There are a lot of variables and sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss. Itโ€™s part and parcel. Even someone as good as Jason Taylor has had misses on top of his unbelievable scouting and drafting record.
  11. First it was Halloween, then it was the invasion of American fast food chains, then it was the change in scorecard graphics by Channel 7 and Fox to mimick the NFL and now this. Not to mention Gen Z cousins of mine are now using words like โ€œcandyโ€ and โ€œbiscuitsโ€ instead of lolly and scones. Really hate how Americanized and how obsessed this used to be great nation of ours is so obsessed with the Yanks. AFL is a game of attrition similar to football/soccer where squad management is a major skill. You must predict in a sense and have foresight to fill any holes that may arise during the season. List management is one of the most underrated skill in the game. Having a "top 10" diminishes this quite a bit. Not a fan. Imagine being Gold Coast who finished 7th in 2025 (60pts) getting knocked out by 10th placed Sydney (48pts) a side who rallied late in the season and in some really good form. Just doesn't seem right when you compare the body of work Gold Coast had done opposed to Sydney.
  12. With regards to next season and beyond Iโ€™ll just leave this hereโ€ฆ No one can predict jack. Not the media, not anyone. Brisbane were $81 for the flag and out of the gate in round 1 smashed the reigning premiers. I still believe we have a capable list with extraordinary talent and so many players who can now now show their true potential when it comes to the midfield. Donโ€™t think we can come close to winning the flag, but we can make finals. Melbourne is living proof across 21-25 that talent alone isnโ€™t enough. With a new direction, I believe we can prove duds like Sam Maclure wrong in 2026, hence building towards another flag in quick time. I believe in the list and the new look club.
  13. Come onโ€ฆ the everyday layman suffers worse than these $300k average wage footballers who often travel or stay overseas, away from loved ones for long periods of times. Commodity traders as an example, travel so often that they can go 5-6 months away from their home country. My mate is Global Business Development Manager for a service company and only has a chance to visit family and friends in Australia 2 months a year. McVee canโ€™t survive domestic 3-4 hour flights? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ
  14. Please to GWS. If he is to come good again be good at GWS. Would hate to go up against a prime (or close enough) again Oliver wanting to prove the club wrong on Kings Birthday and rack up 35 disposals, 80% efficiency, 5 scoring involvements and a goal. Would legitimately be vomit inducing.
  15. If we can get Humphrey, it would legitimately have potential to be the equivalent of Salah to Liverpool for 35 million pounds. Absolute Bargain
  16. Actually, on paper the team itself still has enough quality and players like Rivers who can really breakout to cause enough of a threat to potentially make the 8 with luck and proper in season management of players. We may not contend in the sense of the top 4, but can fall into 7th to 8th. Defense: Turner, Lever, McDonald, Bowey, AWM (if ready to go), Petty, Howes.. Mid: Viney (seriously underrated ball winner still although disposal is rubbish at times), Rivers, Langford, Langdon, Lindsay, Windsor, Pickett, Culley Fwd: JVR, Chandler, Fritsch, Michoek- seriously smart player who is a good contested player, but at worst, heโ€™s foil for JVR and bringing ball to ground for the likes of Chandler and Pickett to crumb. Sparrow is the other who can really get back to his best under a new setup as his defensive ability like tackling is still pretty good. I expect us to miss again, but I also cannot help but feel we can also get a new coach bounce and stay alive for finals late into the season.
  17. Whinges and cries about our small crowd sizes (even though itโ€™s not true according to the home crowd tables over the last 2-3 years) and chooses Gold Coastโ€ฆ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคก โ€ฆWhat a clownโ€ฆ
  18. Was fairly confident about next year in spite of Petracca certain to leave, but if the Oliver reports are true, Iโ€™ll have to re-assess expectations. Canโ€™t be losing May, Trac and Oliver and expect to rebound and contend, let alone a top 6 finish. Oliver especially has shown he is still capable and with a full pre season, he can play top level footy again in 2026. In saying that, the kids on the list are really good. As long as there is a clear direction and pathway forward, fans can cop another season without finals.
  19. Wish Trac all the best with his life and the injury he sustained, but letโ€™s remind ourselves that the grass isnโ€™t always greener (Ablett to Gold Coast and his incessant premiership talks, Deledio to GWS at the end of 2016, Fevola and Beams to Brisbane, Gibbs to Adelaide, Vickery yo Hawthorn..) But, good riddance to Petracca and I have full belief Guerra and Smith will lead this club really well and back towards the top end.
  20. Have strong belief in him. Underrated intercept abilities and decent kick. Panics under pressure, but really canโ€™t blame him in a side that wets the bed quite often, particularly in the midfield with little pressure applied. With McVee going back to WA, Howes will get plenty of chances under a new regime and a coach who can hopefully get him to become like a Connor Idun, a really good defender and undervalued player in the comp.
  21. Iโ€™d give anything to be as successful as them in terms of contending year in, year out.
  22. Why are neutrals even excited about this? When Dortmund won the Bundesliga back to back across 2009 to 2012 it was exciting. Since then, Bayern went on to win 11 titles in a row before Leverkusen broke the duck. Either way, we lose. Dangerfield 2x premiership winner or Zorko tasting success in successive years. Still canโ€™t believe Adelaide let this chance slip.. Absolute snooze fest. ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด We had both these sides on toast in โ€˜21 and never came close to replicating that dominance again.
  23. See, the thing about this is, why Mihochek when someone like Caminiti is 10 years younger with a lot of upside and similar playstyle who is apparently on the trade table. Can also play both ends which is enticing Collingwood to try to bring him in. JVR is coming into season 5 and if he were to ever truly breakout and become the player we hope he can be then this is it. I would be backing him to strive as the number 1 under a new system that promises to be more attacking and free flowing. We were never signing Oscar Allen, but it would be nice to see the club be floated around more. Since the flag, the names we have bought in have been extremely underwhelming.
  24. Nah, [censored] that. Brisbane 3 Grand Finals in a row with a stacked list with Allen, Draper and MAYBE Ridley to come in. Still salty about how we arguably made them believe again after having them on toast in terms of past match ups and squandering so many chances in that Semi Final. At least if Collingwood made it, you can at least accept the cliff is fast coming for their list and can take solace in knowing this could be their last chance. Brisbane however, will contend for the next 5+ years.
