  1. Bye ANB. I look forward to watching you turn it over at the Crows next year (while convenently ignoring all the great things you do).

I would rate Lever and May above any player being traded this year, Houston included. Langdon, Melksham and Hibberd are up there with any of the other players who have already moved or are talking about moving in trade or free agency this year. My point being that the available players this year are pretty poor. Perryman, Cumming etc, nice to have but nothing amazing. We were never a chance at the WA returners so they are ignored from the discussion. While we're not getting much, we're not missing out on much.
  3. Sam Taylor was drafted at pick 28 in 2017. Neal-Bullen himself was pick 40. Weirdly, pick 40 has a strong history. Average of 92.5 games played, the next pick with a higher average is pick 19. Some absolute stars: Matthew Lappin Michael O'Loughlin Ablett Jnr Jobe Watson Josh Kennedy (Haw/Syd) Luke Parker Tom Stewart Plus others like Allen Christensen, Mitch Robinson, Chris Mayne, David Hille and Ivan Maric. Anyway. When is this trade going to happen? I don't get why they don't just pull the trigger from the moment the trade period starts, get things rolling...

Unfortunately I could see us losing to Collingwood again which sets off all the emotions of "here we go again". I think the AFL will go after another Round 1 attendance record and putting Hawks vs. Pies on a Friday night would be a good start. After all this trade [censored], Melbourne vs. Geelong at the MCG, Saturday 2.10, is what i'd like to see.
  5. Fritsch should've been one of the three finalists for AFL GOTY.

Every year there are fringe player swho wants to leave, but the clubs who hold them label them as a "required player". They always end up being traded, often on the last day and for late picks. It'll get done.
  7. How is he still CEO I just don't understand how he isn't being forced out
  8. Can't watch this. Consider what he meant and the current state of the club... sad and angry all at once.
  9. I hope he does get a game because we give Gawn a rest. 23 games is a long season for 30+ yo ruck to carry the burden.
  10. Battle, Cumming, Perryman, Haynes, Himmelberg and Campbell all might happen today. Graham might take a few more days. Only Battle, Cumming, Perryman and Graham are likely to have a significant impact on draft capital, and therefore trade period. Really curious about Battle whether it's first round of end of first round. Pick 8 for the Saints would be huge and IMO is exactly what they need.

Hopefully they are telling Pert and Goodwin to start looking around too

If we pay even a cent for Oliver to play elsewhere I'll be furious

Jhye Clark was drafted by Geelong to take over from Joel Selwood. Inside hard nut, two-way runner. I'd take either of the players drafted with their last two first round selections.

This makes me hate Trac even more. Doesn't like his behaviour but has no issue with the player, just the club? Makes no [censored] sense.

We absolutely need to find another top 15 pick in this draft

Go after Connor O'Sullivan. 19yo, 198cm defender, pick #11 in the 2023 draft. Currently he's not even the first reserve option at the Cats, SDK didn't play in the prelim, so O'Sullivan is a way down the pecking order. He can come to the Dees and learn from May and Lever, and would likely play next year. He'd be ready to go as our #1 defender when May is eventually done. Oliver -> O'Sullivan and Geelong's 2025 first.

Tuohy, Hawkins, Parfitt and their other delistings may have cleared up significant salary for next year. They also have a lot of other older players who will be coming off their deals and possibly retiring in the coming years. Deals can be structured to support the club, Smith and Oliver may have theirs front ended or back ended so the club can fit them in. Clubs can also just pay you more when they have a surplus at the end of the year. Say 5 players have a $100k performance bonus for making the All-Australian team but none of them make it. That's $500k the club could give to a player that year, and take it off a latter year of their contract. All legal and stuff clubs do.

How did it not leak earlier about Clarry at the Brownlow? He has to be the most watched player in the league in terms of off field behaviour, and there would easy be 1000 players, coaches, partners and media there. Surely someone would've said something earlier.

35, 53, future first, future second, future third. I'll take them all thanks Geelong. It's not enough but it'll have to do.
  20. This is terrible advice. What if Warner wants to stay in Sydney next year? What if West Coast shoot up the ladder next year and become a desirable destination? What if Andrew Brayshaw wants to go back to Victoria at the end of next year, which would then potential give Freo new capital to trade for Warner? You can't hope on a "maybe" in the future when you have the opportunity to gain guaranteed talent now. Bolton should immediately make them a finals team in 2025, while Kozzy should make them genuinely scary. Imagine if we never went after May, Lever or Langdon because Jeremy Cameron was speculated to become available sometime.

A decent contract extension would help. He has one year to run with players like Smith going to eat up cap space. Offer him three years frontloaded with Brayshaw money.

SDK? Left out of their prelim team.

Tell Geelong to [censored] off unless they can find two first round picks, and/or a gun young player. If they can't, come back next year. Keep Clarry instead of trading him for cheap.
  24. I have no idea of his coaching credentials but as a player and leader, ticks boxes.
  25. Ashcroft will likely go at pick 2. Brisbane will need 2014 draft points to bid on him after discounting. Let's say their academy player Marshall slides and gets bid on at 30. That's another 432 points needed after discounting. 2446 points needed. Brisbane will have 1228 points prior to trade and free agency so they'll need to find another 1218 points just for those two players... possibly more if Marshall gets an earlier bid or if Richmond bids on Ashcroft at #1. I'm honestly not sure how they get this done without giving up a lot of their 2025 draft capital, or trading someone out this year. As an example, our picks 37, 45, 50 and 61 are worth 1238 points. That would cover it, but only if we were trading them for 2025 picks. I assume Dylan Robertson will leave and they might get some points back there but will still be a long way off...
