Vince is one of those who just wants to be on an AFL list as long as he can. I can see us keeping him another 2-3 years as an AFL/VFL, then purely VFL player for depth, before finally letting him call it when he can't get an AFL game (2020 or so).
My team of the 2000s (years as a rough guess, with help from Footywire):
FB....2005 Wheatley.....2011 Frawley.........2004 Whelan
HB....2016 Jetta............2004 Rivers............2017 Hibberd
C......2011 Jurrah….......2014 Jones............2000 Woewoden
HF....2012 Green..........2017 T. McDonald..2018 Hogan
FF....2004 Davey..........2000 Neitz (C)...…...2006 Robertson
Fol...2017 Viney (VC)..2016 Gawn..............2018 Oliver
Int...2006 White..2004 J. McDonald..2004 Bruce. 2006 Yze
Just putting this out there. I remember Jack Viney's first game. We got smashed by the Lions and he was the only one who cared. He was a kid. Welcome back cap.
I think the AFL is going on its (perhaps wrong) assumption that an umpire would never intentionally get close to a melee. Once that is established, there's no other course of action than to acquit the player.
On everything we've seen so far, Pedersen is way ahead of Weiderman when we go on "best performed" (or whatever this thread's premise is).
Weeds has a lot of years to catch up though, which is good cause that's what the VFL is for.
Also, who's JSmith and why is he in my best Melbourne footy side?
I guarantee a bunch of randoms from Northern States or with no real interest in footy will tune in this week to watch Melbourne play Carlton. Oh wait, is the Wedding on that day?
"The change comes after a recent spate of umpire contact charges against players, most notably against Tom Hawkins, Steven May, and Charlie and Ed Curnow."
So, …most notably, all of them.
I just love Russell Robertson. He's one of those blokes who sends me right back to that golden age of my early footy life, after I moved down from Brissy and my grandpa got me into the Dees. I was just 8, but I knew Robbo was my man.
Apart from Premiership coach of the Collingwood midfield, he'll never ever get a better opportunity than Senior Coach of the Melbourne Football Club. He cocked that one up pretty good though.
