  1. I pick the Hibberd 1-on-1 win, break away pace (at 31 or whatever he is, thank you very much), kick to Smith, kick to a contest (Roo holding free kick), wheel and Grundy mark + goal. 2nd is any of the numerous Jack Viney clearances.
  2. Having seen this footage, I've changed my opinion and am 100% ok with the Sicily suspension, as I am with all the others this round. I'd like to see some form of punishment or at least training mandated on these types of things introduced. Something like this: 1. Protecting yourself when heading into a contest; if the MRO finds a player guilty of a suspendible offence and the player who was infringed upon didn't show best-practice care to himself (insert definition of that here), then the infringed-upon player should also be held to account via retraining or even fines/suspension (I think some kind of mandatory 3rd party training on self-protection and suspended 1 match ban not impacting Brownlow elegibility) as a disincentive and/or retraining opportunity for them to avoid repeating the same behaviour in future
  3. That Sicily decision is honestly the absolute worst I've seen by a country mile, but the problem with these types of "stamp-outs" is they start out reasonable and then become more and more draconian through out the years until there's a new watershed moment and everything else is judged on that. I can recall feeling similarly shocked 20 years ago for bumps, and look where we are now - players don't bump. I think we're all kidding ourselves if we think the AFL is doing any of this for the good of the game. It's all an attempt to avoid potential litigation in future. If after every single tackle/bump injury they suspend the bloke who did it, they can always refer back in the inevitable class action and say "look, we suspended the player that caused the injury - what more do you want from us?"
  4. I would fear for my life if I came near this guy and he wished me ill:
  5. Oh Sam….
  6. When you watch Carlton you get no sense of a team playing together whatsoever.
  7. Say what you want about both these sides, but you would love to have Wright, Curnow or McKay in Dees colours.
  8. Another absolute smashing. Another absolute smashing nowhere near 186.
  9. So the 2022 Hawks must have gone pretty well huh?
  10. Port's flag to lose imo. They're (only just) the best side in the comp, with Collingwood in a close one at the G a probable better bet. Dees vs Port or Dees vs Pies would be a wonderful end to the footy season. Let's hope it happens.
  11. The way I saw it is teams with good disposal and/or leg speed kill us and the only time we can fight back is when it's monsoon season.
  12. When games like this Port/Hawks clobbering pop up, who else besides me spends the whole thing doing mental gymnastics to figure out how far off the pace of 186 the the game is? Invariably the likelihood of that margin being surpassed goes from slim to none pretty quickly. Man that was an atrocious sporting performance.
  13. Doesn't look like we've got much going on in the VFL despite winning. Jordan - we know what he brings. Brown - finished most likely. Woewodin and others - still just developing.
  14. Thanks - that's what I was aiming for. Not that it matters.
  15. Gonna go on record here. This is the biggest game MFC has played in 50 years that actually doesn't really mean anything. Pies by 25 but it doesn't, and I can't stress this enough, matter.
  16. My god why do we still start Friday night games at 10 minutes to midnight?
  17. This. I think ultimately our issues aren't to do with gameplan but personnel, in the sense that the boys on the park aren't getting it done like they did in 2021. There are coaching factors that play into that, but ultimately it's the 22 on the park that aren't good enough. Where are the towering Gawn marks? Where is the Langdon 1-2 defensive sweeper to forward thrust plays? Where is Salem's cutting ball use? Where is McDonald's up and back link play? Where is Brown? Where is Fritsch's incredible goalsense? Where where where, and etcetera?
  18. Players should start getting suspended on both ends of this action IMO. Hunter has an obligation to protect his opponent, and his action can be construed as a bump. But his opponent if he had acted exactly as Hunter did would not have been injured. Therefore suspend them both, as both of them contributed to the injury. This protects the AFL from litigation (I think this is the fundamental reason why they're suspending based on impact more than the action, so they can say "well we suspended the player who caused the injury, what more do you want from us"). It also disincentivises players from acting with reckless disregard for their own well-being, as Rozee did.
  19. Someone just needs to wear Butterss like a glove, honestly.
  20. This would be the biggest win since the granny I reckon, if we can snag it.
  21. No idea how we're still in this. I reckon I do have an idea - Port have squandered serious opportunities.
  22. This is going to be an absolute smacking unfortunately.
  23. What tosh. What if both sides know their enemy and know themselves? Who wins then? Pop culture philosophy Sun Tzu was...
  24. Pretty exciting couple of ins, with Salem and (still my man) McDonald likely to also be in. Bring it on!
