JJ plays footy, Sparrow more aligned with rugby

JJ doing well for swans in an assigned tagging role. Apparently not good enough to get a game with us, but good enough for the clear flag favourites. Of course Goody doesn't like taggers these days, even though that was where Harmes played his best football.

On Harmes his last three weeks before he pinged his hammy have been:

    27 touches 4 goals

    18 touches 2 goals

    22 touches 1 goal

For a guy who plenty thought would spend the year at Casey TMac just wow. I want to know where I can find his fountain of youth

A full AFL pre season will have most people in good nick.

    Unforgettably nice outcome.

    Exactly.

…and Lever for what became Lochie O’Brien and Ed Richards isn’t exactly the MFC being “screwed” in my book.

Someone posted about the class of Jeffo on show yesterday. I see he had 2 handballs, 2 kicks.. gee he must not waste a possession then. 😉

Would be dropped from Casey on merit if he wasn’t a high draft pick.

That’s the Bayley Fritsch we pay to see each week. Outbodying defenders, taking speccies and kicking sausage rolls. 5 goals brings his tally to 9 for the season. If he kicked straight last week he would be putting his hand up for a Coleman.

Fritsch is criminally underrated. Up there with Toby Greene for being pound for pound one of the best users of the body in the AFL

What's Gerald Healy's problem? Did we push him out or something?

If I only listened to Healys commentary I’d assume we were down by15 goals. He was going on about how Hawthorn were all over us. Off his rocker

Ben Brown would be 100 times more effective than Schache. The bloke had four touches. At least Brown’s height and reach troubles defenders and he has leading patterns. Doesn’t just stand still inside 50

Standing still inside F50 seems to be a key of Staffords forward plan.

Unpopular opinion on here it seems but I hope they persist with Laurie, at least for a few more games. Kid has skill, is one of our best by hands and when he gets his confidence up he should sharpen up those kicking skills and help our delivery inside forward 50.

In my view he appears to be a confidence player and doesn't believe he belongs yet. Doesn't help when langdon runs across his kicking line, smothering the kick and then scolds him for it, nor would it help when he was clearly ignored by Salem while he was 20 metres in the clear inside 50. Out of the 6 games he's played he's been sub or subbed out 5 times.

He will want to start showing some serious improvement however and I don't think a forward line can include all of Him, Chandler, Anb, Pickett and Spargo with McAdam to come. Up to him to start taking these chances otherwise he'll be in strife come the end of the year.

Agree re skill. But if you don’t have the competitive drive and aggressive instinct I’m afraid he’ll never really make it.

See Schache, tall and exquisitely skilled for a big man but just doesn’t have the drive.

Let’s just say I didn’t have AFL recruiters knocking down my door.

For all of his shortcomings at the top level, Brent was actually a fairly handy junior footballer

No shame in an AFL Caliber player pantsing you in the juniors.

A lot of people don’t realise how much of a gun you have to be to even get drafted let alone play 90 games like Grgic.

Grgic is closer to Lance Franklin on footballing ability then the average poster here is to Grgic.

Not even... if allowing for declining input etc.

The abyss .....it's  just down.the road imo.

And due to extremely average list management we don’t have any up and coming rucks of note nor do we have a proper key position backman to man the King’s, Lynch’s, McKay’s etc who are all over 200cm.

Dunno where you got that. The BOM site said humidity was 56% at 4.30 pm.

And I am astounded at the excuses being made here. Melbourne has been just as hot as Sydney in the last month.

It's not like we played in Darwin or Cairns.

We were rubbish & supporters should stop looking for weasel excuses.

It was dry & perfect for football.

No matter the conditions it’s the same for both sides!
