Dominated in all areas and could’ve won by more with some better kicking. Eagles stacked the D50 to shut the game down and slowed things down, helped by some dumb F50 entries from us.
That being said. I’ve never heard a commentary team so supportive of a side that got flogged by 12 goals. Amazing mental gymnastics to make this sound like a positive result for WCE and a real wake up call for us. I must’ve been watching a different game.

It’s significant, but those guys aren’t our goal kickers. We’ve won pretty much the entire ground except for kicking through the big sticks.
Viney had kicked a goal every round this season.

And your votes are?
Votes:
6. Oliver
5. Brayshaw
4. Langdon
3. Viney
2. Harmes
1. WeidThought May was great in patches, especially early. Faded out and was soundly beaten in the air and comprehensively outplayed by Wright, who kept them in it.
I understand there is a structure and it isn’t necessarily 1on1 all the time, but May couldn’t keep up. Was found far behind the play multiple times.

Always been a fan but TMac has been a liability. Outmarked 5 times and caught HTB.

this is just so misleading by using the whole list......and in essendon's case with a whopping 10 rookies.
the only meaningful comparison is only including those players who played seniors (adjusted by whatever % they played).
Im not sure how it can be misleading when it clearly states “club lists” at the top of the page as well as calls out the number of rookies.
Average age of Essendon players that actually played including the medi-sub
round one: 24y 296 days
round two: 24y 246 days
Demons
round one: 25y 122 days
round two: 25y 62 days
Adelaide just for a comparison as they have the youngest list:
round one: 23y 305 days
round two: 23y 201 days

I think it'll be close. I agree with the comments RE Lever not being in. Smith and Hunt are still poor by foot and haven't been exposed yet positionally. Our defence doesn't look at sturdy, despite our results, as a Lever team.
However, how long are they going to bang on about being a young side? They're not that young. Taking Merrett out would drop their age demo, but I'd love to know.
They are the fourth youngest side. But only 0.5 of a year separates them and us.

Think it's awesome to see Touk Miller finally getting the praise he deserves
He was AA last year. Not exactly unrecognised.

Not a single person has seemed to realise that Kozzie put a lot of time into being a defensive forward on Caleb Daniel.
When the Dogs beat us in round 19 last year, Daniel had 34 possessions, 128 AFL Fantasy Point and kicked one goal. Even in the Grand Final when the Dogs barely touched the ball for 45 minutes, he ended that game having 37 touches and 126 Fantasy Points.
On Wednesday night he was kept to 26, and they weren't overly effective - only 89 fantasy points. Anyone that didn't see what Koz was doing and the role his was playing needs to watch the game again.
And just like the grand final he creates space and opportunities for other players. Langdons opening goal is a perfect example of that and it’s really selfless play, especially for a small forward that may only get a handful of opportunities per game.
Pickett created that space to allow Langdon to kick that goal and post goal you could see Langdon say something in recognition and appreciation.
Zero impact on the stat sheet but a huge impact.

So in successive matches the thug Bontempelli has tried to take out Oliver, and has taken out Salem.
Hope our boys have long memories.
Is this anger towards Bont serious?
Bont made a fair and legal tackle. Wasn’t a free kick and no intent to hurt. It’s a contact sport and these things happen. He is a pretty fair player. Can't say I understand the thinking that he deserves some sort of square up for a tough, fair tackle.

According to Gawn at half time in the prelims Hawkins came up to him and said “you guys will choke”.
After Gawn kicked his 5th he told Hawkins that it looks like they’re about to choke for the 11th time in a prelim.Source?

This was my favourite Gawn comments on BigFooty from a Cats supporter. This was before the prelim…
“Melbourne aren't that good.
Their forward line is hardly scary apart from Pickett - smalls trouble us - and we have a stronger midfield. I don't think Gawn scares Stanley either.”- 2

I agree I’d like to see him on the wing in future. He’s the longest kick in the side with a booming hoof. That can be really damaging.

Football genius and talent expert Gary Buckenara on Richmond at the end of 2016“I don’t think the list they’ve got right now is good enough to win a premiership.”

We're cooked.
Totally outplayed by Beveridge here. I just don't understand, he's basically found a way to undermine all the strengths to our game. Felt sick all week knowing he was probably the only coach outside Clarkson who would be able to do this.
💯 so disappointing

About to be blown out.
so disappointing.
Goodwin a great man manager but terrible match day coach.
what a shame.

It’s quite obviously a signal for some sort of onfield change or tactic. Same as they do in basketball when calling the play.
I somehow doubt he’s interrupting players in the middle of a prelim just to let them know he cares.
