  1. You have told us that you relayed to Dawes what people 'think of him' on here. Why don't you also tell him that some on here think he should be captain? And all the players have 'the supporters in their corner' - you wear that guernsey (even the white one) we will support you. You can relay that to the players aswell if you want to...
  2. Jetta has toughness and a desire to tackle - neither Blease and Stauss have those attributes from what I have seen. Roos might have some pre-requisites to playing, and they are probably closer to Jetta's attributes than the other two.
  3. All we ask is that you don't put words in our mouths - I would say, and have said, that to any poster. Especially since you like repeating what these fans say to players.
  4. And you are always picking on whatever anyone says about any player/coach/training session - have some more self awareness.
  5. I never had that view of Magner, it was an infinitesimal number of posters. And you have already forwarded such views to players, I do not wish for you to continue picking up such divisive minority views and sharing them with players as if these few posters are a swathe of MFC supporters - they are not.
  6. To S-home, one posters view becomes the whole community's, especially when he relays these minority views to players.
  7. Well, you're pulling whatever Jolly can bring as a leader/mentor out of your arse so let's call it a draw...
  8. Most 4th round picks in the Rookie Draft players don't amount to much...
  9. He has taken the 4th position on the RL. The last player taken by this club. Who do people who hate this selection think is out there at this point? The last few players on your list is the place to punt; we have picked up two raw mids (Hunt and Harms), a beanpole (King), an ungainly medium defender (Georgiou), and a tough, hard if limited midfielder that we know quite well (Jetta). If your argument is that we 'know' he cannot become anything, then you should have that view of any delisted player being picked up by this club. Maybe their is a role that Roos sees him a chance of fulfilling. You can't say that Watts or Trengove will find their way under Roos while dismissing the improvement of players you don't think are any good.

I read that initially as 'Now onto Syria.' So Roos was the reason they are giving up their Sarin.

Well, I love KPIs... Mine for Watts - if he is on a wing - would be defensive acts (tackles, smothers, blocks, spoils, etc) and uncontested possessions. In fact, for most of the midfield it would be those two KPIs, plus stoppage numbers and opposition UPs.

I find that saying 'he wants $X - that's ridiculous' is a little meaningless as the Salary Cap will near $10m next year. I would prefer to talk about percentage of the cap. And Betts 6%? That's ridiculous...

His second efforts are appalling at times. He needs to stop ball watching and thinking and just start reacting in contested/close footy situations.

Yeah, I don't really care. I have about 5 players at my footy club, the rest are assets to be retained and developed or bartered for other assets. I believe we have mitigated the disaster that would be an entry to the ND and we can do as Roos pleases with regard to asset number 4.

No, but you make a good point DeeZee. The difference is you have a tangible to criticise where it is difficult to criticise the barren land that is our midfield.

Early on in his career, and I won't damn him for it, he did similar things to Watts. He would short step to avoid a contest, he would give the ball up to avoid a tackle, etc I don't have evidence other than my own opinion and recollection. Green then changed my opinion in the latter half of his career where he became utterly careless of his own safety on the field. I see it every year in my own footy team; blokes can build the confidence in their body to show a bit more carelessness for their body.

Thanks Chook. We get it. You will find about 15k 'die hard' supporters in the same group; lapsed members who will re-sign when Roos signs.

Had a fantasy auction and got Brees and Gonzalez as 'best in class' for their positions but had to settle for Gore and Ball as RBs to back up Lynch. Welker is a gem pickup IMO and I hope Mike Wallace can get near the puss that Tannehill will throw at him... I am pretty confident but we will see how the 49ers and the Broncos use their RBs before being too confident.

By all means see what is out there. But don't burn people to a point where we have to move them for very little. How we handled Moloney's exit from a list management POV was atrocious. First we diminished his value by making him well aware he was not wanted through comments fo the coach and the selection committee, and secondly we made it clear to the footy public that this RFA was not welcome back at the club. If you have a commodity you want to get rid of. Don't force that commodity out until you have something coming back the other way, and don't just let that commodity go for nothing on the market. This is probably best placed on the other Forum.

Of course you are. Although this is very early. But the point I made in the post was that it is not advisable to draft for immediate impact. Top draft picks should be investments in the future, not used to acquire 18 year olds to compete straight away. If you want that - trade the pick for a known commodity to perform straight away.

Battle of Ego's? You called it a rant. Personally, I thought it was better thought out than a rant. My point is that it isn't a case of 'sooner the better.' List management is an art form in need of some science. We have got quite a few players that I don't think much of - and some that I am sure I will come to that conclusion - but we have to be methodical about how we do this. Unless we get something in FA I can see us only parting with Gillies, Sellar, Davis, Rodan, Jetta, and McDonald because of what we could bring in.

Yes, it was quite something. And it reminds me of the gameplan used by Neeld after his first year in charge. And he only changed 14 players. You can have your belief that the vast majority of the players should be removed but don't let yourself forget the reality of list management - it cannot be done in one Summer. I don't want us to take a kid with Pick 100+ because it will mean we are wedded to that player for two years as per the CBA. We can overhaul the list in a rational manner and if you want to discuss it further, there is a thread on the subject on the Trading Board.

Yes, but what evidence is that used for? A past decision? Hypothetical re-ordering of the draft is classic masichism from MFC fans who love to play this 'what if' game. When you draft a player in the first few rounds of the National Draft you should be choosing the players that will be the best players when the enter their prime.
